🎼21 June 1944. Happy Birthday 🥳🍾to Sir Raymond Douglas Davies, better known as Ray Davies, born and grew up in Muswell Hill, my favorite place for living in London! 😃🔝
Singer, leader and founder along with his brother Dave of The Kinks in the 1960s, for sure one of the most influential rock bands in history, and not only because they are considered the "Godfathers of Brit Pop" (if you listen to #Blur or #Oasis and go back 30 years... their music was already here thanks to The #Kinks) ! 🤟
In the Chat Room👇the first hit penned by Ray Davies in 1964, You Really Got Me, pure Hard Rock far ahead of its time! 🎸🔥 #21June #vocalist

🎼15 January 1965. A young rock band from London, UK release their second 45 (or 7 inch) single, the first under the new name they chose for the group: The Who!
I Can't Explain was written by #guitarist and main songwriter Pete Townsend when he was 18, who candidly admits in the liner notes the resemblance of this song with another contemporaneous rock hit 😳: All Day and All of the Night by the #Kinks.

During the rehearsals of I Can't Explain a young #JimmyPage took part as sessionman 🎸 though not credited on the final recording: both #TheWho and Page recalled this years later.
I Can't Explain would become a The Who classic and a rock standard, covered by many artists and bands, some more in the Chat Room👇
This is one of what they call Rock Stories ❤️‍🔥 #RockMoments
