✨ Sex & Stress: The Short-Term Relief
A recent study found that while sex can reduce stress on the same day it occurs, these benefits generally do not last into the next day. This immediate stress reduction was observed universally across participants regardless of gender or marital satisfaction.

✨ Motivation Matters for Stress
The reason behind sexual activity significantly impacts its emotional outcome. Sex initiated to avoid relationship conflict was linked to increased stress levels 24 hours later, while sex for approach motives showed some evidence of lower next-day stress.

✨ Study Details: Newlywed Couples
The research, published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, analyzed data from 645 individuals (319 couples) who were newlyweds, averaging less than six months of marriage. Participants completed daily diaries for 14 days, reporting on sexual activity, stress, anxiety, satisfaction, and motives.

🐾 Petting your dog after a stressful event can help your body better handle future challenges. A study found that physical touch with your own dog, but not just sitting near them or making eye contact, buffered stress responses for a subsequent test.

🧠 While immediate recovery wasn't faster, touching your dog led to calmer brain and heart responses during a second stress test, showing a protective effect. This suggests physical contact prepares you for the next challenge.

🐶 The study involved 64 dog owners in Austria. They engaged in two blocks of a stress test and recovery period, either with or without physical contact with their dog.
