Palantir Technologies (PLTR) Shares Fall Despite Strong Earnings

Palantir Technologies (PLTR), a company specialising in big data analytics software, released a strong quarterly report this week:

→ Earnings per share: actual = $0.21, expected = $0.17
→ Revenue: actual = $1.181 billion (up 63% year-on-year), forecast = $1.09 billion

Palantir thus reaffirmed its status as a leader in the field of artificial intelligence. Yet, despite the impressive results, PLTR shares fell following the release. Why?

It is likely that much of the optimism had already been priced in during the company’s 150% rally earlier this year. In other words, the drop in PLTR’s share price appears to have been driven purely by market sentiment and overly high expectations, rather than any weakness in the company’s fundamentals.

Technical Analysis of Palantir Technologies (PLTR)

Back in August, when analysing PLTR’s price movements, we:
→ confirmed the relevance of the ascending channel (shown in blue) and highlighted support around the psychological level of $150;
→ suggested that, following a spike in volatility, the price could resume its upward trend.

As the chart’s arrow indicates, this scenario indeed played out – the lower boundary of the channel acted as strong support. Building on that level, the bulls demonstrated conviction, pushing the price through key resistance zones at $160 and $170.

In October, the price broke out of a Bullish Flag (marked by an arrow) and subsequently rose above the psychological barrier of $200.

However, the chart has since taken on a more bearish tone because:
→ the price failed to hold above $200 – creating what looks like a FOMO bull trap;
→ the median line of the channel acted as resistance;
→ following the earnings release, a bearish gap appeared in the $190–200 zone, which may now serve as future resistance.

For the bulls, much depends on whether support at the lower boundary of the channel can hold. Based on the current setup, that task looks more challenging than it was in August.

Dollar Index Pulls Back from a Key High

As the Dollar Index (DXY) chart shows, the index is currently trading below its 5 November high, which formed after a false bullish breakout (marked by an arrow) above the 1 August peak — a scenario previously outlined in the post “The Dollar Index Near a Key High.”

According to Trading Economics, trader sentiment at the start of the week is being shaped by expectations of comments from ECB and Federal Reserve officials regarding the outlook for monetary policy.

A statement has already come from Reserve Bank of Australia Deputy Governor Andrew Hauser, who noted that financial conditions in the country are now close to a neutral rate — one that neither stimulates nor restrains economic growth. The Australian dollar strengthened following his remarks.

Technical Analysis of the DXY Chart

The previously drawn ascending channel remains relevant for the Dollar Index, with several important technical features:
→ The channel median has switched its role from support to resistance (as indicated by its colour change from blue to red).
→ The QL line, which divides the lower half of the channel into quarters, is currently acting as support for the DXY.
→ The index has fallen below the psychological level of 100 points.

It appears that the 3.7% rally in the Dollar Index since mid-September has attracted sellers, while late buyers may have been trapped near the top of the recent move.

Additional support may be found near 99.45, where a double-top pattern (A–B) previously formed. However, if this level is breached, the DXY could extend its decline towards the lower boundary of the channel.

Nasdaq 100 Rebounds as Traders Anticipate End of the US Shutdown

As the chart shows, the Nasdaq 100 index (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) has started the week on a positive note amid growing expectations that the longest government shutdown in US history may soon come to an end.

According to Reuters, a bill has been introduced in the Senate proposing amendments to extend government funding until 30 January. The news acted as a bullish catalyst for equity markets. Still, the question remains – is the risk truly behind us?

Technical Analysis of the Nasdaq 100

Analysing the hourly chart of the Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) on 4 November, we:
→ Drew an ascending channel;
→ Noted signs of momentum exhaustion, as mentioned in our previous headline.

Since then, price action has evolved as follows:
→ The lower boundary of the channel provided support (1), prompting a brief rebound;
→ The 25,770 level acted as resistance (2) on two occasions, strengthening the bears’ confidence to push for a downside breakout — which ultimately succeeded.

The index’s subsequent movements have now more clearly outlined the formation of a descending channel (shown in red).

From the demand-side perspective:
→ After a false bearish breakout below 24,680 (showing characteristics of a Liquidity Grab pattern), the market staged an aggressive rally from point B;
→ Today’s session opened with a bullish gap, and the price has moved above the red median line.

From the supply-side perspective:
→ The 25,500 level, where sellers gained control during the previous channel breakout, may now act as resistance;
→ If the A→B move is viewed as an impulse, today’s rally appears to be a corrective rebound consistent with Fibonacci proportions — suggesting that downward momentum could resume within the red channel.

Buffett to Shareholders: “I’m Going Quiet”

Legendary investor Warren Buffett, the 95-year-old head of Berkshire Hathaway, has marked the end of an era by publishing what he called his “final letter” to shareholders on 10 November. The “Oracle of Omaha” announced that he is “going quiet”, bringing to a close his famous annual essays that have guided generations of investors for nearly six decades.

In this letter, Buffett:
→ noted that he will continue to communicate with shareholders through an “annual Thanksgiving message”;
→ announced a new $1.3 billion donation to four family foundations;
→ paid tribute to the late Charlie Munger and reflected on the “incredible luck” that has shaped his life.

Buffett also confirmed that his successor, Greg Abel, will formally assume the role of CEO by the end of 2025, expressing full confidence in the man who will oversee the legacy of one of the world’s greatest investors.

Technical Analysis of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B)

The technical outlook for Berkshire Hathaway’s Class B shares (BRK.B) in 2025 appears mixed. In spring, the stock faced two downward catalysts:
→ April: announcement of new tariffs by Donald Trump;
→ May: a quarterly earnings report that fell short of expectations.

Since then, BRK.B has formed a descending channel, within which:
→ a key low (point A) was established;
→ a strong August report sparked a confident rebound towards the channel’s upper boundary (point B);
→ that upper boundary has since acted as persistent resistance.

Given these developments, it is reasonable to assume that:
→ the move from B → C could represent a correction following the earlier A → B impulse;
→ the $488 level, which shows signs of support, may enable the bulls to break through resistance and resume the longer-term uptrend.

This analysis of BRK.B can be summed up with Buffett’s final piece of advice — one that transcends markets: “Kindness costs nothing, but it is priceless.”

The Shutdown Ends: How Will Gold Prices React?

According to Reuters, the U.S. Senate on Monday approved a compromise deal to bring an end to the longest government shutdown in the country’s history.

During the shutdown:
→ millions of Americans lost access to food assistance programmes;
→ hundreds of thousands of federal employees went without pay;
→ air travel was severely disrupted.

The uncertainty surrounding the potential continuation of the shutdown appears to have contributed to a breakout in the price of gold (as a traditional safe-haven asset) above its recent consolidation zone, marked by black lines on the chart.

However, further gains could be capped not only by fading risk aversion but also by a less obvious resistance level, which the XAU/USD rate has reached today.

Technical Analysis of the XAU/USD Chart

Using the key pivot points (highlighted in bold), we can trace a descending channel, with the gold price now testing its upper boundary, where resistance may emerge.

Another argument supporting this view is that the price currently sits around the 50% retracement level of the A→B downswing. This area may attract sellers seeking to defend the downward trajectory of gold.

Whether this resistance line holds — or the bulls attempt to reignite the autumn rally — will largely depend on the tone of upcoming economic releases (delayed by the shutdown) and their impact on market expectations for a possible Federal Reserve rate cut.

Musk Could Earn a Trillion: How Are Tesla (TSLA) Shares Reacting?

According to media reports, earlier this month Tesla shareholders approved a new 10-year compensation package for Elon Musk worth up to $1 trillion. But is this good or bad news for TSLA shares?

→ On the plus side, Musk is now firmly “tied” to the company and highly motivated to achieve extraordinary goals — such as reaching a market capitalisation of $8.5 trillion and launching mass production of Optimus robots.
→ On the downside, the price of this decision could be high. The targets appear almost fantastical, and their achievement would mean dilution of existing shareholders’ stakes through the issuance of new options.

As a result, Tesla’s share price has been fluctuating, reflecting market indecision and consolidating after the news. A closer look at the TSLA chart offers clues as to what may happen next.

Technical Analysis of TSLA

From a bullish perspective, Tesla’s share price remains within an upward-sloping trend channel, where:
→ the median line is showing signs of acting as support;
→ the sharp rally in September formed a demand zone, where an imbalance between buyers and sellers triggered a strong move higher — the upper boundary of this channel, around the psychological $400 mark, could act as a support level going forward.

From a bearish point of view, the key barrier remains the current all-time high, which continues to cap the ongoing rally (roughly +100% from this year’s low).

Given these factors, it is reasonable to assume that TSLA is currently in a consolidation phase. The situation could eventually resolve in favour of the bulls if the price holds the lower boundary of the channel — as seen previously, when a similar consolidation period preceded a breakout above the $360 resistance level.

EUR/JPY Reaches Record High

As the chart shows, the pair climbed to a new all-time high of ¥179.80 per euro today.

The main driver has been the weakening of the Japanese yen, which continues amid fresh statements from government officials. According to Reuters:

→ Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said her administration prefers to keep interest rates low and called for close coordination with the Bank of Japan — a factor contributing to yen weakness.
→ Meanwhile, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama issued a verbal warning about the yen’s weakness, noting “one-sided and rapid moves” in the currency market. In theory, this should have supported the yen, but judging by today’s USD/JPY movements, the impact was limited.

Technical Analysis of EUR/JPY

Price action continues to form an ascending channel (marked in blue). Following the early October news of Sanae Takaichi’s victory, who is viewed as a proponent of economic stimulus, the yen weakened, and EUR/JPY moved into the upper half of the channel.

Since then, the upper boundary has acted as a key resistance level. Today’s record high serves as yet another test of strength for that level. Given that the RSI is in overbought territory, and long-position holders may be tempted to take profits (at least partially), the market appears vulnerable to a pullback.

Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that we may see:
→ a bearish break of the support line that has held since early November;
→ followed by a retracement to retest the former resistance level around 178.70. A deeper correction towards the channel’s median is also possible.

The future direction of the yen will largely depend on market expectations regarding a potential Bank of Japan rate hike — a likely scenario, as a weak yen increases inflationary pressure on food and energy prices.

Meta Platforms (META) Shares Fall to Key Support

In November, Meta Platforms (META) shares have shown bearish momentum following the company’s quarterly report, which included a one-off income tax expense of $15.93 billion (as previously noted).

Investor concerns have been further fuelled by the company’s plans to raise capital expenditure to $70–72 billion in 2025, aimed at expanding data centre infrastructure and acquiring AI chips. However, after a decline of more than 20% from the autumn peak, bulls may soon attempt a comeback.

Technical Analysis of META

When analysing META’s chart on 31 October, a descending channel (shown in red) was identified. As of today, the share price has reached a support block formed by the following key elements:
→ the lower boundary of the descending channel;
→ the psychological level of $600 per share;
→ and the May bullish gap area.

It is also worth noting that the RSI is approaching oversold territory, and a false bearish breakout below the $600 psychological level could create a bullish divergence.

Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that:
→ the November decline has already priced in the post-earnings concerns;
→ and that bulls may use this support zone as a springboard to resume the broader uptrend.

Natural Gas Prices Hover Near a Three-Year High

As the XNG/USD chart shows today, natural gas prices are trading close to the March peak, which is the highest level since December 2022.

According to Trading Economics, the rise in gas prices has been driven by several factors:

→ Despite short-term warming in the US, weather models point to colder conditions ahead.
→ LNG exports remain elevated, as European buyers continue seeking alternatives to Russian gas. In November, average shipments across the eight major US terminals reached 17.8 billion cubic feet per day, exceeding the previous record of 16.7 billion in October.
→ The International Energy Agency expects global demand for oil and gas to continue rising until 2050, reflecting uncertainties surrounding the pace of the energy transition.

At the same time, chart analysis suggests that the upside potential may be limited.

Technical Analysis of XNG/USD

Price action is approaching a major resistance area, formed by:

→ the upper boundary of the channel, widened after the bullish breakout in late October;
→ the psychological level of $5.000 per MMBtu;
→ the previously mentioned March high.

Meanwhile, the more than 50% rally since early autumn has been significant, and long-position holders may be tempted to take profits. Therefore, if the price attempts to break above these resistance levels, it may result in a false bullish breakout (a buyer’s trap) followed by a pullback.

Coinbase (COIN) Shares Fall Amid Bitcoin Weakness

The Coinbase Global (COIN) chart shows that the cryptocurrency exchange’s share price has dropped below:
→ the psychological $300 level,
→ the previous November low.

Bearish sentiment is largely linked to Bitcoin slipping below a key psychological threshold — as noted earlier this week, the market has seen widespread selling by long-term holders of the leading cryptocurrency.

Meanwhile, the overall share price picture is increasingly concerning.

Technical Analysis of COIN

Since July, COIN shares have underperformed broader stock indices, and price action has formed a descending channel, which is becoming more pronounced:

→ After forming two lower highs (points A and C), the price is now tracing a bearish 1-2-3-4 sequence, dropping below the intermediate low at B;
→ Analysis of COIN’s price action shows that yesterday’s decline occurred on expanding candles, suggesting that the $300 level — previously acting as support in August and September — could now become a resistance zone;
→ A close below $300 may pave the way for further declines towards the lower boundary of the channel.

On the other hand, bulls may hope that the dip attracts buy-the-dip investors. Notably, the previous break below $275 occurred in an aggressive manner (indicated by an arrow), which could help alleviate some bearish pressure.

Ultimately, the future trajectory of COIN shares will depend heavily on Bitcoin’s ability to reclaim the key $100k level.

Ahead of Nvidia’s (NVDA) Earnings: How the Price Could Move

On Wednesday, after the close of the main US trading session, Nvidia will release its quarterly results — a report seen not merely as another batch of corporate data but as a crucial test for the entire AI-driven bull run.

NVDA shares are up more than 40% since the start of the year, and the company must now prove that this surge is justified and that the AI revolution is still accelerating. According to media reports, Wall Street analysts remain optimistic:

→ Revenue: forecast around $54.9bn, implying roughly 56% year-on-year growth.
→ Earnings per share (EPS): about $1.25 (previous quarter: $1.05).

What should investors focus on?
Of particular importance will be:
→ data on Data Centre revenue, a key indicator of whether the AI boom remains intact;
→ forward guidance, as the market is looking for reassurance that Big Tech will continue to spend heavily on AI.

Technical Analysis of the Nvidia (NVDA) Chart

Recent price action in NVDA points to a sequence that can be interpreted as bearish:
→ 28 October: a strong rally above the psychological $200 level;
→ a failure to hold above that barrier;
→ a pullback on rising volumes (Nasdaq data) with expanding candles in early November.

In the broader market context, it is notable that early November has seen NVDA underperforming major equity indices, signalling firm resistance from sellers around $200.

From a bullish perspective, the decline from the all-time high resembles a correction pattern (shown in red) within a larger uptrend.

However, there is a risk that the market’s high expectations will not be met when the earnings report is published. If that happens, NVDA could extend its decline towards the lower boundary of the rising channel, where support lies near $165.

Gold Price Balanced Amid Heightened Uncertainty

As the XAU/USD chart shows, last week gold prices fell sharply, interrupting the previous upward trend. This decline was driven by two main factors:
→ End of the US government shutdown. This is believed to have reduced short-term economic risks and lessened demand for gold as a “safe-haven” asset.
→ Hawkish statements from Federal Reserve officials, which lowered market expectations for rate cuts. This pushed up US Treasury yields, traditionally putting downward pressure on non-yielding assets like gold.

This week, the market is awaiting a wave of delayed US economic reports that were postponed during the shutdown, including:

→ Labour market data (Non-Farm Payrolls)
→ Inflation data (CPI)

These releases are expected to give traders greater clarity on the future trajectory of Fed interest rates.

Technical Analysis of XAU/USD

From a technical perspective, the price is currently trading at the intersection of two key lines:
→ Resistance line from the upper boundary of the descending channel originating at the all-time high. Buyers attempted to break through this level last week but were unsuccessful.
→ Support line from the lower boundary of the ascending channel, in place since early autumn.

Given the above, it is reasonable to suggest that:
→ the market is in a balanced position, with traders adopting a wait-and-see approach;
→ a breakout from the symmetrical triangle could indicate the direction of the next significant move in gold prices.

Nasdaq 100 Under Pressure

As the chart shows, the Nasdaq 100 index (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) fell today (point 3) to its lowest level in a month, making it the weakest performer among the major US indices. The sell-off in the technology sector has been driven by a double blow:

→ A reassessment of expectations for the Federal Reserve’s next rate move. According to market observers, the probability of a Fed rate cut on 10 December continues to decline and now stands at 43%, compared with 62% a week earlier.
→ Growing scepticism about the valuations of companies linked to artificial intelligence. A Bank of America fund managers’ survey revealed heavy overcrowding in tech: 54% cited “long Magnificent 7” as the most crowded trade, while 45% viewed an AI bubble as the biggest tail risk.

Technical Analysis of the Nasdaq 100 Chart

When analysing the hourly chart of the Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) on 10 November, we identified an ascending channel. However, mounting selling pressure has resulted in:
→ the channel being extended downwards;
→ its former lower boundary (which acted as support) now acting as the median line and serving as resistance.

From the demand perspective:
→ The lower boundary of the expanded channel may prevent a deeper bearish move.
→ The chart shows a sequence of false bearish breakouts (1–2–3), where the price dips slightly below the previous low only to reverse sharply upward — signs of a Liquidity Grab pattern that may indicate buyer aggression.

From the supply perspective:
→ The 25220–25415 zone appears to be a confirmed FVG area, where a clear market imbalance emerged and sellers strongly dominated.

Bulls may attempt to push the Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) back into the ascending channel, but whether this scenario plays out will largely depend on Nvidia’s quarterly earnings report — a key event for the technology sector, scheduled for release tomorrow.

USD/CAD Falls to November Low

The Canadian dollar has strengthened, influenced by several factors — the most important of which is arguably the easing of domestic political tensions.

According to media reports, Canada’s draft budget has passed its first round of voting. Although several stages of review remain, the result suggests that there are enough votes for the budget to be approved in the end.

Had the draft budget failed to pass, it would almost certainly have resulted in the resignation of Prime Minister Mark Carney and the calling of new parliamentary elections less than a year after the previous ones.

With the risk of political turmoil receding, the Canadian dollar effectively “breathed a sigh of relief”, appreciating against other currencies.

Technical Analysis of the USD/CAD Chart

This autumn, movements in the USD/CAD pair have shaped a broad ascending channel. Within this structure:

→ the median line acted as resistance at the start of the week;
→ yesterday’s sharp decline pushed the pair into the lower quarter of the channel, and today the QL line is demonstrating resistance.

This indicates that sellers are currently in control, having:
→ broken through local support at 1.40175;
→ kept the pair below the psychological 1.40000 level.

It is possible that they will attempt to extend this momentum and drive USD/CAD towards the lower boundary of the channel — and if that happens, forex traders may look for opportunities to trade a potential upward reversal from this key support.

Amazon (AMZN) Shares Plunge

As the chart shows, Amazon (AMZN) shares fell to around $222 yesterday, despite trading above $255 at the start of the month.

The price drop is the result of several factors, including:
→ A rating downgrade from Rothschild & Co. Redburn (to “Neutral”). Analysts doubt that Amazon’s massive investments in artificial intelligence will pay off as quickly as its earlier spending on cloud technologies once did.
→ Pressure from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). A court hearing on accusations that Amazon engaged in anti-competitive practices and overcharged US households (by more than $1bn) has been officially scheduled for February 2027.

Technical Analysis of Amazon (AMZN)

Reviewing the chart from 3 November (when the price climbed above $250 following a strong earnings report), we:
→ used the fluctuations in AMZN’s share price to outline an ascending channel (shown in blue);
→ suggested that the initial reaction to the report might have been overly optimistic and pointed to a potential corrective move.

However, the subsequent decline of more than 13% from the November peak appears too deep to be considered a mere correction – the price is now below where it stood before the report was released. It is reasonable to assume that the surge in AMZN above the psychological $250 level on strong news was used to lock in profits from large long positions, and that market sentiment has since shifted dramatically.

Nevertheless, in the short term, AMZN traders may look for a rebound from the lower boundary of the channel. In the longer run, a bearish breakout from the current channel should not be ruled out – especially if news flow around AI takes a gloomier turn. Today, all eyes are on Nvidia’s (NVDA) earnings report.

Tech Stocks Rally After Nvidia’s Earnings Report

As the chart shows, the Nasdaq 100 index (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) is displaying positive momentum today. A strong catalyst for growth arrived with the release of Nvidia’s quarterly report, which exceeded Wall Street’s optimistic expectations.

Nvidia reported quarterly revenue of $57bn (vs. the expected $54.9bn), and earnings per share of $1.30 (forecast: $1.26). Meanwhile, CEO Jensen Huang stated that demand for the new Blackwell chips is “off the charts”.

Nvidia’s strong report revived “risk appetite” in the tech sector and eased concerns about a potential AI bubble.

Technical Analysis of the Nasdaq 100 Chart

Analysing the hourly chart of the Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) two days earlier, we:

→ noted that the previously active upward channel had broadened downwards;
→ suggested a scenario in which the bulls might attempt to return the index to an upward trajectory if Nvidia’s quarterly results were strong.

Yesterday’s report from the equity market leader confirmed that demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure remains enormous, paving the way for the tech-sector rally to continue.

From the standpoint of supply pressure, resistance may come from:
→ the upper red line drawn through the lower November highs;
→ the 25,400 level, which had acted as local support but was decisively broken by a large bearish candle.

On the other hand:
→ the decline towards 24,400 once again activated buying interest;
→ the November drop may prove to be only an intermediate correction, after which the upward trend could resume.

Whether the bulls can maintain positive momentum in the Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) following Nvidia’s strong quarterly figures will depend largely on the outcome of the delayed September US employment report, postponed due to the shutdown.

USD/JPY Rises Above 157.00 for the First Time Since January

According to media reports, the Japanese government is in the final stages of preparing an economic stimulus package worth 21.3 trillion yen (USD 135.38 billion) to help households cope with persistent inflation. This could become the largest stimulus since the COVID pandemic.

The Cabinet plans to approve the package on Friday, and the supplementary budget to fund it on 28 November, aiming to secure parliamentary approval before the end of the year.

This decision has led to a significant weakening of the national currency.

Technical Analysis of the USD/JPY Chart

Fluctuations in the Japanese yen against the US dollar are forming an upward channel (shown in blue), and the fundamental backdrop this week has caused the price to:

→ break the QL line from below (and after the breakout, the rise accelerated, indicating imbalance — forming a Fair Value Gap pattern);
→ reach the median.

It is reasonable to assume that around the median, supply and demand may balance each other, stabilising the market. It is also possible that the FVG area will act as support in the event of a correction.

HSI Index Falls to November Low

Today, the Hong Kong stock index HSI (Hong Kong 50 on FXOpen) is showing downward momentum, dropping below 25,200 for the first time since mid-October.

Factors adding to selling pressure include (according to media reports):
→ Tech sector slump: Hong Kong is following the US, where investors have started offloading tech giants’ shares amid fears of an AI “bubble.” Market participants worry that current company valuations are overinflated. Even Nvidia’s strong report released this week only provided a short-term boost.
→ Geopolitics: In addition to strained trade relations between China and the US, tensions with Japan have added to uncertainty.
→ China’s economic data: Indicators continue to raise concerns despite government stimulus measures.

Technical analysis of the HSI (Hong Kong 50 on FXOpen) shows that price action since late summer 2025 formed an upward channel (marked in blue).

At the same time:
→ on 5 November, the price rebounded sharply from the lower boundary, confirming strong buying interest;
→ this week (as indicated by the arrow), it failed to reverse upwards.

As a result, bears have pushed through an important support level and are attempting to consolidate their gains.

It is possible that:
→ the 25,700 level (where the channel was broken) may act as resistance;
→ bears may grow more ambitious, potentially driving the HSI (Hong Kong 50 on FXOpen) down to test key support around 24,800 in the near term.
