🎼21 June 1944. Happy Birthday πŸ₯³πŸΎto Sir Raymond Douglas Davies, better known as Ray Davies, born and grew up in Muswell Hill, my favorite place for living in London! πŸ˜ƒπŸ”
Singer, leader and founder along with his brother Dave of The Kinks in the 1960s, for sure one of the most influential rock bands in history, and not only because they are considered the "Godfathers of Brit Pop" (if you listen to #Blur or #Oasis and go back 30 years... their music was already here thanks to The #Kinks) ! 🀟
In the Chat RoomπŸ‘‡the first hit penned by Ray Davies in 1964, You Really Got Me, pure Hard Rock far ahead of its time! 🎸πŸ”₯ #21June #vocalist

Blur
πŸ“€ The Great Escape
#BritPop #AlternativeRock

30 years ago Blur from Essex, #UK released their 4th studio album.

The Great Escape is the band's best-selling album and spawned #Blur most succesful singles, "Country Life", "Stereotypes", "Charmless Man".

It is considered the final album of the so called Blur Britpop era, started with their 1993
πŸ‘‰ Modern Life Is Rubbish and followed by their 1994
πŸ‘‰ Parklife.
If you listen to songs like "Globe Alone" or "The Universal" you can understand why Blur was not just Britpop.

With this "album of the week" I intend to celebrate this amazing trilogy: great band, probably more appreciated in retrospect than in those days🀘

In this album:
#DamonAlbarn β€“ vocals, piano, keyboards, organ, synthesiser
#GrahamCoxon β€“ guitars, banjo, saxophone, backing vocals
#AlexJames β€“ bass, backing vocals
#DaveRowntree β€“ drums, percussion, backing vocals
#11September
