Bavarian Loan Works: Adrian Fein voted player of the match in Germany U21’s 2-0 win over Greece U21
Germany - Greece Photo by Robert Michael/picture alliance via Getty ImagesFein put in a solid performance against Greece and it didn’t go unnoticed.Adrian Fein was voted by fans on the DFB’s official website as player of the match for the German U-21 side in their 2-0 friendly win over Greece on Thursday, September 5th. The 20-year-old midfielder wasn’t on the score sheet, but his 45-minute shift was recognized by the fans as the best of the squad managed by Stefan Kuntz. Lukas Nmecha and former Bayern Munich midfielder Niklas Dorsch were the goal-scorers on the night for the Germans.Adrian #Fein von unseren #U21 @DFB_Junioren ist euer Spieler des Griechenland-Spiels #GERGRE

It was a clear, concrete consensus that Fein was the best player on the pitch by far for Germany, even if it was only a friendly fixture.Since Fein joined Hamburg on loan this summer from Bayern Munich’s reserves, he has established himself as a regular starter for Hamburg. He has started and played the full 90 minutes in all 5 of their 2. Liga matches thus far. Additionally, Fein started and played 120 minutes in Hamburg’s DFB-Pokal clash against Chemnitzer FC, which they won on penalties. Fein has quickly established himself as one of the most reliable players in the squad in the center of midfield for Dieter Hecking, whose side is currently at the top of the 2. Liga table on 13 points after five matches played. From a Bayern perspective, it’s refreshing to see another loan player from the reserves get valuable experience in a consistent starting role, especially since it has warranted his inclusion on the German U-21 squad. Hopefully Fein’s influential performances for both club and country continue.Read more...

Could Adrian Fein be Bayern Munich’s next great defensive midfielder?
Hamburger SV v VfB Stuttgart - DFB Cup Photo by Boris Streubel/Bongarts/Getty ImagesThe youngster has been impressive in the 2.Bundesliga with HSV, and he could be exactly what the Bavarians were looking for.According to TZ journalist Manuel Bonke (usually very reliable with regards to transfer rumors), Bayern Munich plan to integrate Adrian Fein in the first team next year. The German youngster, who went on loan to Hamburger SV to take the next step in his career, has been a revelation in the 2.Bundesliga, playing every single game so far this season. HSV sit second in the league table, and are one of the main candidates vying for promotion. #FCBTransfersommer— Manuel Bonke (@mano_bonke) December 23, 2019Interesting: Adrian #Fein should strengthen FCB next season and prove himself to the professionals from summer. The #HSV Loan player reportedly facing an extension of his 2021 contract with the German record champions. #FCBTransfersommerApparently, Bayern are ready to extend Fein’s contract (which expires in 2021) and begin integrating him with the professionals from next summer onward. With the recent success of Alphonso Davies (and hopefully Joshua Zirkzee), there is renewed hope for the careers of youngsters at Bayern Munich. As a DM, Fein finds himself bursting onto the scene at just the right moment. Bayern need a new defensive midfielder to pick up the mantle from Javi Martinez, who’s on the wrong side of 30. Joshua Kimmich and Thiago Alcantara have filled the role so far this season, but they’re better used in other positions. In Fein, the Bavarians might have found an in-house solution for their problems.Adrian Fein (and Dandy), Hamburg 19-20.

While not considered a contender to push incumbents Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Thomas Muller, many Bayern Munich fans and pundits though Fein would prove to be a valuable depth piece, who could provide defensive stability in the midfield when called upon. That assessment may eventually prove to be true this season, but it likely will not be with Bayern Munich.Read more...
