DXY Chart Analysis

The addition of the US Dollar Index (DXY) to FXOpen’s suite of instruments offers traders potential opportunities. This financial instrument:
→ serves as a measure of the overall strength of the US dollar;
→ is not tied to a single currency pair but reflects the value of the USD against a basket of six major global currencies, including the EUR, JPY, and GBP;
→ allows traders to capitalise on price fluctuations in the currency market;
→ is used in more advanced strategies for hedging risks in portfolios sensitive to sharp movements in the US dollar.

In today’s environment of heightened volatility, this instrument becomes particularly valuable. The active stance of US President Donald Trump — through the implementation of trade tariffs, sanctions, and unpredictable geopolitical rhetoric — gives traders even more reason to closely monitor the DXY chart.

Technical Analysis of the DXY Chart

Moving averages show that the US Dollar Index displayed a predominantly bearish trend during the first half of 2025.
However, the picture shifted in July: the index began rising steadily (already up approximately +1.9% since the beginning of the month), highlighted by the blue ascending trend channel.

This suggests that the DXY may have found support following a prolonged decline, and a shift in market sentiment could be underway: after a bearish phase, a period of consolidation may follow. If this scenario plays out, we could see DXY oscillating between the 97.65 and 99.30 levels – both of which show signs of acting as support and resistance (as indicated by the arrows).

PepsiCo (PEP) Stock Rallies 7.4% Following Earnings Report – What Comes Next?

Yesterday, PepsiCo Inc. (PEP) released its quarterly earnings report, which significantly exceeded market expectations:
→ Earnings per share (EPS) came in at $2.12, surpassing the forecast of $2.02.
→ Gross revenue reached $22.7 billion, above the projected $22.3 billion.

In addition, PepsiCo reaffirmed its full-year guidance: the company expects earnings per share to remain virtually unchanged compared to the previous year, while organic revenue is anticipated to grow by a few percentage points.

Executives also outlined development plans for their brand portfolio, emphasising a focus on the growing demand for healthier snacks and a strategic initiative to reduce costs.
These factors contributed to PepsiCo Inc. (PEP) becoming one of the top-performing stocks on the market yesterday – its price surged by 7.4%, reflecting strong investor sentiment. What could come next?

Technical Analysis of PEP Stock Chart

A strong bullish candle formed on the chart yesterday, signalling a spike in demand:
→ The session opened with an impressive bullish gap, decisively breaking through the July resistance level around $137.
→ The share price continued to climb steadily throughout the day, forming a long-bodied candle.
→ The session closed near its high, confirming sustained upward momentum.

Notably, on 27 June (highlighted by an arrow on the chart), the stock posted gains on the highest trading volume of 2025 so far (according to Nasdaq data), which can be interpreted as a potential sign of sentiment reversal driven by institutional investors.

However, the broader picture remains bearish. PEP stock continues to trade within a long-term downward channel, shaped by declining demand for PepsiCo products and intensifying market competition.

Given the above, the following scenario should not be ruled out: the upper boundary of the long-term descending channel may act as resistance in the near term. As the post-earnings euphoria fades, the price could undergo a pullback – for instance, towards the $140 level, which previously served as support.

At the same time, the strong fundamental backdrop, reflecting the company’s operational success, could fuel persistent bullish interest. This may empower buyers to challenge and potentially break the long-standing downtrend in PEP shares.

Nasdaq 100: Market Optimism Builds Ahead of Big Tech Earnings

The earnings season is gaining momentum. This week, major technology companies such as Alphabet (GOOGL) and Tesla (TSLA) are scheduled to release their quarterly results.
Given that 85% of the 53 S&P 500 companies that have already reported have exceeded analysts’ expectations, it is reasonable to assume that market participants are also anticipating strong results from the big tech names. The Nasdaq 100 index (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) set an all-time high last week — a level that may be surpassed (potentially more than once) before the end of August.

Technical Analysis of the Nasdaq 100 Chart (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen)

Price movements have formed an upward channel (marked in blue), with the following dynamics observed:
→ The bearish signals we highlighted on 7 July did not result in any significant correction. This may be interpreted as a sign of a strong market, as bearish momentum failed to materialise despite favourable technical conditions.
→ Buyers have shown initiative by gaining control at higher price levels (as indicated by the arrows): the resistance at 22,900 has been invalidated, while the 23,050 level has flipped to become support.
→ A long lower shadow near the bottom boundary of the channel (circled on the chart) underscores aggressive buying activity.
Should the earnings and forward guidance from major tech firms also come in strong, this could further reinforce the sustainable bullish trend in the US equity market.

Natural Gas Price Drops by 7%

As the XNG/USD chart shows today, natural gas is trading around $3.333/MMBtu, although yesterday morning the price was approximately 7% higher.

According to Reuters, the decline in gas prices is driven by:
→ Record-high production levels. LSEG reported that average gas output in the Lower 48 rose to 107.2 billion cubic feet per day so far in July, surpassing the previous monthly record of 106.4 billion cubic feet per day set in June.
→ Favourable weather forecasts. Although the peak of summer heat is still anticipated, forecasts indicate that temperatures over the next two weeks may be lower than previously expected.

As a result, today’s XNG/USD chart appears bearish.

Technical Analysis of the XNG/USD Chart

The chart indicates that since mid-May, natural gas prices have been fluctuating within a descending channel (marked in red), with July’s peak (E) highlighting the upper boundary of the pattern.

A key resistance area is now represented by a bearish gap, formed between:
→ the former support level at $3.525;
→ the $3.470 level – which, as the arrow suggests, is already showing signs of acting as resistance.

Under these conditions, it is reasonable to assume that the price may continue forming a downward market structure A-B-C-D-E, consisting of lower highs and lows, potentially moving towards the channel’s median – which approximately corresponds to July’s low (around the $3.200 level).

Alphabet (GOOGL) Stock Approaches $200 Ahead of Earnings Release

According to the Alphabet (GOOGL) stock chart, the share price rose by more than 2.5% yesterday. Notably:
→ the price reached its highest level since early February 2025;
→ the stock ranked among the top 10 performers in the S&P 500 by the end of the day.

The positive sentiment is driven by expectations surrounding the upcoming quarterly earnings report, scheduled for release tomorrow, 23 July.
What to Know Ahead of Alphabet’s (GOOGL) Earnings Release

According to media reports, Wall Street analysts forecast Alphabet’s Q2 revenue to grow by approximately 11% year-on-year, with expected earnings per share (EPS) of around $2.17 — up from $1.89 a year earlier. Notably, the company has consistently outperformed estimates for nine consecutive quarters, setting a positive tone ahead of the announcement.

Despite the optimism, investors are closely monitoring two key areas:
→ Cloud computing competition, where Google Cloud contends with Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS;
→ Growing competition in the search sector, linked to the rise of AI-based platforms such as ChatGPT.

In response, Alphabet is significantly increasing its capital expenditure on AI infrastructure, planning to spend around $75 billion in 2025. These investments are aimed at both defending its core search business and advancing the Gemini AI model, while also strengthening Google Cloud’s market position.

Technical Analysis of Alphabet (GOOGL) Stock

Since April, GOOGL price fluctuations have formed an ascending channel (marked in blue).

From a bullish perspective:
→ the June resistance level at $180 has been breached and may soon act as support;
→ previous bearish reversals (marked with red arrows) failed to gain momentum, suggesting sustained demand is pushing the price higher.

From a bearish standpoint, the price is approaching:
→ the psychological level of $200, which has acted as a major resistance since late 2024;
→ this barrier may be reinforced by a bearish gap formed in early February.

Strong results from the previous quarter, combined with optimistic forward guidance from Alphabet’s management, could provide bulls with the confidence needed to challenge the $200 level.

Nikkei 225 Index Surges Above 41,000 Points

As the chart indicates, the value of the Nikkei 225 stock index (Japan 225 on FXOpen) has risen above the 41,000-point level — its highest mark since July 2024.

The primary bullish driver is the conclusion of a trade agreement between the United States and Japan. According to media reports, the deal will involve Japan paying a 15% duty on exports to the US, down from the previous 25% tariff. Shares of automotive companies are among the top gainers on the Japanese stock market.

European stock indices have also risen, as EU officials are scheduled to visit Washington on Wednesday, raising hopes for a potential US-EU trade agreement.

Technical Analysis of the Nikkei 225 Chart

Approximately a month ago, we outlined an ascending channel based on the price fluctuations observed in 2025. This formation remains relevant, and:
→ The price has moved into the upper half of the channel, suggesting that the median line may act as a support level going forward.
→ The nature of the latest price action is worth noting: as an immediate reaction to the news of the deal, two long bullish candles formed on the chart. However, once the price reached its 2025 high, upward momentum slowed sharply.
→ The RSI indicator signals overbought conditions.

Thus, it is reasonable to assume that, following an approximate 3.6% surge over an eight-hour period, the bullish momentum may have largely been exhausted. Nikkei 225 (Japan 225 on FXOpen) could now be vulnerable to a pullback, potentially towards the median line. Nonetheless, the ultimate direction will be shaped primarily by fundamental news.

XAU/USD Chart Analysis: Bulls Break Important Resistance

When analysing the XAU/USD chart last week, we:
→ noted that the ADX indicator had reached its lowest level since the beginning of 2025 – a clear sign of declining gold price volatility;
→ highlighted the formation of a large-scale triangle with its axis around the $3,333 level, bounded by a resistance line (marked in red) and the lower boundary of the ascending channel.

Since then, the price has climbed above $3,400 – reaching its highest level since mid-June. According to media reports, the uptick in demand may be driven by escalating geopolitical risks, renewed optimism regarding potential monetary policy easing in the US, and consistent gold buying from central banks.

This suggests that the balance has shifted in favour of the bulls, who have made an attempt to break through the resistance line – an attempt that, so far, appears promising and points towards a potential resumption of the upward trend.

However, today's XAU/USD chart shows that the bulls are now facing a key resistance level at $3,440 – a level that has reversed gold prices downward both in May and June. What will happen in July?

It is possible that, following a prolonged consolidation near the lower boundary of the channel, the bulls have built up sufficient momentum to finally break through this critical level and push gold prices towards line Q, which divides the lower half of the long-term channel into two quarters.

Tesla Shares (TSLA) Drop Following Earnings Report

Yesterday, after the close of the main trading session on the stock market, Tesla released its quarterly earnings report. While both earnings per share (EPS) and gross profit slightly exceeded analysts’ expectations, the results reflected a negative trend driven by declining sales. This decline is being influenced by intensifying competition from Chinese EV manufacturers as well as Elon Musk’s political activity.

According to Elon Musk:
→ The company is facing “a few tough quarters” due to the withdrawal of electric vehicle incentives in the US;
→ The more affordable Tesla model (mass production expected in the second half of 2025) will resemble the Model Y;
→ By the end of next year, Tesla's financials should become "highly compelling".

Tesla’s share price (TSLA) fell by approximately 4.5% in after-hours trading, clearly reflecting the market’s reaction to the report. Today, the stock is likely to open around the $317 level, down from over $330 just the day before.

Technical Analysis of TSLA Stock Chart

In our analysis of TSLA charts dated 2 July and 8 July, we outlined a scenario in which the stock price could form a broad contracting triangle, with its axis around the $317 level.

The new candlesticks that have appeared on the chart since then have reinforced the relevance of this triangle, as the price rebounded from the lower boundary (as indicated by the arrow) and headed towards the upper boundary. However, yesterday’s earnings report disrupted this upward move.

Thus, while the broader stock market is trending higher (with the S&P 500 reaching a historic high yesterday), TSLA may remain "stuck" in a consolidation phase, fluctuating around the $317 level—at least until new fundamental drivers shift market sentiment.

EUR/USD Rises to 2.5-Week High Ahead of ECB Meeting

Today at 15:15 GMT+3, the European Central Bank (ECB) will announce its interest rate decision, followed by a press conference at 15:45 GMT+3. According to Forex Factory, the main refinancing rate is expected to remain unchanged at 2.15% after seven consecutive cuts.

In anticipation of these events, the EUR/USD exchange rate has risen above the 1.1770 level for the first time since 7 July. Bullish sentiment is also being supported by expectations of a potential trade agreement between the United States and the European Union. According to Reuters, both sides are reportedly moving towards a deal that may include a 15% base tariff on EU goods entering the US, with certain exemptions.

Technical Analysis of the EUR/USD Chart

From a technical perspective, the EUR/USD pair has shown bullish momentum since June, resulting in the formation of an ascending channel (marked in blue).

Within this channel, the price has rebounded from the lower boundary (highlighted in purple), although the midline of the blue channel appears to be acting as resistance (as indicated by the arrow), slowing further upward movement.

It is reasonable to assume that EUR/USD may attempt to stabilise around the midline—where demand and supply typically reach equilibrium. However, today’s market is unlikely to remain calm. In addition to the ECB’s statements, volatility could be heightened by news surrounding Donald Trump’s unexpected visit to the Federal Reserve.

The DAX Index Is Losing Its Bullish Momentum

At the end of May, we noted that the German stock index DAX 40 (Germany 40 mini on FXOpen) was exhibiting significantly stronger performance compared to other global equity indices. However, we also highlighted the 24,100 level as a strong resistance zone.

Two months have passed, and the chart now suggests that bearish signals are intensifying.

From a technical analysis perspective, the DAX 40 (Germany 40 mini on FXOpen) formed an ascending channel in July (outlined in blue). However, each time the bulls attempted to push the price above the 24,460 level (which corresponds to the May high), they encountered resistance.

It is worth noting the nature of the bearish reversals (indicated by arrows) – the price declined sharply, often without intermediate recoveries, signalling strong selling pressure. It is likely that major market participants used the proximity to the all-time high to reduce their long positions.

From a fundamental standpoint, several factors are weighing on the DAX 40 (Germany 40 mini on FXOpen):
→ Ongoing uncertainty surrounding the US–EU trade agreement, which has yet to be finalised (with the deadline approaching next week);
→ Corporate news, including disappointing earnings reports from Puma, Volkswagen, and several other German companies.

Given the above, it is reasonable to assume that bearish activity could result in an attempt to break below the lower boundary of the ascending blue channel.

Alphabet (GOOGL) Stock Chart Analysis Following Earnings Release

Earlier this week, we highlighted the prevailing bullish sentiment in the market ahead of Alphabet’s (GOOGL) earnings report, noting that:
→ an ascending channel had formed;
→ the psychological resistance level at $200 was of particular importance.

The earnings release confirmed the market’s optimism, as the company reported better-than-expected profits, driven by strong performance in both its advertising and cloud segments.

In his statement, CEO Sundar Pichai noted that AI is positively impacting all areas of the business, delivering strong momentum.

The company is expected to allocate $75 billion this year to expand its AI capabilities.

As a result, Alphabet (GOOGL) opened yesterday’s trading session with a bullish gap (as indicated by the arrow). However, as the session progressed, the price declined significantly, fully closing the gap.

This suggests that:
→ the bulls failed to consolidate their gains, allowing the bears to seize the initiative;
→ the ascending channel remains valid, with yesterday’s peak testing its upper boundary;
→ such price action near the $200 level reinforces expectations that this psychological mark will continue to act as resistance.

It is possible that the positive sentiment following the earnings report may weaken in the near term. Accordingly, traders may consider a scenario in which Alphabet’s (GOOGL) share price retraces deeper into the existing ascending channel. In this case, the former resistance levels at $180 and $184 may serve as a support zone.

Europe and the US Sign Trade Agreement, EUR/USD Declines

The past weekend was marked by the official signing of a trade agreement between the United States and Europe, as announced by US President Donald Trump and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen following their meeting in Scotland.

According to reports, the agreement is based on a 15% baseline tariff on goods exported from Europe to the United States, with certain exemptions. As previously reported, a trade agreement with a 15% baseline tariff had earlier been concluded between the US and Japan.

According to President Trump:
→ under no circumstances did he allow the baseline tariff for Europe to fall below 15%;
→ the European Union committed to investing in the US economy, purchasing weapons, and importing energy resources.

The financial markets’ reaction to this news is noteworthy:
→ European stock indices opened the week with a bullish gap, reflecting relief that previously feared tariffs of up to 30% did not materialise;
→ the EUR/USD pair is exhibiting bearish momentum this morning.

Technical Analysis of the EUR/USD Chart

As indicated by the black arrow, bearish sentiment intensified on Monday morning, pushing the pair towards the 1.1700 level, which had previously acted as resistance in mid-July.

From the perspective of the ascending channel (shown in blue), its median line is currently acting as a resistance level – following contact with it, a short-term rally was broken (highlighted in purple). This reinforces the notion that bears are currently in control.

Given the above, we could suggest that, should bearish sentiment persist on the EUR/USD chart, we may soon witness an attempt to break through the 1.1700 support level. A successful breach could open the path for further downside movement of the euro against the dollar, towards the lower boundary of the channel.

Palantir Technologies (PLTR) Shares Surpass $160 for the First Time

Shares of Palantir Technologies (PLTR), a company specialising in big data analytics software, have continued their impressive performance. Following an extraordinary rally of approximately 340% in 2024, the stock remains among the top performers in the equity market:
→ since the beginning of 2025, the share price has climbed by approximately 113%;
→ on Friday, PLTR set another all-time high, with the share price exceeding $160 for the first time.

What Is Driving Palantir Technologies (PLTR) Higher?

The bullish sentiment is underpinned by the following factors:
→ Major partnerships. Among the contracts are an agreement with the US Army to develop a command system, collaboration with Accenture Federal Services, and many others.
→ Positive analyst outlooks, highlighting Palantir’s unique growth model and high margins. Analysts at Piper Sandler have set a price target of $170 for PLTR, while Wedbush recently raised their target to $160.

In addition, investors are looking ahead with optimism to the upcoming quarterly report scheduled for 4 August, which is expected to reinforce Palantir’s leadership position in a market increasingly driven by AI technologies.

Technical Analysis of Palantir Technologies (PLTR) Chart

Price action has formed an ascending channel (shown in blue), with a notable bullish pattern: each pullback (marked with arrows) has been followed by:
→ a lack of further downside momentum;
→ a rebound above the level where the decline began.

From a sentiment perspective, it is reasonable to infer that price dips are perceived not as warning signs, but as opportunities to accumulate a high-performing stock at a relative discount.

Given these factors, we expect that the upcoming earnings report could propel PLTR shares towards the upper boundary of the blue channel.

Nasdaq 100 Index Hits New Highs Ahead of Big Tech Earnings

Earlier, we noted signs of optimism in the Nasdaq 100 index (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) as the market anticipated earnings reports from major tech firms.

Now, companies such as Alphabet (GOOGL) and Tesla (TSLA) have already released their results (we previously covered their charts → here and here). Up next are the most highly anticipated earnings reports: this week, tech giants including Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN), Meta Platforms (META), and Apple (AAPL) are set to publish their results. The combined market capitalisation of these four companies exceeds $11 trillion, and their reports could have a significant impact on a stock market that is already showing strong bullish sentiment:
→ The Nasdaq 100 index (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) has climbed to an all-time high, surpassing the 23,400 mark.
→ The signing of trade agreements between the US and Europe (and earlier, Japan) has eased concerns about the negative impact of tariff barriers.

Technical Analysis of Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen)

The chart supports growing signs of optimism: earlier in July, the price remained within a rising channel (marked in blue). However, towards the end of the month, price action has begun to follow a steeper upward trajectory (marked in purple).

What could happen next? Much will depend on the earnings results and forward guidance from these tech giants.

On the one hand, continued enthusiasm around AI adoption could accelerate further growth. The stronger the optimism, the more fuel it may add to discussions around a potential bubble — with some analysts already drawing parallels to the dot-com era of the early 2000s.

On the other hand, earnings could temper market excitement and prompt a correction. For example, the index may retreat to the support level around 23,020, which is reinforced by the lower boundary of the blue trend channel.

US Dollar Index (DXY) Reaches One-Month High

The US Dollar Index (DXY) has risen to its highest level since early July. According to media reports, the bullish sentiment in the market is driven by the following factors:
→ Optimism around US trade agreements. A new trade deal with the EU — which includes a 15% tariff on European goods — is being perceived by the market as favourable for the United States.
→ Confidence in the resilience of the US economy. Strong Q2 corporate earnings have acted as an additional bullish catalyst. Investors may have started covering short positions against the dollar, viewing concerns over a US slowdown as overstated.
→ Expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates on hold.

From a technical standpoint, today’s DXY chart reflects strengthening bullish momentum.

Technical Analysis of the DXY Chart

Two U-shaped formations (A and B) that developed over the summer have created a bullish сup and рandle pattern — a formation that suggests waning bearish pressure, as evidenced by the shallower second dip.

This setup points to the potential for a bullish breakout above the trendline (marked in red) that has defined the downward movement in the DXY throughout the first half of 2025.

As previously analysed, there are signs that the dollar index may have found a base following a period of decline. This could indicate a shift in market sentiment and the possible end of the recent bearish phase.

EUR/USD Hits Lowest Level Since Early July

As the EUR/USD chart indicates today, the euro has fallen below the 1.1550 mark against the US dollar, reaching the lows of June 2025. As a result, July may become the first month in 2025 to record a decline in the currency pair.

Why Is EUR/USD Declining?

There are two key factors driving the euro’s weakness relative to the US dollar:
→ Anticipation of the Federal Reserve Meeting. At 21:00 GMT+3 today, the Fed’s interest rate decision will be released. According to Forex Factory, analysts expect the Federal Funds Rate to remain unchanged at 4.25%-4.50%.
→ Market Reaction to the US-EU Trade Agreement. The trade deal signed last weekend between the United States and Europe is being critically assessed by market participants.

As noted in our Monday analysis, signs of a bearish takeover emerged on the chart following the agreement’s signing. Since then, EUR/USD has declined by approximately 1.3%. The question now is whether the downtrend will continue.

Technical Analysis of the EUR/USD Chart

The upward channel that had remained valid since mid-May was decisively broken by bears this week. The nature of the breakout (highlighted by the red arrow) was particularly aggressive, with the price dropping from the 1.1710 level to the D point low without any meaningful interim recoveries.

Key observations include:
→ The drop has resulted in a classic bearish A-B-C-D market structure, characterised by lower highs and lower lows.
→ On the 4-hour timeframe, the RSI indicator has fallen into oversold territory, reaching its lowest point of 2025 so far.
→ Notably (as highlighted by the blue arrow), there was a strong rebound from the 1.1455 support level earlier. Bulls demonstrated significant strength at that time, breaking through the R resistance line.

Given these factors, we could assume that after this week’s sharp decline, EUR/USD may attempt a short-term recovery from the support zone (highlighted in purple). Should this scenario unfold, potential resistance may emerge near the 1.1630 level, as this area aligns with:
→ The 50% Fibonacci retracement of the C→D decline;
→ The breakout point of the lower boundary of the previous ascending channel, indicating a shift in market balance in favour of the bears.

UnitedHealth (UNH) Shares Plunge Following Earnings Report

Yesterday, prior to the opening of the main trading session, UnitedHealth released its quarterly results along with forward guidance. As a result, UNH shares dropped by over 7%, signalling deep disappointment among market participants. According to media reports:
→ Earnings per share came in at $4.08, missing analysts’ expectations of $4.48.
→ Revenue guidance was set at $445.5–448 billion, falling short of the anticipated $449.07 billion.
→ Concerns were further fuelled by rising costs and declining profitability, which the company attributed to the continued impact of Medicare funding cuts.

Consequently, the UNH share price dropped to its lowest level of 2025, last seen on 15 May.

Technical Analysis of UNH Stock Chart

In our end-of-May analysis, we updated the descending channel on the UNH stock chart and highlighted that following the recovery from the May low (marked by arrow 1), sellers could regain control. Since then:
→ Throughout June, the share price exhibited signs of supply-demand equilibrium around the psychological $300 level.
→ However, after an unsuccessful rally that formed peak A (which now resembles a bull trap), the balance shifted in favour of the bears. The price began to slide lower along the median line of the descending channel (illustrated by arrow 2).

This pattern was a red flag, particularly against the backdrop of a broadly rising equity market since the beginning of summer. Even if the bulls had hope, yesterday's candle could have completely extinguished it:
→ The session opened with a wide bearish gap.
→ During the day, bulls attempted a recovery, but failed — the candlestick closed at the daily low, leaving a long upper wick, a classic sign of selling pressure.

In this context, we could assume that:
→ Bears may seek to extend their advantage and test the year’s low;
→ The bearish gap area (highlighted in purple), reinforced by the descending channel’s median line, could act as resistance during any potential recovery.

At the same time, the $250 psychological level appears to be a strong support zone. This is backed by the 15 May bullish pin bar formed on record trading volumes — a potential sign of institutional interest in accumulating shares of this healthcare giant in anticipation of a long-term recovery.

Microsoft Stock (MSFT) Soars to Record High Following Strong Earnings Report

As the chart illustrates, Microsoft (MSFT) shares surged sharply after the close of the regular trading session – an immediate market reaction to the company’s strong quarterly results.

According to available data, MSFT's post-market price jumped to $555 per share, exceeding its previous all-time high by more than 8%.

Why Did MSFT Share Price Rise?

The quarterly report provided several reasons for optimism, including:
→ Earnings per share (EPS) came in at $3.65, beating analysts’ expectations of $3.37 by over 8%. Revenue also exceeded forecasts, totalling $76.4 billion versus the projected $73.9 billion.
→ Microsoft’s cloud revenue rose by 27% to $46.7 billion, while Azure’s annualised revenue exceeded $75 billion, driven by growing demand for AI-related services.

In response to these results, Barclays analysts quickly raised their price target for Microsoft shares from $550 to $625.

Technical Analysis of MSFT Chart

It is worth noting that the previous quarterly report was also strong, resulting in the formation of a large bullish gap on 1 May, followed by a sustained upward trend (highlighted by the purple trendline S). Importantly, the gap in the $395–425 range remains unfilled.

Yesterday’s report is also likely to result in a large bullish gap at the market open today, though this time, the market context could lead to a different scenario.

The key factor here is the long-term ascending channel (shown in blue), which reflects MSFT’s price movements throughout 2024–2025. After the previous strong report, the share price moved from the median to the upper boundary of the channel without setting a new record high. However, following the most recent report, the price has surged deep into overbought territory, potentially setting a multi-month high on the RSI and achieving a significant breakout to a new record.

As a result, once the initial excitement around the earnings subsides – and the desire of investors to close long positions intensifies – MSFT could undergo a correction from the upper boundary of the channel. In this scenario, the following support levels could come into play:
→ The psychological level of $550 in the short term;
→ The S trendline, as a possible support during a deeper correction.

Amazon (AMZN) Shares Rise Ahead of Earnings Report

Today, 31 July, Amazon is set to release its quarterly earnings after the close of the regular trading session. Available data show that Amazon (AMZN) shares are exhibiting bullish momentum, reflecting positive market expectations:
→ In July, AMZN shares have outperformed the S&P 500 index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen);
→ Yesterday, following the end of the regular session, AMZN shares surged by approximately 3% in after-hours trading.

The rise in AMZN comes amid strong earnings reports from other tech giants, such as Microsoft (MSFT) and Meta Platforms (META). For example, MSFT shares rose by more than 8% in post-market trading. Their success has likely fuelled optimism that Amazon’s upcoming report will also impress.

All of this has brought noticeable changes to the technical outlook for the AMZN stock price.

Technical Analysis of the Amazon (AMZN) Chart

Following the release of the previous earnings report, price movements have formed an upward channel, as indicated by the Regression Trend tool. However, in recent days, a series of bearish signals emerged:
→ On Thursday, AMZN broke above the $230 level (marked by an upward arrow), but the session closed well below the highs – a sign of selling pressure;
→ Friday and Monday’s sessions produced candles with small bodies, indicating market indecision;
→ On Tuesday, bears took the lead (marked by a downward arrow), with a relatively long candle closing near the session low.

Thus, the chart gave reason to assume that optimistic sentiments were waning. However, today’s session is likely to open near the $237.30 level (as seen in the chart above), effectively negating the bearish interpretation of the previous five candles and shifting momentum back in favour of the bulls.

In this context:
→ Support could be provided by the $230 level as well as the median of the Regression Trend channel;
→ Key resistance could be found at the previous high of $242.23 and the psychological level of $250.

Whether AMZN can surge to a new all-time high will largely depend on the company’s performance in AI – a theme that remains highly relevant in 2025.
