Palantir Technologies (PLTR) Shares Show Strong Growth at the Beginning of March

Shares of Palantir Technologies (PLTR), a company specialising in big data analytics software, have become one of the stock market’s standout performers at the start of this spring.

While the closing price on the last trading day of February was around $137, during yesterday’s session the stock climbed to $155.

Why Is PLTR Rising?

The stock’s strong performance is driven by a combination of fundamental factors, including:
→ Competitors’ problems at the Pentagon: News about temporary restrictions placed on the AI start-up Anthropic in its work with US government agencies has strengthened Palantir’s position as a reliable partner.
→ Use in the Middle East conflict: Analysts at Baird highlighted this week the ability of Palantir’s systems to operate in real time and deliver predictive analytics on the battlefield.
→ Higher price targets: Several agencies (including Zacks and Trefis) have raised their forecasts for PLTR shares amid expectations that revenue growth could reach around 78% by the end of the year.

In addition, technical factors are also playing a role.

Technical Analysis of the Palantir Technologies (PLTR) Share Price

In November 2025, we noted that the chart had taken on a bearish tone and that the $190–200 zone could act as resistance. Indeed, in December PLTR shares made a bearish reversal from that area and fell to around $130 in less than two months, breaking support near $166 (which later turned into resistance).

New data now makes it possible to outline a broader ascending channel. In this context, the price formed a bullish inverted head-and-shoulders pattern (H&S) near the lower boundary in February.

The bullish gap around the $139 level appears to represent a breakout above the neckline of the pattern, while the surge in trading volume highlights the strength of demand.

Considering that the stock has risen by more than 10% over the past week, it may now be regarded as technically overbought, making a short-term pullback a reasonable expectation.

From a broader perspective, however, the bulls’ attempt to resume the long-term upward trend in PLTR shares may ultimately prove successful.

USD/CHF Exchange Rate Rebounds from Multi-Year Low

The resilience of the Swiss economy and inflation remaining below 1% have made the Swiss franc an attractive safe-haven asset amid an extremely tense geopolitical backdrop and elevated gold prices. As the USD/CHF chart shows, the US dollar fell against the Swiss franc below 0.7650 in February — the lowest level since summer 2011.

However, the pair has since begun forming higher lows, suggesting that strong support is emerging in this area. The outbreak of intensified military activity in the Middle East this week has led to a rise in the USD, with the dollar also strengthening against the franc. Market participants may be starting to view the Swiss currency as an overvalued safe-haven asset.

Notably:
→ This week could mark the second-largest weekly gain since the beginning of 2025.
→ The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has already hinted at the possibility of currency interventions due to the “excessive strength of the franc”.

Technical Analysis of the USD/CHF Chart

From a bearish perspective:
→ The 0.7870 level, which acted as support throughout 2025 (before being broken), has predictably served as resistance this week.
→ The rebound from the February low may be interpreted as a bearish flag pattern within the broader long-term downtrend, suggesting the potential continuation of that trend.

From a bullish perspective:
→ Buying pressure has clearly broken through local resistance (the red trend line), meaning the 0.7760 level may now act as support.
→ Price movements are forming the outlines of an ascending channel.

Given that USD/CHF is trading near multi-year lows, it is reasonable to assume that the projected blue trajectory may not represent merely a temporary rebound within a multi-month bearish trend, but could instead be part of a significant bullish reversal. In this scenario, the lower blue trend line takes on strategic importance.

Market Insights with Gary Thomson: USD, CAD, and Commodities in Focus

In this video, we’ll explore the key economic events and market trends, shaping the financial landscape. Get ready for insights into financial markets to help you navigate the week ahead. Let’s dive in!

In this episode of Market Insights, Gary Thomson unpacks the strategic implications of the week’s most critical events driving global markets.

👉 Key topics covered in this episode:

🔸 The most important events of recent days
Global markets have reacted sharply to escalating US–Iran tensions, with oil prices surging, stock indices falling, and the US dollar strengthening. Investors are closely monitoring the situation as uncertainty drives high market volatility.

🔸 US Inflation Rate
Traders are eyeing the US inflation report on 11 March, as recent data shows slowing inflation and hints at potential Fed rate cuts. While the long-term trend may remain unchanged, the report could create short-term volatility in the US dollar and equity markets. Will the upcoming inflation data reinforce expectations for rate cuts, and how might it affect the US dollar and stock indices in the near term?

🔸 Canada’s Unemployment Rate
Canada’s unemployment report on 13 March will provide insight into the labour market, which last month showed a low unemployment rate but declining employment, especially in manufacturing. While the Bank of Canada is expected to keep rates steady, the data could create short-term volatility in CAD currency pairs. Will the upcoming employment figures boost the Canadian dollar or reveal persistent weaknesses in the labour market?

🔸 Multiple US Economic Releases
On 13 March, multiple key US economic indicators — including the PCE Price Index, Personal Income and Spending, Durable Goods Orders, and the second GDP estimate — will be released simultaneously. These reports could trigger short-term volatility in USD currency pairs as traders assess inflation, consumer activity, and business investment trends. How might this combined set of indicators impact the US dollar and overall market sentiment?

WTI Oil Price Rises Above $100

Another shocking Monday for the energy market. Last week’s start was remembered for a bullish gap of more than 10% (which was later followed by a pullback), but today’s market open proved even more volatile (as reflected by the ATR indicator). After a bullish gap of roughly 11%, the price continued to climb, reaching a peak of around $114 per barrel of WTI during the Asian session. This is the highest price since 2022.

The drivers of the rally are obvious – the escalation of the war in the Middle East, with more countries becoming involved. Risks have reached a critical point, with discussions emerging around the scenario of a complete blockade of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. In such a case, oil-producing countries could invoke force majeure as grounds for halting supplies.

Technical Analysis of the XTI/USD Chart

Analysing the oil price chart a week ago, we assumed that the $70 level would act as support. Indeed, the market remained above this psychological level, while rising highs and lows reflected traders’ concerns.

Extreme volatility must be taken into account when applying classical technical patterns. Today, the oil price chart allows us to draw a broad ascending channel with a steep slope. In this context, it is worth noting (as indicated by the arrows):
→ the rapid rise in oil prices within the upper quarter of the channel;
→ the subsequent reversal and a swift decline towards the median.
This price action (essentially resembling a Bearish Engulfing pattern) points to a sharp shift in sentiment.

From the bulls’ perspective → the median of the wide channel, reinforced by the psychological $100 level, may act as support.

However, judging by the extremely wide candle, during which the XTI/USD quote dropped from $111 to $100 today, it is reasonable to assume that the initiative currently lies with the bears. And even if a rebound from the median occurs, it may fade near the $105 level (which has already acted as resistance on lower timeframes).

#DXY #forextrading #tradingtips #marketanalysis #MarketNews

Dollar Index (DXY) Hits Yearly High

Today, the dollar index rose above last week’s peak around the 99.68 level, setting a new high for 2026. This movement is supported by a tense fundamental backdrop:
→ Inflationary pressures from rising oil prices. Markets may be pricing in a “higher for longer” scenario, with elevated Fed rates persisting.
→ Safe-haven demand. Escalation in the Middle East—including strikes on Iran and the rise of hardline leader Mojtaba Khamenei in Tehran—may push market participants towards defensive strategies and the US dollar.
→ Weakness in other currencies. The Middle East conflict can weigh on the yen and euro, as European and Japanese economies remain highly sensitive to energy prices.

Technical Analysis of the DXY Chart

On the morning of 3 March, analysing the DXY chart, we:
→ drew an ascending channel (highlighted in blue);
→ anticipated that military escalation could drive the DXY index to the upper boundary of the channel.

Indeed, on the same day, the dollar index surged:
→ breaking above the channel’s upper boundary;
→ the RSI indicator entered overbought territory;
→ price slightly exceeded the January peak, signalling a possible bull trap.

As indicated by the first arrow, a long upper wick formed at the peak on 3 March, showing seller activity around the 99.60 level. Today’s brief surpassing of last week’s peak confirms this thesis, resembling a Liquidity Grab pattern.

On the other hand, buyers:
→ demonstrated strength at the market open (the bullish gap may continue to act as support);
→ can rely on support from the line dividing the upper half of the channel into two quarters (shown by the second arrow).

Traders should therefore be prepared for a scenario where DXY fluctuations show signs of stabilising near the yearly highs. Key developments around Iran are likely to have the strongest influence on the evolving balance.

EUR/USD Chart Analysis: Pair Rebounds from the Year’s Low

Analysing the EUR/USD chart five days ago, we:
→ constructed a downward channel, noting signs that the bears remained in control;
→ outlined a scenario in which the rate would decline to a new yearly low (and test the lower boundary of the channel).

Yesterday’s price action confirmed these assumptions – the low at H is below the low of 3 February (F), refining the lower boundary of the channel. At the same time, the sharp upward reversal (shown by the arrow) indicates increasing demand, driven by a shift in sentiment due to several factors, including:
→ Trump’s speech, in which the president stated that the war in Iran is progressing successfully and that he has contingency plans for any scenario. This cooled demand for the USD as a safe-haven asset.
→ Expectations of US inflation data scheduled for release tomorrow.

Technical Analysis of the EUR/USD Chart

Recent developments mean that the previously formed sequence of lower extremes A–B–C–D–E–F has been extended with new turning points G and H. However, the EUR/USD chart suggests that this sequence has already been disrupted.

Note that:
→ the price has confidently recovered after yesterday’s bearish gap at the market open;
→ the drop below the F low near the 1.1530 level was extremely brief (a sign of a bullish Liquidity Grab pattern);
→ the market may be sensing the proximity of the psychological 1.1500 level.

Moreover, demand-side forces are today attempting to push the price into the upper half of the channel. Therefore, forex traders should not rule out the possibility of a further recovery in EUR/USD from the fresh yearly low. In this case, former support levels at 1.1680 and 1.1750 may act as resistance to further gains.

#XAUUSD #goldprice #marketanalysis #commodities #MarketNews

Gold Price Holds Near Key Support

As the XAU/USD chart shows, the gold price has been holding within the $5,060–$5,200 range over the past several sessions.

Bullish view: the key support is the lower boundary of the long-term channel that has been in place since the beginning of 2026.

Bearish view: pressure on the price comes from statements by President Trump suggesting that the conflict in the Middle East could end soon. Yesterday, the US president described the operation in Iran as a “small incursion” and a “short-term” measure, which helped ease geopolitical risks and reduce demand for gold as a safe-haven asset.

Technical Analysis of the XAU/USD Chart

On the morning of 2 March, while analysing gold price movements following the attack on Iran, we confirmed the validity of the long-term ascending channel and also:
→ drew a local purple channel;
→ noted that the price was trading in close proximity to resistance lines;
→ suggested that emotions would settle and that the gold price might pull back, with support likely emerging in the $5,250–$5,300 area.

Indeed, later that evening the indicated zone acted as local support (shown by the blue arrow), but by 3 March the pullback had extended to the lower boundary of the blue channel.

It is worth noting that yesterday’s attempt by the bears (marked by the red arrow) failed to gain continuation — a sign that selling pressure may be weakening. Therefore, it would be reasonable to expect bulls to attempt to regain the initiative. A closer look at the XAU/USD chart also reveals that yesterday’s rising local lows form a cup-and-handle pattern.

At the same time, in the near term an important test of bullish intent may come at the breakout level of the purple channel around the $5,250 mark.

XTI/USD Chart Analysis: Oil Prices Remain Volatile

Against the backdrop of military developments in the Middle East, the situation in the oil market is evolving rapidly. Only two days have passed since 9 March, when we published a morning analytical note in which we:
→ highlighted the rise of XTI/USD above $100 and a sharp spike in volatility (as reflected by the ATR indicator);
→ outlined an ascending channel and pointed to signs of a bearish engulfing pattern, suggesting that sellers were gaining the initiative.

Subsequent price action in the following hours confirmed that selling pressure was strong enough to break below the lower boundary of the channel later that same day. This occurred amid statements from President Trump, and a wide bearish candle formed on the XTI/USD chart.

On 10 March, the former lower boundary of the channel (marked by red arrows) acted as resistance while traders closely monitored developments around the Strait of Hormuz. According to The Wall Street Journal, the International Energy Agency proposed the largest oil reserve release in its history, which added another bearish factor for the market.

Technical Analysis of the XTI/USD Chart

Today the oil market remains highly volatile. Although the ATR indicator is pointing lower, its readings remain far above typical levels.

The sequence of lower highs and lower lows in WTI prices over the past 36 hours outlines the structure of a potential downward trajectory (shown in red). However, the chart also suggests that sustained downside momentum remains uncertain. This is reflected in the aggressive rebound from yesterday’s low.

It is possible that the XTI/USD price may continue to fluctuate within the orange range defined by the bearish candle formed on 9 March until significant news emerges that could shift the current balance in the market. In particular, traders remain focused on the risks of further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

S&P 500 Fluctuates Ahead of CPI Report

As the S&P 500 chart (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) shows, the index is trading near the 6,800 level this morning. However, the balance between supply and demand could change significantly after the release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report scheduled for 15:30 GMT+3.

Against the backdrop of military developments in the Middle East and sharp movements in oil prices (as we previously noted, the WTI market remains volatile), today’s data will be an important factor for traders assessing the future policy path of the Federal Reserve. According to Forex Factory, analysts expect headline inflation to remain at 2.4%.

Technical Analysis of the S&P 500 Chart

The chart shows that the 7,000-point psychological level acted as an important threshold at the beginning of 2026 — the price attempted to move above it but failed. It is worth recalling that we highlighted early bearish signals in the article “S&P 500 Hits a Record – But Is Everything Really So Positive?” as early as 13 January.

Since then, bearish pressure has led to:
→ the formation of the descending trend line R;
→ the trading channel (originating in late 2025) being extended downward twofold in early March.

In the context of recent S&P 500 price action, it is important to note that:
→ the lower boundary of the expanded channel has acted as support;
→ the median line is currently showing signs of resistance.

Also note the increasing importance of the 6,700 area:
→ a bearish gap formed there at the beginning of this week;
→ however, the price later moved sharply above this gap, meaning it could potentially act as support in the future.

In the near term, it is reasonable to expect that the release of the data may trigger a spike in S&P 500 volatility. It is possible that the price will test either the red trend line R or the highlighted support area.

USD/JPY Approaches Key Resistance Level

The USD/JPY chart shows a bullish trend at the start of March, influenced by the escalation of military activity in the Middle East.

On one hand, the US dollar is strengthening due to increased demand for safe-haven assets. On the other, the Japanese economy is under pressure because of its heavy reliance on oil imports from the Middle East.

These factors have pushed the pair above 159.20 JPY per USD this week, surpassing the January high (point A). The 2026 peak lies nearby; however, technical analysis suggests that bullish momentum may be fading.

In our note of 26 February, we:
→ updated the wide ascending channel along with the intermediate growth trajectory (shown in purple);
→ highlighted signs of seller activity near 156.600.

As indicated by the arrow on the USD/JPY chart, after a small pullback to the lower purple line, buyers resumed their efforts, with the 156.600 level now acting as support.

Currently, we can observe that:
→ the RSI indicator is forming a bearish divergence;
→ it is becoming increasingly difficult for the price to reach the upper boundary of the purple channel;
→ the brief breach of point A resembles a bearish Liquidity Grab.

Additional bearish factors include:
→ the line dividing the upper half of the long-term channel into two parts;
→ proximity to the psychological 160 JPY per USD level.

It is worth recalling that in 2024, 1 USD briefly exceeded 160 JPY, but this level did not hold, as the Bank of Japan intervened. This context adds significance to the upcoming BOJ announcements, scheduled for next Thursday. Ahead of this event, USD/JPY may consolidate around current levels.

Oracle (ORCL) Shares Jump Above $160

Following a strong earnings report, Oracle shares surged above $160, marking roughly a 1.5-month high:
→ Earnings per share: expected $1.70, actual $1.79;
→ Revenue: expected $16.7bn, actual $17.2bn.

This is the first quarter in 15 years in which both revenue and earnings rose by more than 20%. Additional optimism came from:
→ Cloud infrastructure revenue, which jumped 84% to $4.9bn;
→ Oracle confirming a five-year, $300bn deal with OpenAI (Project Stargate);
→ Total backlog (future revenue) surpassing $553bn.

These developments have the potential to significantly ease downward pressure on ORCL shares, which had been in a downtrend following a record high last autumn.

In our technical note of 5 February, the stock fell below $150, and we:
→ highlighted support levels that could halt further declines;
→ suggested that “smart money” might view prices below $150 as attractive.

That same day, ORCL shares formed a low from which they did not fall further.

Recent price action, including a bullish gap above $160, indicates that buyers are regaining control. However, they may need to exert substantial effort to confirm their strength, given that:
→ the $170 level, formerly support, now acts as resistance (indicated by an arrow);
→ the descending channel (shown in red) remains relevant.

US Dollar Index (DXY) Rises Above the 100 Level

Today the US Dollar Index (DXY) climbed above the psychological 100 mark for the first time in 2026, supported by a tense fundamental backdrop, with the military conflict in the Middle East acting as the main driver.

→ Financial market participants are selling riskier assets (such as equities and emerging market currencies) and reallocating funds into the US dollar, which is traditionally viewed as a safe haven during periods of war.
→ Iran’s statements about potentially closing the Strait of Hormuz, along with strikes on fuel infrastructure, are driving oil prices higher and increasing global inflation risks.
→ The strength of the US economy is also supporting the dollar. Yesterday’s labour market data showed no increase in unemployment.

Technical Analysis of the DXY Chart

On the morning of 9 March, while analysing the US Dollar Index (DXY) chart, we:
→ updated the ascending channel (marked in blue), within which the index had set its yearly high at that time;
→ suggested that DXY price movements might begin to stabilise.

Between 9 and 12 March, the DXY chart showed a pullback followed by a renewed upward move, which remained within the range defined by last week’s levels:
→ support at 98.60;
→ resistance at 99.68.

However, the developments mentioned above allowed bulls to regain momentum and extend the rally within the blue channel. In other words, if the earlier fluctuations between these levels reflected a balance between supply and demand, then today, 13 March, buyers appear to be taking the initiative, showing a willingness to pay more for the US dollar.

At present, the market looks overbought, as:
→ the RSI indicator has moved above the 70 level;
→ the price is trading above the upper boundary of the channel that had contained it since late January.

In the short term, a modest pullback cannot be ruled out, although it is unlikely to significantly alter the current market picture.

Netflix (NFLX) Shares Pull Back After a 30% Surge

On 21 January, while analysing the NFLX chart, we:
→ identified a descending channel and a resistance zone around the $100 level;
→ noted that Netflix shares were showing a sustained downtrend. Selling pressure had been triggered primarily by reports of a potential acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery assets, with the market concerned that Netflix might take on multi‑billion-dollar debt and face intense antitrust scrutiny.

Since then, the situation has shifted markedly. After reaching the lower boundary of the channel near $75, the stock reversed higher, following Netflix’s official announcement that it was walking away from the deal, opting to preserve capital rather than pursue a risky expansion. This sparked a strong relief rally: NFLX shares gapped up significantly and moved into the upper half of the channel.

Further bullish momentum was driven by analyst upgrades, with target prices revised upwards, suggesting a potential transition into a new uptrend.

Technical Analysis of NFLX

It should be noted that the previously drawn descending channel remains relevant, with the psychological $100 area acting as resistance on the way toward the upper boundary.

However, after a roughly 30% rally from the February low, a pullback is natural. The current decline from the 5 March peak can therefore be interpreted as a moderate correction, driven by profit-taking and sales by investors who had previously held through losses and chose to exit.

Attention should be paid to the trading volume on 27 February, which was substantial. The candle following the bullish gap featured a lower shadow, signalling strong buying pressure. Consequently, the $90 level—also near the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement—may serve as support if bulls attempt to return NFLX shares to a sustainable upward trajectory.

Market Insights with Gary Thomson: Where Are Oil, Gas & Global Indices Heading?

In this video, we’ll explore the key economic events and market trends, shaping the financial landscape. Get ready for insights into financial markets to help you navigate the week ahead. Let’s dive in!

In this episode of Market Insights, Gary Thomson looks at the key themes traders may monitor in the coming days. Recent developments in energy markets and rising volatility across global equity indices may play an important role in shaping market sentiment in the week ahead.

👉 Key topics covered in this episode:

🔸 Energy Markets
Energy markets remain highly sensitive to the US–Iran conflict, as disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz push oil prices higher and raise concerns about global supply. Even after the IEA’s record oil release, traders remain skeptical that it will fully offset potential supply shortages. Natural gas markets in Europe and Asia have also surged due to fears over LNG flows from the Gulf region. If disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz persist, could energy prices rise further?

🔸 Global Stock Indices
Global equity markets have become highly volatile after the escalation of the US–Iran conflict, as investors moved away from risk assets. Major indices such as the KOSPI, Nikkei 225, and Euro Stoxx 50 posted sharp declines, reflecting rising geopolitical uncertainty and concerns about higher energy prices. Will geopolitical tensions and rising energy costs continue to pressure global stock markets in the coming days?

In summary, traders will focus on two main themes during the week ahead: developments in oil and natural gas markets and volatility across global equity indices.
