At home brain stimulation for depression found to be safe and effective. Rates of treatment response and remission were three times higher in the active treatment arm compared to the placebo arm, where 44.9% in the active arm demonstrated a remission rate compared to 21.8% of the control group.

Brain stimulation helps partially paralyzed patients walk again - Two patients with spinal injuries have seen improvements in their ability to walk again, thanks to deep brain stimulation (DBS). Intriguingly, the therapy targets a region of the brain that normally isn’t associated with motor skills.

🧠 University of Iowa neuroscientists have shown non-invasive brain stimulation (TMS) can effectively change activity in the deep brain's hippocampus, crucial for emotion and memory.

💡 Personalizing the stimulation site using a patient's unique brain connections significantly boosted the neuromodulation effect in a study of 8 neurosurgical patients.

📈 In a separate non-invasive study with 79 healthy participants using TMS with fMRI, stronger connectivity between the stimulation site and the hippocampus correlated with stronger responses.

Noninvasive magnetic stimulation of a specific brain region that regulates self-control significantly reduced how much people smoked, reduced nicotine cravings and may help people quit, finds new double-blind, sham-controlled randomized clinical trial. Read…
🧠 New study suggests a brain stimulation technique, rTMS, can significantly reduce smoking. Researchers at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center found that stimulating the brain's "self-control" region (DLPFC) led to an average reduction of over 11 cigarettes per day.

🧠 This brain-based approach targets the imbalance in addiction, where reward systems become overactive and control systems weaker. The high-frequency stimulation to the DLPFC enhanced the brain's control center and showed lasting effects for at least a month, unlike approaches targeting reward signals.

🧠 The findings, published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research on March 4, 2026, indicate that strengthening the brain's ability to say "no" may be a more effective strategy for smoking cessation than trying to suppress cravings.

Noninvasive brain stimulation helped people with social anxiety better control avoidance behaviors in a new study, suggesting targeted stimulation of specific brain regions may improve responses to feared social situations. Read Full Article #SocialAnxiety…
⚡ A new study published in The Journal of Neuroscience indicates that applying a specific pattern of mild electrical stimulation to the brain can help individuals with high social anxiety better control automatic avoidance behaviors by synchronizing brain centers.

⚡ In a small study of 49 adults with high social anxiety, researchers used dual-site transcranial alternating current stimulation to synchronize brain regions responsible for cognitive control and movement.

⚡ Participants performed better on a challenging task requiring them to override emotional impulses when receiving "in-phase" electrical stimulation, which strengthened connections between brain areas and reduced the amygdala's influence on movements.

⚡ The intervention showed promising results in helping participants override automatic reactions, with benefits potentially enhanced by individual brain responses and anatomy, paving the way for future personalized treatments.
