Written by #Muhammed_Hussein_Tabatabai, with the translation, editing, and introduction by #Sayyed_Hussein_Nasr, it was the first text to be written by a top Shi'a scholar and intended for western readership.
🔰How it began
In 1962, #Kenneth_Morgan, university chaplain and professor of religious studies at Colgate University, initiated a project to produce a text specifically dealing with Shi'a Islam, introducing the Islamic sect to the non Muslim western reader, written from a true Shi'a perspective.
The aim of Professor Morgan to have a description of Shi'ism by one of the respected traditional scholars of the Shi'a, led him and collaborator Seyyed Hossein Nasr, to Allamah Tabataba'i in 1963.
#Allameh_Tabatabaei was particularly well suited for this task; he was a pillar of intellectual Shi'a thought who combined interest in jurisprudence and Quranic commentary with philosophy, theosophy, and Sufism, and represented a more universal interpretation of the Shi'a point of view.
💢The project took 6 years to complete, and was followed by two more extending volumes. William Chittick of SUNY collaborated with the editing, and the book was published by the State University of New York Press in 1975.
It remains a classic textbook for westerners trying to gain an introductory understanding of Shi'a Islam.

📣 Gaza: Karbala Repeats Once Again…
🔻 Dr. Mohammad Taher, an Iraqi doctor in Gaza, in a meeting with Abdul-Mahdi Karbalai, representative of Ayatollah Sistani:
▫️ The most astonishing experience I had was when a group of my Gazan colleagues asked me to listen to a beautiful and emotional Iraqi melody. When I listened, I realized it was actually a lament for Imam Hussain (a.s.).
▫️ Imam Hussain (a.s.) is not just for one sect or group. He is the beacon of guidance, the ark of salvation, and a lesson for all times.
▫️ Every time I saw the wounded or martyred women and children, I envisioned Lady Zainab (a.s.) and the captive children of Karbala.
▫️ A heartbreaking memory was when they brought in an infant, less than a year old, with a head injury. Half of his head was burned and blackened. I rushed him to surgery, but as I transferred him from the stretcher to the operating table, I couldn't help but think of Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) infant son.
▫️ Through it all, I kept thinking about what Imam Hussain (a.s.) endured, how he remained steadfast despite all the oppression. I constantly reminded myself that no matter what, our message is one of resilience—even if we are cut into pieces and martyred.

🔰 The Virtue of This Prayer:
#Sunday_Prayer_of_Dhu_al-Qa'dah
A narration from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) describes the virtues of this special prayer. Whoever performs it:
– Will have their repentance accepted,
– Their sins forgiven,
– Their life and family blessed,
– Those who have any claims against them on the Day of Judgment will be satisfied,
– They will die with faith,
– Their grave will be spacious and filled with light,
– Their parents will be pleased with them and forgiven,
– Their descendants will be granted forgiveness,
– Their sustenance will be increased,
– The Angel of Death will be gentle with them and take their soul with ease.
🔰 How to Perform the Prayer:
The Prophet (PBUH) described the following method:
– On a Sunday in the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah, perform ghusl (ritual washing),
– Perform wudu' (ablution),
– Then pray four rak‘ahs (in two sets of two, each with one salam).
In each rak‘ah:
– Recite Surah al-Fātiḥah once,
– Surah al-Ikhlāṣ (Qul Huwa Allāh) three times,
– Surah al-Falaq once,
– Surah al-Nās once.
After completing the prayer:
– Say “Astaghfirullāh” (I seek forgiveness from Allah) seventy times,
– Then say:
"لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ"
Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāhil-‘aliyyil-‘aẓīm
"There is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great."
– Then say:
"يَا عَزِيزُ يَا غَفَّارُ، اغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي وَذُنُوبَ جَمِيعِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ."
Yā ‘Azīz, yā Ghaffār, ighfir lī dhunūbī wa dhunūba jamī‘il-mu’minīn wal-mu’mināt, fa innahu lā yaghfiru dh-dhunūba illā ant.
"O Mighty, O Forgiving, forgive my sins and the sins of all believing men and women, for no one forgives sins except You."

When I was taken up to the heavens (Mi'raj), my Lord — Glorified and Exalted be He — revealed to me and said:
❝O Muhammad (PBUH), I looked upon the Earth and selected you from among its people, and made you a Prophet.
I derived your name from My own: I am al-Mahmood and you are Muhammad.
Then I looked again and chose Ali (AS), making him your successor, your caliph, the husband of your daughter, and the father of your progeny.
I derived for him a name from My own: I am al-‘Aliyy al-A‘la (the Most High), and he is Ali (AS).
I created Fatima, Hasan, and Husayn (AS) from your two lights, and then presented their wilayah (divinely-appointed authority) to the angels.
Whoever accepted their authority, I counted them among My close servants (al-muqarrabīn).❞

🌹 A Hadith from the Prophet (PBUH)
In a long narration describing the virtues of Lady Fatimah (SA), the Prophet (PBUH) said:
❝When Fatimah (SA) would stand in her mihrab (prayer niche), seventy thousand of the closest angels (al-mala'ika al-muqarrabīn) would greet her with peace.
They would speak to her just as the angels once addressed Maryam (SA), saying:
"O Fatimah, indeed Allah has chosen you, and purified you, and chosen you above the women of all the worlds."❞
