Germany U21 v Israel U21 - UEFA Under21 EURO Qualifier Photo by Reinaldo Coddou H./Getty Images Eh, he’s not needed right now... Despite rumors indicating that Bayern Munich might be interested in FC Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, it does not appear as if any move is imminent...or even likely. Urbig, who spent last season on loan with Greuther Fürth, will not be headed to Säbener Straße per Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg: News Jonas #Urbig | FC Bayern is monitoring the 20 y/o goalkeeper talent from @fckoeln closely and will continue to do so. However, there are NO plans for a transfer this summer! ➡️ Bayern is planning with Neuer, Ulreich, and either Hülsmann or Schmitt as their new number three. In case Peretz actually leaves the club on loan.@SkySportDEWith Manuel Neuer, Sven Ulreich, Alexander Nübel, Tom Ritzy Hülsmann, and Max Schmitt among the organization options in between the sticks, Bayern Munich is not in dire need of an acquisition this summer. More likely, the Bavarians will just keep an eye on Urbig from far — just in case he becomes a more viable option in the future.

RB Salzburg v FC Bayern München - Friendly Match Photo by F. Noever/FC Bayern via Getty Images Daniel Peretz has reportedly firmed up his position as top backup to Manuel Neuer. Bayern Munich is witnessing a changing of the guard at goalkeeper — no, not at Manuel Neuer’s grasp of the No. 1 position. But long-time deputy Sven Ulreich has seemingly given way to Daniel Peretz, who has filled in well in Neuer’s absences. With Ulreich out for personal reasons at the time Neuer had to miss games — a red card and an accompanying injury resulting from a challenge in Bayern’s DFB-Pokal defeat to Bayer Leverkusen — Peretz was called into action. The Israeli international had already impressed on the international stage, and followed that up with solid performances for Bayern, too.Az journalist Kilian Kreitmair described the situation going forward: Excl.: The #FCBayern will go into the second half of the season with Daniel #Peretz as number 2. Sven Ulreich will be number 3. Peretz will be loaned out in the summer to gain match practice. A new young keeper will replace him. #Urbig and #Verbruggen are options. If this is how it pans out, Peretz, 24, will get his shot at a full-time No. 1 gig elsewhere to prove his mettle — embarking on the path that a previous Neuer successor candidate, Alexander Nübel, has charted out in recent years at AS Monaco and VfB Stuttgart. That would leave the No. 2 spot open once more. And the two names mentioned here — FC Köln’s Jonas Urbig (21) and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Bart Verbruggen (22) — are big prospects who might just displace Peretz himself when it comes time for Neuer to finally hang up his boots.Looking for thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga showdown with Borussia Mönchengladbach? 1. FC Köln v 1. FC Nürnberg - Second Bundesliga Photo by Pau Barrena/Getty Images Is Jonas Urbig the “Next One”? According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has identified its pick to potentially succeed Manuel Neuer — FC Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig: Jonas #Urbig is currently Bayern’s top candidate for next summer to become the backup goalkeeper behind Manuel #Neuer, who is set to extend his contract until 2026 in the coming days. The basic requirement for the transfer of Urbig is that Daniel #Peretz will be loaned out in the summer to gain regular playing time at a high level. A loan for Peretz is under consideration. There is no agreement or ongoing negotiations regarding Urbig yet, but the 21 y/o top talent from 1. FC Köln is currently at the top of the list. #effzeh It seems that Bayern Munich is seeking to bring in Urbig, have him get some spot time behind Neuer in 2025/26, and use that framework to decide whether he will be ready to step in for Neuer in 2026/27.Needless to say, the focus could be shifting toward Urbig and away from Daniel Peretz (expected to be sent on loan during the summer) and Alexander Nübel (expected to stay at VfB Stuttgart for next season).Let the games begin...Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s 6-0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg? Germany U21 v Israel U21 - UEFA Under21 EURO Qualifier Photo by Reinaldo Coddou H./Getty Images Bayern Munich wants to find the next Manuel Neuer... According to a report from Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich is still working on a deal for FC Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig: Negotiations between FC Bayern and Köln over an immediate transfer of Jonas #Urbig are ongoing. Bayern remain determined to sign the 21-year-old top talent. Personal terms 100 % agreed. Bayern do not want to pay more than €6-7 million as a fixed fee. Max Eberl told Sky today: “We are trying to build a squad for FC Bayern that will be successful in the coming years. For example, Manuel Neuer, who may extend until 2026 and then leave when his contract expires. You have to prepare for these things.”FC Köln sporting director Christian Keller does not sound like he is eager to let Urbig walk. “As things stand, we’re not getting any money at all for Jonas Urbig. He’s in the squad today. He is theoretically and practically fit to play. I’m happy that he is our player,” Keller told Sport1 (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). When asked about a potential move this month, Keller did not waver: “For that intention to change, a lot would have to happen.”It seems as if Bayern Munich is set on this move, but timing is the issue. Will the Bavarians pony up enough to get a deal done this month?Looking for more thoughts, talk, and analysis of Bayern Munich’s big 3-2 win over Wolfsburg? FC Bayern München v RB Leipzig - Bundesliga Photo by Daniel Kopatsch/Getty Images Would this be a good move for the Bayern Munich goalkeeper? According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, RC Lens is eager to make a deal that would bring Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz to the French club this month: EXCL | RC Lens want to sign Daniel #Peretz before Deadline Day!The French club have submitted an official offer to Bayern. However, Peretz currently prefers to stay. He is expected to be match fit again in 4-6 weeks following a kidney injury.Meanwhile, Bayern remain keen on signing Jonas #Urbig from Köln immediately, as revealed earlier this week. Negotiations are ongoing.Peretz had an opportunity to prove his mettle at the end of the first half of the season, but while he was solid, he did not do enough to win over the Bayern Munich brass and prove that he should be the person to succeed Manuel Neuer. With a terrific physical profile and good skill, Peretz needs more game experience — something that he might find tough to get at Bayern Munich. International FriendlyFrance U21 v Germany U21 Photo by ANP via Getty Images Bayern Munich is working hard to get its next goalkeeper... According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich submitted another bid to FC Köln for goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, but was — again — rejected: Excl | FC Bayern have submitted a second official offer to 1. FC Köln for Jonas #Urbig! Bayern have increased their fixed transfer fee, which was previously at 5 million euros, now offering more. However, Köln’s Managing Director, Christian Keller, has also rejected this second offer as #Effzeh are not satisfied yet. But Bayern won’t pay any price. Negotiations are ongoing. If true, this shows Bayern Munich persistence in pursuing the player. Bayern Munich seems to be very serious about this move, so it will not be shocking for them to go back at least one more time with another proposal. Bayern Munich is in the midst of a number of important contract situation, so let’s talk about them on the Bavarian Podcast Works Show! According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich will get its man.FC Köln goalkeeper will join Bayern Munich in the coming days to get a head start on his quest to eventually succeed Manuel Neuer. FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Round of 16 First Leg Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Not good... Per a release from FCBayern.com, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has suffered a torn muscle fiber in his right calf, which is expected to keep him out for “the time being”: Manuel Neuer suffered a torn muscle fiber in his right calf in the 3-0 win over Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Champions League game on Wednesday evening. The diagnosis was confirmed by the FC Bayern medical unit. The record champions’ goalkeeper will therefore be out for the foreseeable future. However, reports started to break with more specific timelines for Neuer’s return, which could be quite a few games. Bild first reported that Neuer will be out until at least the international break starts on March 17th: FC Bayern delivered a full performance in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. Everything looks like the Munich team will make it to the quarter-finals.The only bad news: Manuel Neuer (38) injured his right calf while celebrating the 3-0 win, and is said to have torn a muscle fiber. According to BILD information, Neuer is therefore likely to be out until the international break (from March 17). Jonas Urbig (21) came on as a substitute for Neuer.Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg backed up the timeline: Manuel #Neuer will be out for the time being due to a muscle fibre tear in his right calf (sustained after a goal celebration), as first via BILD and confirmed. Neuer will miss at least three to four games, including the return leg in Leverkusen.Jonas #Urbig will replace him; this has already been decided.Neuer was terrific against Bayer Leverkusen before exiting the match after Jamal Musiala’s goal, which put Bayern Munich up 2-0. Neuer also made an early save on Jeremie Frimpong that changed the course of the match and kept the momentum on Bayern Munich’s side. 1. FC Union Berlin - Bayern Munich Photo by Andreas Gora/picture alliance via Getty Images The position might be cursed at Bayern Munich this season... According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig has suffered an injury at Germany’s U-21 camp: Jonas #Urbig will return to Munich early due to a foot injury and will pause training for four to five days. Bayern view this recall as a precautionary measure.Manuel Neuer (multiple injuries, the latest a torn calf muscle) and Daniel Peretz (bruised kidney) have already both suffered injuries this season (both are also currently banged up as well), while Sven Ulreich also had an unexpected hiatus from the team that was never fully explained by the club. Clearly, this season has been a tough one for the position. Neuer, though, is making progress per Plettenberg: Meanwhile, Manuel Neuer is working on his comeback at Säbener Straße following a muscle fibre tear in his right calf. The plan is for him to return in goal for Bayern’s home match against St. Pauli on March 29th after the international break. Here is some footage captured by Bild journalist Nico Linner of Neuer working out at Säbener Straße: ⚪️ Reha-Fortschritt bei Manuel #Neuer: Die Nummer eins des #FCBayern macht heute erstmals seit seiner Waden-Verletzung wieder lockere Übungen mit dem Ball. pic.twitter.com/jbv1bEfVyX— Nico Linner (@linner_nicolas) March 19, 2025 ⚪️ Rehabilitation progress for Manuel #Neuer : The number one of #FCBayern is doing some easy exercises with the ball today for the first time since his calf injury.Fingers crossed...

FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Round of 16 First Leg Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Well, this certainly blows... Bayern Munich is currently dealing with a wave of injuries. Key players such as Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies are sidelined for the remainder of the season, while others, including Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala, are working hard to return in time for the crucial final stretch of the season.Per a report by Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), if Bayern Munich fans were expecting captain goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to make a comeback against Inter Milan in the UCL, they should not get their hopes up.“Manuel Neuer will definitely miss Wednesday’s game against Inter. Jonas Urbig will start in goal again. Neuer tried to get fit in time but wasn’t able to do training involving his injured calf. The captain will now take the next steps in the coming days and hopefully return to the team soon. He remains a doubt for Heidenheim this weekend, but he’d certainly be back for a possible Champions League semifinal at the end of April/beginning of May,” [Bild via @iMiaSanMia].Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg also confirmed the news via X: ❌ Manuel #Neuer will miss the second leg vs Inter due to a muscle fibre tear in his right calf. It’s decided. As also via BILD.
