πΊ A courageous young French woman, with honor, embraced Islam and led her mother to the path of Islam.
π Reporting by Rahyafte (Comprehensive Base of Missionaries and New Muslims)
The process of embracing Islam is increasingly witnessed despite the wave of Islamophobia propagated by Western media. It involves an individual accepting the faith and Islamic teachings, thereby adopting a new religious identity as a Muslim. In this context, an 18-year-old French girl decided to embark on this transformative journey and embraced Islam. She declared her Shahadah in a mosque in the city of Chlef, Algeria, leaving an impact not only on herself but also on the congregation and the Imam.
Soraya shares her thoughts, stating, "I am happy and proud to have chosen Islam as my religion."
Responding to a reporter's inquiry about her interest in Islam, she explains, "I had heard about Islam before and became curious to learn more. I started reading about Islam and Muslims, which further fueled my curiosity. After that, I decided to become a Muslim."
The Imam who witnessed Soraya's declaration of faith affirms her choice, stating, "She chose Islam willingly and entered it with complete belief and confidence, without any coercion or pressure."
Soraya, discussing her name, adds, "After embracing Islam, I was not compelled to change my name because I already liked the non-French name Soraya."
She further explains, "I had some knowledge of the Islamic faith from my childhood, but I wasn't a Muslim. Over the years, as I heard more about Islam, my curiosity grew, and gradually, my motivation to change my religion from Christianity to Islam increased."
Soraya joyfully expresses, "I take pride in being a Muslim. Since then, I feel a sense of humility and servitude towards God."
Following Soraya's conversion, her mother Angelina also embraced Islam and adopted the name Khadija. Subsequently, she married an Algerian from Chlef and migrated from France to Algeria to live in the city where Soraya and herself converted to Islam.
Khadija reflects on her daughter's religious transformation, saying, "I had noticed a change in her behavior at home and school, and I suspected something had happened. When I learned that she had become a Muslim, it intrigued me, and I, too, made an effort to learn more about Islam, ultimately leading to my own conversion."
In conclusion, the Imam of the mosque urged new Muslim individuals and their families to seek guidance from the mosque leaders. He provided them with contact information to facilitate the necessary steps for obtaining the certificate of conversion issued by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. #InspiringConversion #MuslimJourney #FamilyInIslam π€²β¨

Sumayyah Meehan, a newly converted American Muslim: β
Embracing Islam has opened up a world of learning for me. There's so much to discover and understand about Islam, aspects that continue to pleasantly surprise me. π Follow my journey and insights at @rahyafte_enβ¦
American Journey: Sumayyah Meehan's Transformation
β Sumayyah Meehan, a seasoned journalist, marketer, and independent graphic designer, embarked on a remarkable journey 23 years ago when she embraced Islam. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Sumayyah holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
π° According to reports from Rahyafte (a comprehensive platform for missionaries and new Muslims), Sumayyah reflects on her conversion story with gratitude and humility, emphasizing the clarity and ease of understanding found in the Quran.
π Follow her insightful journey at @rahyafte_en.
Discovering Islam: A Clear Path to the Heart
Sumayyah recalls her conversion, stating, "Thanks to God's mercy, I spent the first half of my life as a Christian and the second half as a Muslim." She vividly describes the moment she stood in a local mosque, reciting the Shahadah, marking the beginning of her transformative journey.
"I have learned a lot on this path, and I am grateful to God for where I am. Only with Islam did everything make sense. The Quran is explicit, and its ease of understanding quickly penetrated my heart."
A Healing Journey
Sumayyah admits that after her Shahadah, moments of despair followed. While content with being a Muslim, she struggled to find support in learning the religious principles, prayers, and ablution. However, she discovered that seeking guidance from the Muslim community was the key to overcoming these challenges.
"As a new Muslim over the past two decades, there are still unknowns about Islam that surprise me. I remain a lifelong student of this magnificent faith."
God Replaces Everything
One of the significant lessons Sumayyah learned as a new Muslim is the potential disruption of friendships and family relationships when one changes their religion. Reflecting on her Christian upbringing, she nostalgically remembers family holidays and traditions. However, she found solace in replacing those bonds with a stronger connection to God.
"Leaving my old faith may have distanced me from that community, but God proved to be sufficient."
Islam: A Home for the Heart
Sumayyah expresses gratitude for building a Muslim family within the global Muslim community. She cherishes online connections with sisters worldwide and values the support and trust she finds in her local community. Most importantly, her children, now Muslims, contribute to the sense of belonging to one large family.
Next Chapter
Looking back, Sumayyah almost forgets there was a time when she wasn't Muslim. Every day, month, and year devoted to worshiping the one God has been a fulfilling time for her. With five children, she eagerly anticipates the next chapter in her life's journey.
