The club had agreed upon the loan agreement with Barcelona for the Brazilian a few days prior to his medical being completed and the move being 100% finalized, which came just after Bayern’s disappointing 2-2 draw against Hertha Berlin for their Bundesliga opener. In response, Bayern’s social media group made posts across several platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) announcing Coutinho’s arrival. “#ServusCoutinho” was the official slogan for the announcement of the Brazilian’s appointment with the club and came complete with an official video release on the club’s website that was also posted to Bayern’s smartphone app and social media accounts (via FCBayern.com). With all of the content posted for Coutinho’s unveiling, Bayern yielded record numbers on their social media platforms.Per the club’s website, more than 100 million fans were reached across the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram platforms this past Monday (August 19th) with over 300 published pieces of content across all of them. Since Bayern has had official social media accounts, they’ve never seen numbers that large before. Additionally, Bayern’s Instagram post on August 17th that announced the agreement being reached between Barcelona and Bayern for Coutinho received over 1.2 million likes, which was an Instagram-specific record for Bayern’s main account. View this post on Instagram @phil.coutinho! #FCBayern and FC Barcelona have agreed a deal in principle for the transfer of Philippe #Coutinho on loan with an option to buy. A post shared by FC Bayern München (@fcbayern) on Aug 16, 2019 at 2:59pm PDTIn addition to the monumental social media numbers, it is estimated that around 1,500 fans showed up outside of Sabener Strasse to witness Coutinho’s first training session with the rest of the squad. There will also be a feature on him in Bayern’s latest issue of its member magazine, 51.While the social media numbers do not necessarily translate to success on the pitch, it is refreshing to see how much excitement surrounds Bayern’s new playmaker, especially considering the difficult circumstances Bayern has faced during the summer transfer window; namely, the ACL injury of Manchester City’s Leroy Sane. Coutinho may not have been on Bayern’s radar heading into the summer transfer window, but he could prove to be a fantastic circumstantial signing and joins Lucas Hernandez, Benjamin Pavard, Fiete Arp, Ivan Perisic, and Michaël Cuisance on Bayern’s list of new signings in 2019.This is also the perfect place and opportunity to express our appreciation for Bayern’s social media departments, who never cease to amaze and excite us. Daily Schmankerl: Coutinho available for €80 million, Chelsea in the lead

The Evening Standard reports that “Barcelona will consider bids of around €80 million for former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho this summer.” That is a full €40 million less than the purchase option included in his loan contract at Bayern, but Bayern is not interested in signing the Brazilian after a lukewarm trial year.On top of that news, Italian journalist Nicolò Schira reports that Chelsea is already engaged in talks with Coutinho’s agent.#Chelsea are in talks to sign Alex #Telles (Porto want €40M) and #Coutinho (also Tottenham are interested in him). The good relationship with their agents Pini Zahavi and Kia Joorabchian could help #Blues to finalize the deal. #transfers #CFC— Nicolò Schira (@NicoSchira) April 1, 2020But Chelsea is not the only Premier League club interested in Coutinho. Paris Saint-Germain v Bayern Munich - UEFA Champions League FinalPhoto by Michael Regan - UEFA/UEFA via Getty ImagesDespite some whispers, Bayern Munich will not be making a move for hard-luck FC Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho. With FC Barcelona eagerly looking to unload Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, there were some rumblings that Bayern Munich would be willing to make a move for a player who provided the squad with attacking depth during the treble-winning 2019/2020 campaign.Alas, Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg burst on to the scene to throw some cold water on to those rumors as he tweeted the news below, which he also detailed on his “Mein Bayern Woche” podcast:Update #Coutinho - due to many requests: No return to #FCBayern! There is no truth in the rumors. #MeineBayernWoche @SPORT1— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) April 30, 2021Coutinho’s 2020/2021 season was derailed by a knee injury, but FC Barcelona had already seen enough to know that it wanted to go in a different direction. If it can find a willing suitor, FC Barcelona will be looing to make a quick sale of Coutinho this summer.Everton is among the clubs that are supposedly looking to bring in Coutinho, but the midfielder will likely not be in any rush to make a move. The 28-year-old is focused on rehabbing his knee at this point and has not spoken publicly about what the future might hold.Coutinho’s current deal with FC Barcelona runs through the 2022/2023 season.

FC Barcelona v Levante UD - La Liga SantanderPhoto by David Ramos/Getty ImagesCould the Brazilian midfielder be set for a move to Italy? The future of former Bayern Munich midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been in limbo for a few months now, but the Brazilian maestro could finally be settling in on the next destination for his career.According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Coutinho would have to accept a pay cut of up to 50% if he wants to move to one of two clubs primarily interested in the 29-year-old. As of now, Inter Milan and Olympique Marseille are most likely to acquire Coutinho:⚠️‼️ #Milan is in contact with #Coutinho's entourage: the also has citizenship so he wouldn't occupy a non-EU slot. So, #Coutinho wouldn't rule out #KaioJorge. also to the other clubs interested in the attacking midfielder (e.g. #OM). ⚽️ #Calciomercato #Transfers https://t.co/fQDIDiMU3b— Rudy Galetti (@RudyGaletti) July 15, 2021A move away from FC Barcelona is probably the thing for Coutinho at this stage of his career. Coming off of an injury, Coutinho will be looking to re-establish himself and both Inter Milan and Olympique Marseille would afford him that opportunity. As of now, though, Inter Milan seems to be leading the race and could be a very interesting landing spot for Coutinho. The former Bayern Munich treble-winner needs an opportunity to get consistent playing time and that should be a possibility with Inter.

Per the latest reports, though, it will not be on a permanent transfer, but another loan.Surprisingly, the leader in the clubhouse to land Coutinho appears to be Aston Villa:#Coutinho from #Barcelona to #AstonVilla is almost a done deal.

It’s not a done deal/agreed yet. #AVFC

Coutinho has been discussed with 3 Premier League clubs. He’s open and prepared to leave Barça.— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 5, 2022In addition to Aston Villa, Arsenal FC, Newcastle United, Everton, Leicester City, and Tottenham Hotspur, have also been linked to Coutinho (as reported by The Mirror). Interestingly, Aston Villa was not listed by The Mirror as a club checking in on Coutinho. While a move to Aston Villa was not expected, it certainly could make sense for everyone involved.
