FC Union Berlin v FC Bayern München - BundesligaPhoto by Boris Streubel/Getty ImagesDuring FC Bayern’s match vs Union Berlin, Lucas Hernandez appeared to have been substituted off with what appears to be an injury during the second half.Update 12:17PM ESTBayern Munich interim coach Dino Toppmöller shed some light on what happened with injured defender Lucas Hernandez (as captured by Bild reporter Philipp Kessler):#Toppmöller über die Verletzung von Lucas #Hernandez: "Er hat einen Schlag unterhalb vom Knie abbekommen. Wir hoffen, dass er am Dienstag wieder dabei sein kann." #FCBayern— Philipp Kessler (@kessler_philipp) October 30, 2021#Toppmöller about the injury to Lucas #Hernandez : “He was hit below the knee. We hope that he can be back on Tuesday.”#FCBayernAs part of a triple substitution by Bayern Munich, center-back Lucas Hernandez was one of the players removed from the match.Prior to the substitution, Hernandez was playing with no visible discomfort, however, upon watching the match sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić’s reaction seemed to be indicating that something may, in fact, be off with the star Frenchman. As Hernandez walked to the sideline, Brazzo’s face showed some visible concern. The two men had a verbal exchange and Salihamidzic slapped the overhang in the bench area in frustration. The moment was captured on the ESPN feed.Triple sub for Bayern

With Dayot Upamecano’s highs and lows, Niklas Süle’s struggles against Union Berlin, and a lack of many other center-backs, Hernandez getting any sort of knock will make a already-shaky Bayern defense even worse.BFW will keep you posted regarding any further updates about Hernandez’s status moving forward.

FC Bayern München v RB Leipzig - BundesligaPhoto by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Corbis via Getty ImagesWe could a number of Bayern Munich players sold off this summer.Bayern Munich’s plans for the summer transfer window are becoming more clear according to a report from Sky’s Florian Plettenberg. In a series of tweets (text extracted below), Plettenberg laid out the latest news:Due to the recent problems, Nagelsmann and the bosses agree that the defense urgently needs to be strengthened for the coming season. The focus of transfers is on this part of the team.Update #Frimpong: There is currently no contact. At most, there are reports of a loose interest. Update #Ortega: Some people in charge already wanted to get him last summer. (Karl-Heinz) Rummenigge in particular was a big fan. (Stefan) Ortega has not yet made a decision.#Sabitzer and his management are not going crazy yet. They are all hoping for a breakthrough. Loan possible in summer: (Josip) Stanisic, (Malik) Tillmann (HSV asked for him in winter). Sale possible: (Marc) Roca, (Bouna) Sarr, (Omar) Richards. Totally open: (Tanguy) Nianzou.BFW AnalysisIt is clear that there are some defensive deficiencies and losing Niklas Süle will not help. Dayot Upamecano has been up-and-down, while Benjamin Pavard has played mostly at right-back, so the shift to a back-three might require some new additions. It is clear that the Bavarians are desperately seeking at least one more central defender, but have not had much luck in procuring one as of yet.The Jeremie Frimpong news came out of nowhere and while it makes positional sense, the finances might not align — if the reports are even true. The quest for Ortega is puzzling. Bayern Munich is hesitant to make many purchases, but would spend a transfer fee on a back-up goalkeeper?Sabitzer is an interesting case. His move has been a failure so far, but his talent is tantalizing enough to try and make it work again next season. Will the former RB Leipzig star have enough patience to hang around?Loans for Stanisic and Tillman would not be shocking. Stanisic seems to have fallen out of favor and Tillman’s pathway to playing time is blocked in every direction.Sarr, Roca, and Richards have barely played since being acquired, but Richards could be in line to be part of Bayern Munich’s new “selling club” philosophy. Young and talented, Richards could probably find a home in someone’s starting XI and Bayern Munich would stand to make a profit after acquiring Richards for free last summer. As for Nianzou, the young Frenchman has looked extremely green in his appearances this season and probably needs to go on loan to get more game time elsewhere.

@FCBayernEN: RT @Plettigoal: Update #Sabitzer: His departure in summer is possible but right now it is said that he wants to stay at #FCBayern. Last year, Nagelsmann wanted Sabitzer AND Laimer but Sabitzer‘s transfer was easier to realize. @SkySportsNews #TransferUpdate 🟨 https://ift.tt/e1ybBXo

FC Bayern München v VfB Stuttgart - BundesligaPhoto by Boris Streubel/Getty ImagesAre Marcel Sabitzer’s days with Bayern Munich numbered? One of the season’s big disappointments for Bayern Munich was how poorly former RB Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer integrated into the squad.Sabitzer seemed to struggle with accepting a role as a back-up and never really got on track during his first season with Bayern Munich, despite his previous experience in playing for manager Julian Nagelsmann. There have been recently been whispers that Sabitzer wanted to move on and today’s events will certainly add some fuel to that fire as the player’s agent, Roger Wittmann, was at Bayern Munich’s campus to hold talks with the club.Sky Sport’s Torben Hoffmann captured video of Wittmann on Säbener Straße:Roger #Wittmann ,Berater von #Sabitzer ist zu Gesprächen an der Säbener Straße. #fcb@SkySportNews @SkySportDE pic.twitter.com/p22GHUa47L— Torben Hoffmann (@Sky_Torben) May 10, 2022According to Bild, Wittmann’s visit was strictly to discuss Sabitzer’s future with the club. Per the report, Sabitzer is considering an exit from Bayern Munich after just one season. The Bavarians are said to be willing to sell the Austrian and would be seeking €15 million in return for the midfielder. For now, Bild says that “everything” looks like Sabitzer will be leaving Bayern Munich this summer.Arsenal FC and Fenerbahce have reportedly shown interest in Sabitzer.

FC Bayern München Doha Training Camp - Day 5Photo by Mohammad Karamali/DeFodi Images via Getty ImagesCould Marcel Sabitzer leave Bayern Munich?According to Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich is in talks with both Chelsea FC and Manchester United over midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.Sabitzer, an Austrian international who had a phenomenal first half of the season, seemingly looks like the odd man out of the midfield rotation behind starters Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. While Sabitzer did a fantastic job filling in while Goretzka was out in the Hinrunde, his place on the squad has become complicated. In addition to Kimmich and Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch has voiced his displeasure to the media twice in recent months about his lack of playing time, which has put the club in a bind when it comes to how to best manage all of the talent in the central midfield. Gravenberch was even linked to several clubs in recent weeks, including Liverpool FC.In addition, manager Julian Nagelsmann recently dropped Jamal Musiala into the mix at the position to make room for Thomas Müller in the starting XI:❗️Excl. News #Sabitzer: @ManUtd AND @ChelseaFC have BOTH inquired about Sabitzer today. They push for a transfer now. Bayern in talks with the clubs. #MUFC #CFC @SkySportDE pic.twitter.com/ROBUIuyFsa— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) January 31, 2023Sabitzer’s career at Bayern Munich flopped initially as he never looked comfortable last season. However, the star veteran, who can absolutely be a starter for another club, rebounded nicely during this campaign into a dependable compliment to Kimmich while the duo played together in the first half of the season.

West Ham United v Manchester United - Premier League Photo by Andrew Kearns - CameraSport via Getty Images Will Bayern Munich get what it wants for Marcel Sabitzer? According to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has set its asking price for midfielder Marcel Sabitzer at €25 million. The former RB Leipzig star was on loan with Manchester United during the second half of the season, but it is unclear if the Red Devils will make a bid on the 29-year-old at this point: News #Sabitzer: Bayern’s price valuation for him is up to €25m in summer. Contract running out in 2025. #MUFC is still interested in signing him permanently. But at this stage there is no development in talks or negotiations because of the club‘s ownership which is still uncertain. Priority for ManUtd: 1.) Central defender and striker 2.) Central Midfielder. At this stage, Sabitzer does not appear to be in Bayern Munich’s plans for the 2023/24 season. With Joshua Kimmich’s potential move to the No. 8, plus the presence of Leon Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch, and incoming RB Leipzig transfer Konrad Laimer, it is simply too crowded for Sabitzer to hop back into the midfield mix in Bavaria.
