Nagelsmann, though, wants his star player back in the fold for next season.“It’s always good for the club to have planning security. I’d like us to reach an agreement with Lewy. I want the contract to be extended. That’s my point of view. (Erling) Haaland? You can’t compare Lewy and Haaland, they’re different types of players,” Nagelsmann said. “When it comes to transfers, I have absolute confidence in Brazzo and Oli Kahn that they will put together a top squad. I’ve already expressed my thoughts internally. But that should remain internal. It’s no use if everything is always discussed publicly.”At best, Lewandowski’s long-term future is uncertain, but Bayern Munich seems to be totally against selling him this summer. At worst, it appears, the club will let him walk away as a free agent next summer.Fabrizio Romano released the latest info on Lewandowski’s situation, so here you go:Lewandowski situation:

WHAT IS GOING ON?<a href="https://www.barcablaugranes.com">FC Barcelona</a> have clandestine finances even at the best of times, but their actions this summer are stretching the limits of credibility. The Catalans have made <a href="https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com">Bayern Munich</a> striker Robert Lewandowski their chief target for this <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/transfer-rumors">transfer window</a>, seemingly forgetting the fact that they’re nearly broke.Or, at least that’s what La Liga President Javier Tebas would have you believe. Speaking to the Spanish news agency Europa Press, Tebas declared that Barca would have to sell at least one of their main stars to finance a transfer of Lewandowski’s caliber:Javier Tebas on EFE: “As of today, Barcelona can’t sign Lewandowski. They know their financial situation and the rules of the league. I don’t know if they will sell Frenkie or Pedri, but they know they have to sell players or certain assets” <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Transfers?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Transfers</a>— Reshad Rahman ✆ (@ReshadRahman_) <a href="https://twitter.com/ReshadRahman_/status/1531566883098460162?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 31, 2022</a>Barca have already sold Philippe Coutinho to <a href="https://7500toholte.sbnation.com">Aston Villa</a> this summer, but the €20m or so they got from the deal won’t be enough to cover the costs of the Lewy operation. Several of the Catalan club’s key players have been linked with a transfer out of the club, especially Frenkie de Jong, who has been reportedly targeted by former boss Erik ten Hag at <a href="https://thebusbybabe.sbnation.com">Manchester United</a>.Of course, this being La Liga and therefore an endless source of drama, Barca president Joan Laporta hit back at Tebas’ concerns, saying the following:❗️Joan Laporta, on Tebas’ comments: “I ask you to stop commenting on possible Barça signings. Making such statements isn’t right. There is a clear will to harm Barça's interests” <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Transfers?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Transfers</a>— Reshad Rahman ✆ (@ReshadRahman_) <a href="https://twitter.com/ReshadRahman_/status/1531671247246983173?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 31, 2022</a>This is the part where we point out that Javier Tebas is a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/722/la-liga/2015/11/16/17380692/la-liga-president-admits-to-being-a-real-madrid-fan">self-admitted</a> <a href="https://www.managingmadrid.com">Real Madrid</a> fan, and therefore has plenty of reason to misrepresent Barca’s financial situation. You’d think that the boss of La Liga wouldn’t want to expose the fact that one of the league’s biggest clubs is nearly broke, but whatever. The important part is, he’s not the only one who’s expressed doubts about Barcelona’s ability to pay for transfers this summer.Despite Lewandowski’s declaration that his story at Bayern Munich is over, Barca’s financial situation could still end up becoming a roadblock that sinks the entire transfer. Per reports, the Catalans have already made a €30m bid for the Polish striker, while Bayern are still holding out for upwards of €40m. If the stalemate continues, both clubs could be forced to find some creative solutions to make the transfer happen. Otherwise, Lewandowski would end up having to stick around in Munich for another season, even after stating his intention to leave. That can’t be comfortable.By the way, if you’re curious about how the Lewandowski saga got to this point and why the player wants to leave Bayern Munich so badly, we did a breakdown of it on an <a href="https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com/2022/5/16/23074094/bayern-munich-podcast-s4e32-board-criticism-kahn-hainer-brazzo-robert-lewandowski-transfer-d…

FC Barcelona Unveil New Signing Andreas ChristensenPhoto by Urbanandsport/NurPhoto via Getty ImagesNot enough levers! Someone call Bayer Leverkusen. We’re halfway through the week and Robert Lewandowski was supposed to be an FC Barcelona player by now. However, it seems that the Catalans are having trouble scrounging together a bid for the Bayern Munich superstar. Per reports out of Germany and Spain, a number of factors are making the operation difficult.Firstly, according to Kerry Hau of Sport1, Bayern Munich are demanding a large portion of Lewy’s transfer fee up-front, without any installments. If Barca were to make a €50m guaranteed bid today, the club would immediately sit down and negotiate an exit for the Polish striker. However, until that demand is met, Robert Lewandowski will remain at Bayern.Barca are apparently having trouble producing this lump sum, which is why the Bayern executives would much rather sell Lewy to PSG or Chelsea if a bid came in. Unfortunately the striker only wants to go to Spain, which is making a deal difficult.Meanwhile, on the other side of negotiations, we have Barca’s impending financial issues. They have yet to announce the activation of their second “lever” (a word that has curiously entered the football journalist’s lexicon over the course of this window) and presumably don’t have much money left after signing Raphinha from Leeds United. The trouble is that the sale of Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United, which could have raised up to 85m euros for the club, is stalled. The reason? The Dutchman doesn’t want to leave Barcelona.❗️If Frenkie De Jong does not leave, the Fair Play issue can make it complicated for the club to do other certain operations they have in mind. @gerardromero @planetabarcaa #Transfers— Reshad Rahman ✆ (@ReshadRahman_) July 14, 2022How Manchester United spent an entire summer negotiating over a player that doesn’t even want to join them is a mystery. EPL clubs sometimes seem to work backwards. But more importantly for Barca (and therefore Bayern) the Frenkie deal stalling throws a wrench into their plans to raise money. Now it’s unknown whether Joan Laporta has any other tricks up his sleeve, but unless de Jong is sold and Barca activates their second lever (a sale of future club revenue), they will not be able to match Bayern’s strict demands for a Lewandowski sale.As it stands, it’s looking like Robert Lewandowski will have to stick around at Bayern Munich for a little while longer. At least he doesn’t seem to be grumpy in training anymore.Update #Lewandowski: Intensive training session today. Now finish. 31 degrees. Lewy in top form and totally involved. This is notable because Sané prefers to play on the left side and has performed better on the left side. In fact, you could argue that Sané has played better on the left and centrally than on the right side.No to mention, Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann isolating two players in their prime to compete over playing time at one position seems shortsighted. and will likely not sit well with the players — especially Sané.Anyway, if there is even an inkling of truth to the rumor (debatable at best), Arsenal is willing to pay up to €70 million for the Germany international:Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has been linked with a move away from the German club in recent months. Costa Rica v Germany -World CupPhoto by Dale MacMilan/Soccrates/Getty ImagesHere we go! (Maybe!)According to transfer aficionado Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich is eager to lockdown Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Lucas Hernandez to new contracts as soon as possible. In terms of urgency, Hernandez is the focal point as his contract is set to expire after the 2023/24 season. There is no doubt that Bayern Munich wants to avoid entering a lame duck season with Hernandez, even as he will be battling back from a traumatic ACL injury.Similarly, Bayern Munich wants to get new deals done for both Musiala and Davies due the the deep-pocketed club ogling the youngsters from afar:FC Bayern will prepare new contract proposal for Jamal Musiala in 2023. Current deal expires in June 2026 but Bayern want to seal new, longer agreement as soon as possible. ⭐️ #transfers

Lucas Hernandez and Alphonso Davies contracts will also be discussed. pic.twitter.com/DMVcGtDHUb— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) December 28, 2022Davies’ current contract expires in 2025, but Real Madrid are rumored to be set to make a strong proposal to him before that date. Similarly, Musiala’s contract is slated to run through the 2025/26 season, but he is expected to draw interest from Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Liverpool, and others.Regardless, Bayern Munich is trying to prevent any of that from happening with some proactive negotiations.

Bundesliga”Schalke 04 v FC Bayern Munchen”Photo by ANP via Getty ImagesCould this be a potential sign that Coman wants to be shopped around to other clubs?Per football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman has officially changed his representation to CAA Base, a highly reputed agency for footballers whose main offices are located in London, England. CAA Base also represents a laundry list of superstars across Europe including Heung-Min Son, Richarlison, Jorginho, Raphael Varane, James Maddison, and Gleison Bremer, who Bayern was once linked with, amongst others.Christian Emile of CAA Base, who will be directly representing Coman, was excited at the opportunity to work with the 2018 World Cup winner with France. “Coman is a world class talent, having won 27 trophies by the age of 26. We are excited to support him as he strives to achieve further success,” he said. Emile will also be working alongside Coman’s father, who has always had a big say in the dealings of his son.Official. So far this season, he’s made a total of 14 appearances, tallying a goal and five assists in the process. By no means has it been his best season, but he missed a handful of matches through a red card suspension from the last Bundesliga match of last season and injury. It is also worth remembering what Coman did during the fall of 2021. He had temporarily hired Pini Zahavi to try to broker a move away from Bayern to the Premier League. At the time, he was reluctant so sign a new deal with Bayern knowing that there was plenty of interest from Premier League clubs in England. His father had also made it clear that the winger preferred a move to England, but when a move never wound up materializing, with Coman and Zahavi eventually parting ways.Bayern fans don’t need to be reminded of the dealings they’ve had with Zahavi between both Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba, who both wound up leaving Bayern for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.

We can’t complain about referee, even though he didn’t have his best day. It’s more our fault that we didn’t win,” Salihamidžić said.Referee Daniel Siebert explained his position and why he did not make a call.“There was contact, I can’t deny that. But overall for me it wasn’t a foul (on Kimmich). A bit of contact must be allowed in a Bundesliga top game. For me, there was no foul,” Siebert said.As for why Dayot Upamecano escaped with a yellow card instead of a red card at a key moment in the second half, the referee also had an explanation for that as well.“If the foul had taken place centrally, directly in front of the penalty area, it would have been a different situation. If de Ligt wasn’t in full sprint, it would be a different situation. I had the feeling that De Ligt was so close to the scene and wasn’t outplayed. Therefore, no red card for Upamecano,” Siebert said.I am just some dude typing this story, but I did not think it was a foul either. Reports broke earlier today claiming that the 28-year-old was unhappy in Bavaria and was looking to leave in the summer, with Barcelona being credited with serious interest in securing his services.Furthermore, it was reported that Bayern Munich were eyeing a summer move for Declan Rice, which could potentially pave the way for Kimmich to leave the club in the summer. However, according to a fresh update from journalist Tobi Altschaffl of BILD (via Reshad Rahman), Bayern Munich will not sell Joshua Kimmich even if they are offered a sum of €100 million for his services.Bayern have no desire to let go of their ace midfielder and wish to keep him at the club. So much so that they are prepared to turn down offers of around €100 million for the German international. So, that could very well be it as far as Barça’s pursuit of Kimmich is concerned. However, it must be remembered that the Bavarians had presented a similar stance with Robert Lewandowski last year, but ultimately relented and sold him to the Catalans. Here is a look at Rahman’s initial tweet: BREAKING: Pending further confirmation, Barcelona is very interested in Kimmich, who is thinking about leaving Bayern. According to Sport1’s Kerry Hau, the interest from clubs like Madrid and Barca in Kimmich is not exactly new and it is an extreme longshot that the Bavarians would consider selling the Germany international (as captured by <a href="https://twitter.com/iMiaSanMia/status/1658773668762202112?s=20">@iMiaSanMia</a>): Barcelona and Real Madrid’s interest in Joshua Kimmich is not new. I can’t fight this feeling any more (and not in a REO Speedwagon kind of way, either). Something keeps telling me that we are going to see a “shock signing” this summer from <a href="https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com">Bayern Munich</a> that will be someone other than the usual suspects, who have been consistently linked to the club like Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani, <a href="https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com">Juventus</a> striker Dušan Vlahović, or even <a href="https://bracethehammer.sbnation.com/">West Ham</a> defensive midfielder Declan Rice. By the time a “shock” move happens, we should know Bayern Munich’s outcome on attempting to acquire those three aforementioned players. I’m talking about an acquisition that we are not expecting, which Bayern Munich pulls out of a hat — very similar to what happened when the Bavarians inked former Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt season or when Bouna Sarr was signed in the final hours of the 2020 summer <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/transfer-rumors">transfer window</a> (which was shocking for a whole different reason....2020, what a year, eh?). The feeling is that something like this could happen again where fans are blindsided by the news...and I think it will be <a href="https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com">Chelsea FC</a>’s Kai Havertz. Recently, Havertz has been heavily linked to a transfer to <a href="https://www.managingmadrid.com">Real Madrid</a>, but Fabrizio Romano’s most recent report indicates that Los Blancos are not yet ready to roll the dice on Havertz just because Carlo Ancelotti likes him: Real Madrid are not intentioned to pay €60m plus add-ons for Kai Havertz. As of now, Tuchel could be planning with a 4-2-3-1, a 4-3-3, a 4-1-4-1, or even a 3-4-3. It is an open book of possibility where Havertz might be able to flourish. Bayern Munich officially bowed out out of the race for West Ham defensive midfielder Declan Rice on Tuesday and could now find potential pursuit of Juvenus striker Dušan Vlahović far more complicated than originally thought. According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Vlahović has drawn the interest of new Chelsea FC coach Mauricio Pochettino, who could be meeting soon with Juventus to start to work out a deal: ️ #Vlahovic, talks between #Chelsea and #Juventus is about to begin, as revealed yesterday. ✅

The club - without #UCL - needs to sell and already set his price tag: around €80m to let him go.

Kolo Muani is said to be a favorite of Bayern Munich supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß and might be ready to leave Die Adler per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg: The main priority for the Bayern bosses is to find a striker now! #Rice was the hottest target for central midfield. But Bayern is out of the race for now as reported. Kolo Muani, one of the names that remains on Bayern‘s list. Instead, Frankfurt is not planning to extend his contract with a big salary increase - NOW. Frankfurt bosses will wait on further developments. His salary now: Less than €1.5m gross/year. Bayern Munich could start to feel the pressure of the summer transfer window as players start to ink deals with new teams. Will the Bavarians act quickly on Kolo Muani or will they play the long game in hopes of lowering the rumored €100 million asking fee of Eintracht Frankfurt?

Brazil v Senegal - International Friendly Photo by Joao Rico/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Is this the end for Sadio Mané? According to a report from Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, there are as many as three clubs interested in Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mané. Galetti also stated that Mané would consider a move away from Bavaria to Saudi Arabia, where Al Nassr is rumored to want the Senegalese attacker. After a tumultuous season with Bayern Munich, a change could be a good idea for the 31-year-old to get a fresh start: ️ Sadio #Mane, 3 clubs are in contact with the #BayernMunich player.

Liverpool.com captured a report from the Daily Mail regarding Mané’s status and it seems as if the veteran might not be willing to make the jump to Saudi Arabia — even for a boatload of cash: Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mané is being targeted by clubs in Saudi Arabia this summer but he is unlikely to be willing to move there, according to the Daily Mail.Bayern Munich would be happy to let the player leave after a disappointing and injury-stricken debut campaign in Germany, with the Bundesliga giant willing to cash in.Jordan Henderson and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, though, the same report states, could be two of Steven Gerrard’s first targets as Al-Ettifaq boss after he was appointed at the Saudi Pro League club.Should Bayern Munich find a way to move Mané in the coming weeks, it would allow the flexibility to make a move for a player like Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, who has recently been linked to the Bavarians. Clearly, it was an active year — and through it all the Bavarian Football Works community was there. Sure, the staffers here did the writing for the site and the yacking on the podcast, but it was the great group of people here that made 2023 another fantastic year. Things definitely did not always work out well for Bayern Munich on the pitch and we all had our fair share of disagreements, but the important things was that BFW — as a community — was here to be the sounding board, the counselor, the (sometimes) battleground, and — most importantly — the place where we can all meet up and chat about Bayern Munich. On to 2024 and much more of the good things we had here in 2023 (and hopefully less of the bad!). <a href="https://x.com/rudygaletti/status/1741450794023432646?s=46&t=gLe-_YzJmVJHfEjMd8Qkbg">Kimmich to...Saudi Arabia?
