Football fans can’t believe what Jonas Hector has done at Koln
Cologne have experienced a remarkable fall from grace this season. The German outfit enjoyed a fine Bundesliga campaign in 2016/17, earning themselves a spot in the Europa League where they were drawn in the same group as Arsenal. They even managed to beat the Gunners on their own patch, but their form domestically has been horrendous.Sitting on just 22 points with 31 rounds of matches played, Cologne are virtually doomed, with their relegation set to be confirmed on the weekend. The loss of Anthony Modeste – their top scorer last season – was a huge blow, but it shouldn’t have come to this. With their fate effectively sealed, one of Germany’s biggest clubs will have to start preparing for life in the second-tier.As is normal with relegation in any league, they will surely have to cope with the loss of a number of their best players. However, in a fantastic turn of events, Cologne are set to keep their one and only superstar, Jonas Hector.Germany’s first-choice left-back – who often players in central midfield for Cologne – has decided to extend his stay at the club. The tweet from their official Twitter account on Monday morning sparked a brilliant reaction from football fans, with Hector reminding us all that there is still some loyalty left in the game.📝 New contract – Jonas Hector will remain a player of #effzeh: https://t.co/75TGSisT1N— 1. FC Cologne (@fckoeln_en) April 23, 2018He said: “1. FC Köln allowed me to take the path from the regional league (fourth division) to the German national team. I am very connected and thankful to this club and feel very comfortable living in Cologne.“It would have been no problem for me to switch to another club after this season, but it would not have felt right. We had many talks in the past few weeks and I had enough time to think about it. The decision for me is clear: I belong to FC and I want to go into the new season with this team and with these fans.”Football needs more players like him.Read more...

The present measures and the strategy of regular testing have proven that we now can react with individual solutions.”The club stated that it intends to continue training in small groups.Like Heldt, the DFL seemed intent to spin the discovery as a success. The head of the coronavirus task force, Dr. Tim Meyer, said, “We see now in everyday life that our plan is recognizing and reducing risks early. Timo Werner gave an interview to Bild in which he discussed his future. About Bayern, Werner said,“Bayern is a great club. We don’t need to debate that. And Hansi Flick has proven this season that he’s a really good head coach. But if a transfer should ever come up, I’d be drawn rather to go abroad than transfer to Bayern.”As for why, he said: “It’s imply the case that the challenge in another league would appeal to…

The Frenchman has been plagued by injuries, and the glut of midfielders at Bayern hasn’t helped one bit. This means that publications around the world are linking him with moves all over the place. Now, Man United are the latest team to allegedly join the fray. With the future of Paul Pogba up in the air, the Red Devils apparently want to bring Tolisso to England as a replacement. If that’s true, they’re in for a nasty surprise — Tolisso isn’t really a creative AM like Pogba, but more of an all-round central midfielder. Of course, Man United not doing their homework is nothing new, but the sheer number of potential competitors they have for Tolisso’s signature is staggering.Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and Napoli are all mentioned as possible destinations for the Frenchman. That’s a lot of clubs. In addition, the Express article also mentions that United tried to get Tolisso on loan in the winter, but were rejected — which is news to me. On principle, you probably shouldn’t believe anything written in the Express, but there’s a decent chance that Tolisso might leave Bayern this summer. 1. FC Köln v 1. FC Nürnberg - Second Bundesliga Photo by Pau Barrena/Getty Images Is Jonas Urbig the “Next One”? According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has identified its pick to potentially succeed Manuel Neuer — FC Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig: Jonas #Urbig is currently Bayern’s top candidate for next summer to become the backup goalkeeper behind Manuel #Neuer, who is set to extend his contract until 2026 in the coming days. The basic requirement for the transfer of Urbig is that Daniel #Peretz will be loaned out in the summer to gain regular playing time at a high level. A loan for Peretz is under consideration. There is no agreement or ongoing negotiations regarding Urbig yet, but the 21 y/o top talent from 1. FC Köln is currently at the top of the list. #effzeh It seems that Bayern Munich is seeking to bring in Urbig, have him get some spot time behind Neuer in 2025/26, and use that framework to decide whether he will be ready to step in for Neuer in 2026/27.Needless to say, the focus could be shifting toward Urbig and away from Daniel Peretz (expected to be sent on loan during the summer) and Alexander Nübel (expected to stay at VfB Stuttgart for next season).Let the games begin...Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s 6-0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg? International FriendlyFrance U21 v Germany U21 Photo by ANP via Getty Images Bayern Munich is working hard to get its next goalkeeper... According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich submitted another bid to FC Köln for goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, but was — again — rejected: Excl | FC Bayern have submitted a second official offer to 1. FC Köln for Jonas #Urbig! Bayern have increased their fixed transfer fee, which was previously at 5 million euros, now offering more. However, Köln’s Managing Director, Christian Keller, has also rejected this second offer as #Effzeh are not satisfied yet. But Bayern won’t pay any price. Negotiations are ongoing. If true, this shows Bayern Munich persistence in pursuing the player. Bayern Munich seems to be very serious about this move, so it will not be shocking for them to go back at least one more time with another proposal. Bayern Munich is in the midst of a number of important contract situation, so let’s talk about them on the Bavarian Podcast Works Show!
