RT @ArmchairAdml: #USAF United States Air Force - Middle East Activity
24 January 2026 - 2225z

Additional movements into Diego Garcia this afternoon, as well most of the flights from Robert Gray Army Airfield making their way to the Middle East.

Note: All the information in these posts is obtained via public sources (FlightRadar24/ADS-B/ACARS), and discrete movements are omitted.

Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait
Boeing C-17 Globemaster III 3x
#AE146D 07-7175 - REACH 423
#AE080F 99-0169 - REACH 849
#AE123B 04-4130 - REACH 550

Three C-17's have arrived in Kuwait from Robert Gray Army Airfield, joing REACH 577 which arrived yesterday. REACH 872 is still at Spangdahlem, and REACH 851 has not yet departed for Europe.

Diego Garcia Naval Support Facility, British Indian Ocean Territory
Boeing C-17 Globemaster III 2x
#AE2FA6 08-8194 - REACH 857 (Kadena Air Base)
#AE1459 06-6155 - REACH 345 (Pearl Harbor)

Two flights into Al Udeid have now moved on to Diego Garcia. There were two flights from Pearl Harbor, with the other (REACH 847) still being at Ramstein. I expect this will also visit Al Udeid and Deigo Garcia.

Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida
Boeing KC-46 Pegasus 4x
#AE63C4 21-46088 - GOLD 82 (McGuire AFB)
#AE5FA7 11-46060 - GOLD 81 (McGuire AFB)
#AE63C8 21-46092 - GOLD 72 (McGuire AFB)
#AE63B5 20-46073 - GOLD 71 (McGuire AFB)

Four KC-46's from McGuire Air Force Base have positioned at Homestead Air Reserve Base ahead of CORONET East 035. Two F-16 squadrons are based at Homestead, so it is possible these will either be complementing, or replacing, the Aviano F-16's currently deployed in the Middle East.

Potential Involvement
Boeing C-17 Globemaster III 1x
#AE1171 02-1099 - REACH 868 (Norfolk Naval Station)
#AE2FAD 08-8201 - REACH 826 (Robert Grey AA)
#AE4F12 10-0218 - REACH 871 (Robert Grey AA)
#AE07FF 98-0053 - REACH 855 (Robert Grey AA)
#AE2FA4 08-8192 - REACH 874 (Robert Grey AA)

REACH 868 departed Norfolk Naval Station has travelled to Rota and Sigonella, before moving to Bahrain International Airport.

Four additional C-17's have either travelled to, or filed for, Robert Grey Army Airfield under a similar mission code to the previous six.

Summary
No additional tanker movements today, apart from the CORONET movements. We are still lacking Air Force 5th-gen aircraft in CENTCOM, and I expect to see some move before any strikes take place, plus additional C-17 flights from bases housing air defence equipment.

We're now looking at least fourty seven C-17 flights since the 16 January, fifteen tankers to either Moron or Al Udeid, and an additional four tankers for another CORONET mission.

Any additions or corrections please let me know. Thanks!

#USAF United States Air Force - Middle East Activity (CORONET)
24 January 2026 - 1635z

Boeing KC-46 Pegasus 4x
#AE63C4 21-46088 - GOLD 82
#AE5FA7 11-46060 - GOLD 81
#AE63C8 21-46092 - GOLD 72
#AE63B5 20-46073 - GOLD 71

Four KC-46 Pegasus tankers are positioning from McGuire Air Force Base to Homestead Air Reserve Base in Florida on a CORONET East tasking. As they're positioning quite far south, the receivers may make their stop in either Lajes or Moron rather than in the UK, before continuing on to the Middle East.

This is just a quick supplementary update because of the GOLD tanker movements, a full update (including this) will be posted later tonight, hopefully with more information.

U.S. Air Force C-17A Globemaster IIIs have once again begun to steadily flow eastward out of Robert Gray Army Airfield located inside of Fort Hood, Texas, after a several-day delay due to the ice and snow, with the C-17s likely carrying additional Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Anti-Ballistic Missile Systems assigned to the U.S. Armyโ€™s 62nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment to bases in the Middle East.

#USAF United States Air Force - Air Defence Movements
29 January 2026 - 1130z

Nine C-17's from Robert Gray Army Airfield, otherwise known at Fort Hood, have either departed, or are waiting to depart. Fort Hood houses two THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defence) anti-ballistic missile batteries of the U.S. Army - B and E Battery of the 62nd Air Defence Artillery Regiment.

This brings the total number of C-17's from Robert Gray to sixteen.

Aside from that, and CORONET East 037 which moved about two hours ago, COBRA 31 arrived at RAF Mildenhall from Offutt AFB. It's unknown whether this will continue on to the Middle East. This is the WC-135 variant used for detecting nuclear explosions in the atmosphere. These have been deployed to Mildenhall multiple times in the past.

#AE07FF 98-0053 - REACH 855 (Robert Gray)
#AE2FA4 08-8192 - REACH 874 (Spangdahlem)
#AE1468 07-7170 - REACH 851 (Spangdahlem)

There have been nine movements from Robert Gray/Fort Hood in the past 12 hours. At least one has travelled directly from Texas to Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany, while the others clearly have heavy loads and are making stops at McGuire, Pease and Dover.

Other Movements
Boeing C-17 Globemaster III 2x
#AE20CA 07-7189 - REACH 858 (Dover AFB)
#AE1469 07-7171 - REACH 300 (Roosevelt Roads)

REACH 858 has arrived at Ramstein from Dover AFB, it may possibly continue on to the Middle East. Additionally, REACH 300 from Roosevelt Roads has arrived at Lajes.

Summary
The resumption of movements of the THAAD batteries is clearly in full swing. In total, there are sixteen flights from Robert Gray Army Airfield.
- Five have travelled via Spangdahlem to Ali Al Salem Air base in Kuwait
- Six are either at, or en route, to Spangdahlem
- Four are en route to stop-over bases on the U.S. East Coast
- One has travelled to Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia

Any additions or corrections please let me know. Thanks!

Isa Air Base, Bahrain
Boeing C-17 Globemaster III 1x
#AE07FD 98-0051 - REACH 850

REACH 850 is the first flight to arrive at Isa Air Base in Bahrain. It originated from Kadena Air Base and is likely the first of many carrying MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air (SAM) systems.

Tanker Deployments
Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker 1x
#AE04D1 63-7984 - REACH ???

Another KC-135 has appeared in the Middle East at Al Udeid today, having last been spotted at MacDill AFB from Sumpter Smith ANGB on 27 January.

This makes at least twenty two KC-135's at Al Udeid, and four KC-46's at Prince Sultan.

Any additions or corrections please let me know. Thanks!

#USAF United States Air Force - Middle East Activity
2 February 2026 - 1320z

U.S. Air Force Airlifter activity appears to be shifting from Robert Gray Army Airfield (Fort Hood) to Kadena Air Base, Japan. There are currently six in-progress flights originating from Kadena, and four more flights from Fort Hood having arrived in Jordan.

Kadena Air Base in Japan is home to the 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment. The 1st Battalion operates the MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air (SAM) system, whereas Fort Hood is home to B and E Battery, 62nd Air Defence Artillery Regiment operating Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) anti-ballistic missile defence systems.

Additionally, there have been a number of flights from Roosevelt Roads Naval Air Station headed over to Europe, most likely to support the (currently) six F-35A's of the Vermont Air National Guard that were relocated from their deployment at Roosevelt Roads to Jordan.

NOTE: All information is obtained via public sources (ADS-B/ACARS), and this list is by no means exhaustive.

Kadena Air Base, Japan
Boeing C-17 Globemaster III 6x
#AE2FA6 08-8194 - REACH 811 (Spangdahlem)
#AE117C 02-1110 - REACH 879 (Elmendorf AFB)

#AE49C5 09-9209 - REACH 830 (Elmendorf AFB)
#AE2FAE 08-8202 - REACH 898 (Misawa)
#AE07FD 98-0051 - REACH 850 (Spangdahlem)

Of the six flights from Kadena, three have arrived at, or filed for, Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. Two are headed to Spandahlem, and one has gone to Misawa Air Base.

These are likely stop-off points due to the heavy loads, rather than collecting more equipment.

Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan
Boeing C-17 Globemaster III 5x
#AE20C9 07-7188 - REACH 853 (Roosevelt Roads)
#AE146E 07-7176 - REACH 865 (Robert Gray)

#AE123A 04-4128 - REACH 864 (Robert Gray)
#AE2FAD 08-8201 - REACH 809 (Robert Gray)

Four additional flights from Robert Gray Army Airfield brings the total to eleven just to Jordan. A second flight from Roosevelt Roads, likely carrying equipment for the Vermont ANG F-35A's which have redeployed to Jordan.

A total of 109 USAF C-17's have arrived/filed/en route to six bases in the Middle East, with a further 9 in progress

#USAF United States Air Force / #RAF Royal Air Force - Middle East Activity
6 February 2026 - 1900z

A total of one hundred and nine C-17's have arrived/filed/en route to six bases in the Middle East, with a further nine in progress flights. Additionally, there has been movement of Royal Air Force F-35B's from RAF Marham to RAF Akrotiri, as well as a number of Typhoon FGR.4's returning from Saudi Arabia.

NOTE: All information is obtained via public sources (ADS-B/ACARS), and this list is by no means exhaustive.

As things stand, the RAF currently have the following aircraft at RAF Akrotiri and in Qatar:
Typhoon FGR.4: 14 (10x Akrotiri, 4x Qatar)
F-35B: 6x (Akrotiri)
Voyager: 2x (Akrotiri)

This is the current breakdown for USAF flights into the CENTCOM AOR:

Arrived/En Route/Filed via ACARS: 109
Muwaffaq Salti Air Base: 64
Al Udeid Air Base: 13
Prince Sultan Air Base: 13
Diego Garcia NSF: 9
Ali Al Salem Air Base: 7
Isa Air Base: 3

Pending flights: 9
Biggs Army Airfield: 4
Robert Gray Army Airfield: 3
Anniston Army Depot: 1
Francis S. Gabreski ANGB: 1

RAF Akrotiri, Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia

#43C7A3 ZK426 - ASCOT 9966X
#43C792 ZK364 - ASCOT 9967X

RAF Akrotiri is a busy base at the moment. There are already six Typhoon FGR.4's based there for Operation Shader duties, and today the four that participated in exercises in Saudi Arabia have returned - it's possible these will return home to the U.K. in the coming days.

Six F-35B's from RAF Marham departed today for Akrotiri, and tanker ASCOT 9221 came with them. There are now two tankers at Akrotiri. Again, it's possible one of these will depart with the four Typhoon's on exercises.

Additional flights from Robert Gray and Biggs Army Airfields. Also, there is now a flight from Anniston Army Depot - it will be interesting to see if there are more flights from here in the next few days.

Tanker Movements
We still haven't seen anything major in terms of tanker movements. REACH 787 departed Naval Station Rota after being stuck for a few days. GOLD 41 also departed, headed back to Bangor Air National Guard Base.

Currently there are three tankers positioned at Bangor:
#AE04CC 62-3499 - GOLD 83

GOLD 82/83 are on Coronet East 035 moving "VT" F-35A's, whereas GOLD 41 is on 037 moving E/A-18Gs. I'm unsure as to why GOLD 41 has moved from Moron to Bangor, considering the two remaining E/A-18's are still at Moron.

#AE1177 - 02-1105 - REACH 274 (Anniston Army Depot)
#AE49C5 - 09-9209 - REACH 804 (Biggs AAF)

Additional flights from Robert Gray and Biggs Army Airfields. Also, there is now a flight from Anniston Army Depot - it will be interesting to see if there are more flights from here in the next few days.

Tanker Movements
We still haven't seen anything major in terms of tanker movements. REACH 787 departed Naval Station Rota after being stuck for a few days. GOLD 41 also departed, headed back to Bangor Air National Guard Base.

Currently there are three tankers positioned at Bangor:
#AE04CC 62-3499 - GOLD 83
#AE0506 61-0293 - GOLD 82
#AE5FAE 15-46067 - GOLD 41

GOLD 82/83 are on Coronet East 035 moving "VT" F-35A's, whereas GOLD 41 is on 037 moving E/A-18Gs. I'm unsure as to why GOLD 41 has moved from Moron to Bangor, considering the two remaining E/A-18's are still at Moron.

There have now been at least 140 US Air Force flights to the Middle East & Diego Garcia since January 14th, according to @ArmchairAdml

"With 79 total flights from bases housing Patriot and THAAD systems, we are possibly nearing completion of the air defence movements"

#USAF United States Air Force - Middle East Activity
10 February - 1130z

There has now been at least 140 flights of U.S. Air Force C-17 and C-5 aircraft from bases in the United States and Japan to the CENTCOM AOR since 14 January.

These flights have been primarily from U.S. Army Airfields, followed by U.S. Air Force bases related to deployed fighters. The breakdown of the flights is as follows:

Arrived/En Route/Filed via ACARS: 140
Muwaffaq Salti Air Base: 83
Prince Sultan Air Base: 19
Ali Al Salem Air Base: 13
Al Udeid Air Base: 13
Diego Garcia NSF: 9
Isa Air Base: 3

There are currently only three flights in-progress, two from Biggs AAF, and the other from Robert Gray AAF.

There have been two CORONET movements today. The first was an attempted move of the 12x "MO" F-15E Strike Eagles of Mountain Home Air Force Base from Souda Bay to Moron. The second being the 6x "VT" F-35As at Naval Station Rota relocating to Moron.

NOTE: All information is obtained via public sources (ADS-B/ACARS), and this list is by no means exhaustive.

#AE07C2 63-8020 - BLUE 62
#AE04E8 60-0356 - BLUE 61

Two of the four BLUE tankers that arrived at Moron over the past few days positioned further to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Along with two based tankers at Al Udeid, BLUE 61/62 and BLUE 71/72 flights departed Al Udeid for Souda Bay, where 12x F-15E Strike Eagles from Mountain Home AFB had moved on the 9th February.

The rumour had been that they would fly to RAF Lakenheath without tanker support, making another stop at Aviano. These tankers were due to take them to Moron, but weather at Moron meant they cancelled. The tankers returned to Moron, and the fighters remained at Souda Bay.

RT @ArmchairAdml: #USAF United States Air Force - Middle East Activity
12 February - 2200z

There have now been at least 147 flights of U.S. Air Force C-17 and C-5 aircraft from bases in the United States and Japan to bases in the CENTCOM AOR, via primarily Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany.

The breakdown of the destinations looks like this:
Muwaffaq Salti Air Base: 87
Ali Al Salem Air Base: 15
Al Udeid Air Base: 13
Prince Sultan Air Base: 19
Isa Air Base: 3
Diego Garcia NSF: 10

Of these 147 flights, 106 of them came from these five airfields:
Robert Gray Army Airfield: 49
Biggs Army Airfield: 25
Anniston Army Depot: 6
Roosevelt Roads NAS: 12
RAF Lakenheath: 14

Three C-17s either arrived at, or are en route to, their final destination in the Middle East:
#AE49C6 09-9210 - REACH 699 (Vieques)
#AE2FA2 08-8190 - REACH 347 (Anniston AD)
#AE1468 07-7170 - REACH 841 (Biggs AAF)

REACH 699 and REACH 347 are headed to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, where 12x F-15Es, 6x F-35As are currently based. REACH 841 is to Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

There are five currently in-progress flights:
#AE145B 06-6157 - REACH 789 (Robert Gray AAF)
#AE146E 07-7176 - REACH 702 (Robert Gray AAF)
#AE20C9 07-7188 - REACH 334 (Biggs AAF)
#AE2FAD 08-8201 - REACH 837 (Anniston Army Depot)
#AE1239 04-4129 - REACH 271 (Roosevelt Roads NAS)

The vast majority of the flights so far have been from Army Airfields supporting the deployment of THAAD and Patriot air defence systems, and deploying equipment from RAF Lakenheath and Roosevelt Roads for the F-15Es and F-35As that have been moved from those bases.

#USAF United States Air Force - Middle East Activity
11 February - 2150z

The rate of flights has slowed somewhat over the past 24 hours. There hasn't been a shift from Army Airfields to Air Force bases yet, so the airlift is still primarily moving air defence systems.

The six "VT" Vermont Air National Guard F-35A's which moved to RAF Lakenheath on Monday moved to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan today.

NOTE: All information is obtained via public sources (ADS-B/ACARS), and this list is by no means exhaustive.

Cell 3: TABOR 43/44 (17-5280/17-5239) w/ GOLD 82

The six "VT" F-35As from Burlington Air National Guard Base departed RAF Lakenheath this morning with support from the three KC-135s that brought them over from Vermont earlier this week. The other six are still at Moron Air Base in Spain.

#AE1463 06-6165 - REACH 862 (Roosevelt Roads NAS)
#AE20C9 07-7188 - REACH 872 (Biggs AAF)

There have now been 10 flights from Roosevelt Roads NAS where the 12x "VT" F-35As have been, plus one from Burlington ANGB. For comparison, there were 14 from RAF Lakenheath to Salti for the 12x F-15Es that deployed to Jordan.

REACH 143 has arrived at Diego Garcia from Kadena Air Base. Many of the other flights from Kadena that went to bases in the Middle East instead flew East via Elmendorf, Bangor and Germany. For this one to fly direct from Japan to Diego Garcia suggests this is it's final destination.

The number of U.S. Air Force C-17 and C-5 flights from the U.S. have increased to at least 152, with another three arrivals in Jordan, and one each in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the two E/A-18G Growlers and six "VT" F-35As have finally departed Spain for Jordan.

With reports from Reuters[1] that the U.S. are preparing for "sustained, weeks-long operations against Iran", the 152 number is likely to begin growing significantly and shift from Army Airfields to Air Force Bases, as well as flights supporting U.S. Navy deployments.
