Wir hoffen, dass er am Dienstag wieder dabei sein kann." #FCBayern— Philipp Kessler (@kessler_philipp) October 30, 2021#Toppmöller about the injury to Lucas #Hernandez : “He was hit below the knee. We hope that he can be back on Tuesday.”#FCBayernAs part of a triple substitution by Bayern Munich, center-back Lucas Hernandez was one of the players removed from the match.Prior to the substitution, Hernandez was playing with no visible discomfort, however, upon watching the match sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić’s reaction seemed to be indicating that something may, in fact, be off with the star Frenchman. As Hernandez walked to the sideline, Brazzo’s face showed some visible concern. The two men had a verbal exchange and Salihamidzic slapped the overhang in the bench area in frustration. The moment was captured on the ESPN feed.Triple sub for Bayern

With Dayot Upamecano’s highs and lows, Niklas Süle’s struggles against Union Berlin, and a lack of many other center-backs, Hernandez getting any sort of knock will make a already-shaky Bayern defense even worse.BFW will keep you posted regarding any further updates about Hernandez’s status moving forward.

1. FC Köln v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Rene Nijhuis/BSR Agency/Getty Images Does another defender want to leave Bayern Munich? According to a report from kicker, Bayern Munich center-back Dayot Upamecano is unhappy with his role under Thomas Tuchel and could be looking to leave the Rekordmeister this summer:Two years ago, Dayot Upamecano came to Bayern with Julian Nagelsmann. In the Bavarian capital, the defender has often been left behind in the important games and is dissatisfied with his situation. His future will probably depend on the personal planning games of coach Thomas Tuchel. The decision-makers in Munich value Upamecano’s qualities, but are also aware of his major mistakes. However, Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg issued his own report that Upamecano was not looking to leave Bayern Munich and that he has not given any indication that he would like to make an exit from the club. Plettenberg did acknowledge that Upamecano does have several clubs contacting him with inquiries about his availability, though:News #Upamecano: A transfer was not discussed in the last days. Player has no intention to leave the club in summer. Although he has many enquiries from top clubs.

Upamecano, long-term contract and not unhappy at Bayern. @SkySportDE pic.twitter.com/Gy2qcUiqgG— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) June 12, 2023BFW AnalysisUpamecano had a tough second half of the season, with a few extremely disappointing moments, but he was solid overall for the season. While it might be true that there is at least a little internal doubt about how Upamecano will perform next season, it does seem premature for either side in the equation to think about a potential move. The Frenchman figures to have a starting role Tuchel in 2023/24 barring the acquisition of player who can beat him out for the starting job. The Bavarians are in the market for another center-back, but that is presumably to backfill the expected departures of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard. It is conceivable that Bayern Munich could acquire a player who is capable of usurping Upamecano’s job, but having three starting-caliber center-backs is par for the course for a team using a back four-based formation.

Borussia Dortmund v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images Joshua Kimmich is suspended for the next Bundesliga match against Heidenheim. Next man up? Bayern Munich could be set for a shakeup in midfield and central defense against Heidenheim on Saturday, with Joshua Kimmich (suspension) and Dayot Upamecano (injury) both due to miss out.Upamecano was recently rushed back due to a center-back shortage but is dealing with a muscle strain near the knee area that has scarily been dubbed the “Arjen Robben injury”, demanding extra caution. Although the 25-year-old has played in two consecutive matches for little over an hour each, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is reportedly loathe to keep the streak going.“We definitely skipped a few steps, but in a responsible way. We checked everything. Upamecano won’t be playing 90 minutes,” Tuchel had said (via @iMiaSanMia) in advance of Bayern’s 4-0 Klassiker win over Borussia Dortmund last Saturday, Upamecano’s first game back.Upamecano clocked 60 minutes at Dortmund and 72 minutes against Galatasaray.According to Az journalist Maximilian Koch, the German manager doesn’t want the Frenchman subject to the strain of English weeks right away — likely shifting Leon Goretzka to central defense and, given Kimmich’s absence as well, 19-year-old Aleksander Pavlović to Kimmich’s spot in defensive midfield:#Upamecano could get a break on Saturday against Heidenheim, Tuchel doesn’t really want to expect the defender to play three games in one week after recovering from a thigh injury.
