Gold Price Falls to a Monthly Low

As the XAU/USD chart shows, gold prices today dropped below the 3 March low, reaching levels last seen in the third week of February.

Why is gold declining despite the war?

Geopolitical turmoil typically supports demand for gold as a safe-haven asset. However, in the current environment — with the Middle East conflict now lasting more than two weeks — the surge in oil prices and the associated inflation risks have moved to the forefront.

Market participants appear to believe that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates higher for longer. This increases the attractiveness of US dollar-denominated instruments, particularly US Treasuries and money market assets. Rising yields on US government bonds confirm this shift in expectations and simultaneously weigh on gold, which does not generate interest income.

Technical Analysis of XAU/USD

On the morning of 10 March, while analysing gold price movements, we confirmed that the long-term ascending channel remains in effect and also:
→ suggested that its lower boundary could provide support for gold prices;
→ noted that an important test of bullish momentum could come at the breakout level of the purple channel, near $5250.

As indicated by the arrow, the XAU/USD chart showed a continuation of the bullish impulse later that same day. However, the move lost momentum around $5235, forming peak A, after which a sequence of lower highs and lower lows (A–B–C–D–E) developed.

At the same time:
→ the lower boundary of the long-term rising channel was broken following a weak rebound from B to C;
→ a descending channel (shown in red) has now become relevant;
→ the $5060 level may act as an important resistance area, where sellers were strong enough to break the local support S and push gold prices into the lower half of the red channel.

If bears continue to maintain control, the price of an ounce could decline towards the lower boundary of the red channel.

XTI/USD Chart Analysis: WTI Oil Price Fluctuates Near $100

For the third Monday in a row, trading in the oil market has opened with a bullish gap, although this time it is not as wide as the gap seen, for example, on 9 March. The reason for the volatility is clear — the ongoing military conflict in the Middle East, with no visible signs of de-escalation so far.

According to the latest media reports:
→ the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed;
→ over the weekend the United States struck Iran’s Kharg Island, a key hub for the country’s oil export infrastructure;
→ Iran launched an attack on the oil port of Fujairah in the UAE.

Technical Analysis of XTI/USD

While analysing WTI price movements on 11 March, we:
→ identified a local descending channel (shown with red lines);
→ highlighted a sharp reversal on 10 March (marked with an arrow).

Since then, buying pressure has continued to strengthen, largely driven by developments in the Middle East. As a result:
→ the local descending channel was broken to the upside;
→ the breakout zone later acted as support;
→ the XTI/USD chart formed the structure for an ascending channel (shown in blue).

At present, the market retains a bullish bias. For instance, the pullback from B to C represents roughly a 50% retracement of the A–B impulse, while WTI prices remain close to the psychological level of $100 per barrel.

However, the candlestick structure at the market open (marked with an arrow) suggests that sellers were able to push prices lower. Therefore, even if we see an attempt to break above the $100 level in the near term, it may struggle to gain strong momentum.

Nvidia (NVDA) Shares Set a March High

Nvidia shares experienced heightened volatility yesterday, with the price jumping to a March high during the Nvidia GTC 2026 conference, where Jensen Huang made several major announcements. According to media reports:
→ Nvidia unveiled a next-generation platform named after the astronomer Vera Rubin. The new chips are designed for “agentic AI” (AI agents).
→ The company expects total orders for current-generation AI systems (Blackwell) and next-generation systems (Vera Rubin) to reach $1 trillion by 2027. This is double the company’s previous $500 billion forecast announced earlier.
→ Huang also noted that market demand is shifting. While chips were previously purchased mainly for training AI models, demand is now increasingly driven by companies such as OpenAI, Meta and Anthropic, which must serve hundreds of millions of users in real time.

As the NVDA chart shows, the share price rose above the $188.50 level, but later pulled back, which may suggest excessive optimism among buyers and aggressive selling pressure.

Technical Analysis of Nvidia (NVDA)

On the morning of 26 February, while analysing NVDA price movements following the quarterly earnings release, we:
→ updated the long-term ascending channel (which remains intact);
→ pointed to the negative experience of other tech giants earlier in 2026, whose shares rallied briefly after earnings before turning lower (for example, Meta);
→ suggested that if bulls wanted to confirm control of NVDA, it would be important to keep the price above the $192.50 level.

During the main trading session that same day, the $192.50 level was broken by bears on a wide candle accompanied by rising volumes, confirming these concerns. Moreover, the downward momentum continued the following day, eventually leading to the A→B swing.

Overall, bulls still have reasons to remain calm, as:
→ the fundamental backdrop remains optimistic;
→ the lower boundary of the ascending channel continues to act as strong support.

However, the NVDA price chart also presents some warning signs:
→ peak A may represent a bull trap;
→ yesterday’s candle with a long upper shadow could also signal a similar trap.

If this proves to be the case, a test of the lower boundary of the channel would be a logical next step. Such a scenario could significantly alter sentiment in the NVDA stock market.

EUR/USD Chart Analysis: Pair Recovers Ahead of Fed News

On 10 March, analysing the EUR/USD chart, we:
→ considered the long-term descending channel, which remains relevant;
→ noted that the sequence of lower lows A–H was broken with the appearance of a higher peak I, with 1.1680 potentially acting as resistance.

At peak I, bulls exhausted their strength: after forming a consolidation zone near the channel’s median, bears regained control and pushed the price to a new yearly low, driven by a bearish fundamental backdrop.

Tomorrow, the Fed is expected to release its interest rate decision, while the ECB will issue comments the day after. These events could significantly shift market sentiment regarding EUR/USD, and current price behaviour suggests that bulls may attempt a comeback.

Technical Analysis of EUR/USD

Note the following:
→ The descending trendline from last week has been breached; the market is holding above the breakout level around 1.14560.
→ The pair is recovering from oversold territory just below the lower boundary of the channel. The psychological level 1.1500 may provide support.

Thus, traders should consider the scenario in which EUR/USD’s strong movement on Monday–Tuesday is confirmed by upcoming central bank news.

US Dollar Index (DXY) Analysis: FX Markets Await Central Bank Decisions

Today, the focus for FX traders is on the Federal Reserve: at 21:00 GMT+3, the FOMC will announce its interest rate decision (rates are expected to remain unchanged), followed by a press conference with Fed Chair Jerome Powell half an hour later.

In addition:
→ the Bank of Canada will announce its rate decision today;
→ similar events are scheduled tomorrow for the Bank of Japan, the Swiss National Bank, and the Bank of England.

As the DXY chart shows, the index is currently trading near the median of an upward channel that has remained in place since early February — a zone where supply and demand typically balance each other. However, incoming central bank announcements are likely to disrupt this equilibrium.

Technical Analysis of DXY

On the morning of 13 March, when analysing the DXY chart, we:
→ noted that the market appeared overbought, with price trading above the upper boundary of the channel;
→ suggested that a pullback could develop.

Indeed, subsequent price action showed signs of bearish pressure:
→ the formation of a “head and shoulders” (H&S) reversal pattern;
→ a bull trap above the psychological 100-point level.

It is reasonable to assume that the FX market is currently awaiting a crucial wave of fundamental information from central banks, which is particularly significant given ongoing geopolitical uncertainty. Traders should be prepared for increased volatility in the near term — the dollar index may move towards one of the channel boundaries depending on how the market reacts to upcoming news.

XBR/USD Analysis: Brent Crude Rises Above $110

Yesterday, Brent crude prices moved sharply higher, with the XBR/USD chart showing breakouts above local resistance levels. Today, the price has climbed above the $110 mark, bringing it close to the multi-year high recorded on 9 March.

The bullish sentiment in the oil market is being driven by ongoing military tensions in the Middle East. According to recent media reports:
→ US President Donald Trump stated that Israel was responsible for the attack on Iran’s South Pars gas field;
→ Iranian missile strikes on Qatar’s key liquefied natural gas facilities caused significant damage.

Technical Analysis of XBR/USD

Recent price action allows for the construction of an ascending channel on the XBR/USD chart, reflecting heightened concerns over further escalation.

From a bullish perspective (as indicated by the arrows):
→ yesterday’s V-shaped rebound near the line dividing the lower half of the channel suggests strong buying pressure;
→ bulls showed confidence by breaking above the $106.40 level;
→ price remains in the upper half of the channel, with the median line potentially acting as support.

From a bearish perspective:
→ the RSI indicator is hovering near overbought territory;
→ long upper wicks around the $110 level point to selling pressure;
→ the upper boundary of the channel may act as resistance.

Taking the above into account, Brent prices remain under the control of buyers. As such, any pullbacks are likely to be limited in depth. A meaningful reversal would require significant changes in the geopolitical landscape.

XAG/USD Analysis: Silver Drops to March Low

As seen on the XAG/USD chart, the price of silver fell to the $70 level and briefly pierced it, marking the lowest level since early February.

Although geopolitical tensions typically support demand for safe-haven assets, silver is under pressure from expectations of a fresh inflationary surge driven by rising energy prices (as noted earlier, Brent crude has risen above $110).

Yesterday’s “hawkish” comments from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell also played a role. The Fed maintained interest rates, signalling that any future cuts would only occur if inflation stabilises.

Technical Analysis of XAG/USD

On 4 March, analysing the XAG/USD chart, we:
→ drew a blue ascending channel;
→ suggested that price action around the channel’s median could provide key signals.

Over time, the median proved to be a strong resistance. By 10 March, point C had formed, after which:
→ on 13 March, the blue channel was breached;
→ on 17 March, price showed an intraday bearish reversal from the breakout level.

Trading volume analysis indicates that the market remains under considerable pressure.

Although the long lower shadow on the candle near the psychological $70 mark indicates some buyer activity, the overall picture remains bearish. A red descending channel can be drawn on the silver price chart, with its median potentially acting as resistance in the near term, thereby confirming the validity of the constructed channel.

S&P 500 Analysis: Index Falls to Year-to-Date Low

As the S&P 500 chart (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) shows, the index dropped below the 6,570 level yesterday for the first time in 2026. As a result, the equity market may be on track to post a fourth consecutive weekly decline, closing below its 200-day moving average.

Why Are Equities Falling?

Bearish sentiment is likely being driven by the ongoing military conflict in the Middle East:
→ Elevated oil prices are fuelling expectations of a renewed inflationary surge. This suggests the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates higher for longer (as reinforced by Powell’s remarks this week), putting pressure on both the economy and corporate performance.
→ Investors are also concerned that the United States could become drawn into a prolonged conflict with Iran, which may pose significant challenges for the country, despite efforts by officials to calm market sentiment.

According to Trading Economics:
→ US President Donald Trump stated that the US is not considering deploying ground troops to the Middle East;
→ Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent noted that the Iranian regime could face internal collapse;
→ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel may refrain from further strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure, suggesting the conflict could end sooner than expected.

Technical Analysis of the S&P 500

On 11 March, we analysed the index chart and noted that the lower boundary of the broader channel was acting as support (point A), while the median line served as resistance (as indicated by the arrow).

Since then, selling pressure has led to:
→ the formation of a steeper descending trendline (R2);
→ a move down to a new low at point B, below the previously mentioned channel boundary.

From a Smart Money Concepts perspective, it is reasonable to assume that price has entered a Sell-Side Liquidity zone. If so, traders should consider the possibility that the recent bearish breakout below the channel may prove to be false. In that case, the S&P 500 could stage a recovery in the coming sessions, potentially moving back towards the R2 trendline.

GBP/USD Rises Following Bank of England Decision

Yesterday, the Bank of England’s decision had a significant impact on the pound, which strengthened against other currencies. Although the Official Bank Rate remained unchanged at 3.75%, the market was surprised by the “hawkish” signals, which sharply contrasted with the dovish statements made at the February meeting.

According to media reports:
→ None of the nine committee members voted to cut the rate;
→ The phrase stating that the rate “could be lowered in the future” was removed from the final statement.

Thus, the Bank of England indicated that it is ready to raise rates if the energy shock caused by the Middle East conflict accelerates inflation.
The hawkish stance contributed to the pound rising above the upper boundary of the channel in which it had been trading since late January.

Technical Analysis – GBP/USD

Movements in GBP/USD during March suggest that 1.3250 serves as an important support level. Additionally, following yesterday’s news, bulls may find support around 1.3374, where:
→ On 18 March, the market encountered resistance;
→ The upper boundary of the channel was broken yesterday.

On the other hand, the long upper wick on yesterday’s candle (as indicated by the arrow) points to bear activity. Even if the bullish momentum has not yet exhausted itself, further gains in GBP/USD may face resistance at higher levels, including:
→ Psychological level at 1.3500;
→ The high of 10 March;
→ The upper boundary of the expanded double red descending channel.

Gold Price Falls to 2026 Low

As the XAU/USD chart indicates, today, shortly after the start of the trading week, gold fell below $4,150 (the low of the year). The last time prices were at this level was in early December 2025, before the rally towards the all-time high.

Why Is Gold Declining?

Gold prices are being pressured by a combination of factors, including:
→ expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates higher for longer;
→ rising inflation risks driven by elevated oil prices.

In such conditions, market participants may shift capital into bonds, which appear more attractive than gold, as the metal does not generate yield.

Technical Analysis of XAU/USD

On the morning of 16 March, while analysing gold’s price movements, we identified a sequence of lower highs and lower lows (A–B–C–D–E). In addition:
→ key technical support levels were broken;
→ the outline of a descending channel was established;
→ we suggested that if bears maintained control, the price could move towards the lower boundary of the channel.

As the XAU/USD chart shows, by 18 March a renewed bearish impulse had emerged. Price not only declined towards the lower boundary (as marked by the arrow) but also broke below it, providing grounds to expand the descending channel. However, the lower boundary of the extended channel has so far held against selling pressure.

The current situation appears highly stressed:
→ from the March high, gold has lost around 25%;
→ media reports point to the worst week since 1983;
→ virtually any oscillator indicates strong oversold conditions;
→ the ATR indicator has surged to extremely high levels, which may signal cascading liquidations of long positions.

In this environment, traders should take into account the heightened volatility in gold prices in order to manage risk more effectively. A slowdown in the decline cannot be ruled out, supported by:
→ the proximity of the psychological $4,000 level;
→ an elevated geopolitical backdrop, primarily driven by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

AUD/USD Falls Below Key Support

As the AUD/USD chart indicates, the Australian dollar is showing weakness against the US dollar at the start of the week. Notably, we are seeing a bearish breakout below the lower boundary of an important ascending channel that had been in place since December 2025.

Among the key bearish factors:
→ increased demand for the US dollar as a safe-haven asset amid the United States’ involvement in large-scale military actions against Iran. US President Donald Trump has threatened strikes on Iranian power infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, while Tehran has warned of potential attacks on key US and Israeli facilities;
→ a decline in Asian equity markets, which are sensitive to disruptions in energy supplies from the Middle East. In turn, the value of the Australian dollar is closely tied to commodity exports from Australia to China;
→ traders’ expectations ahead of inflation data due to be released on Wednesday.

Technical Analysis of AUD/USD

On 24 February, we confirmed the validity of the ascending channel, within which we:
→ identified signs of weakness during the formation of highs A and B;
→ suggested a potential break below the channel median with a move towards the psychological level of 0.7000.

Indeed, the price failed to surpass high B and moved into the lower half of the channel in early March. As shown by the first arrow, on 3 March it briefly dipped below the psychological 0.7000 level before quickly rebounding, signalling strong demand.

However, the underlying weakness near highs A and B persisted. Between 10–12 March, bulls attempted to break through these resistance levels but failed to hold above the new high. From a Smart Money Concept perspective, this resembles a liquidity grab in the buy-side liquidity (BSL) zone — a bearish signal.

In the short term, a rebound from the March low (around 0.6950) is possible. However, when considering a broader outlook, traders should not rule out:
→ the 0.7000 level turning into resistance;
→ further development of a downward trend within an increasingly well-defined descending channel.

XTI/USD Analysis: WTI Oil Prices Under Pressure from Trump’s Statements

Yesterday, following a false bullish breakout above the psychological $100 level, WTI crude prices fell sharply towards the $85 area. The primary driver of this rapid decline was comments made by the US President.

According to Donald Trump:
→ the United States has postponed planned strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure for five days;
→ productive negotiations are ongoing.

However, Iran later denied these claims, stating that no negotiations to end the conflict were taking place. Moreover, Israel continued its strikes on Iran, while Tehran launched fresh attacks on US assets in the Middle East.

Against this backdrop, the US President’s remarks appear to be a form of verbal intervention aimed at pushing oil prices lower — and, as the XTI/USD chart shows, it is having an effect. Today, WTI crude is trading below last week’s lows.

Technical Analysis of XTI/USD

When analysing WTI price movements on 16 March, we highlighted:
→ strong selling pressure near the psychological $100 level;
→ a support zone that formed after the breakout from a local descending channel.

This support area significantly slowed yesterday’s decline in oil prices. At the same time, recent price action allows for the construction of a broad ascending channel, with its lower boundary acting as an important support level.

From a bearish perspective:
→ the $91.50 level, which acted as support last week, has now turned into resistance;
→ if bulls attempt to develop a rebound from the lower boundary, a key test of their strength will be the $95 level, where bears previously pushed prices below the channel median.

In the near term, a period of consolidation between the lower boundary of the channel and the $91.50 level cannot be ruled out, at least until stronger news catalysts emerge, particularly those related to developments around the Strait of Hormuz.

Tesla (TSLA) Shares Surge Following Musk’s Announcements

According to the chart, Tesla (TSLA) shares had been under significant pressure since the start of 2026: from their December high, they had lost around 25% of their value. The main bearish drivers included:
→ Intense competition from Chinese automakers, particularly BYD.
→ Falling margins. To maintain market share amid fierce competition, Tesla had to offer price concessions.
→ Doubts over whether Musk could launch the Robotaxi project on schedule, given incidents involving the Autopilot system in poor visibility conditions.

However, on 23 March, the shares staged a strong rebound — TSLA gained approximately 3.5% and closed above $380.

The rally was supported by Elon Musk officially unveiling the Terafab project over the weekend — a joint venture between Tesla, SpaceX, and the startup xAI, with investments estimated at $20–25 billion. The plan to build the world’s largest full-cycle semiconductor factory in Texas is intended to supply Tesla with its own advanced chips, including the new AI5 generation, for Full Self-Driving (FSD) systems, Cybercab robotaxis, and Optimus humanoid robots.

Technical Analysis of TSLA Shares

Analysing TSLA’s price on 23 January, we:
→ Updated the ascending channel, which had been in place since summer 2025;
→ Noted signs that bulls were regaining control near the lower boundary of this channel.

Despite this, the shares did not return to the main ascending channel, and the downtrend persisted. This led us to:
→ Draw a descending trendline;
→ Extend a parallel ascending channel downwards, which proved relevant on 5 February when TSLA bounced off its median.

The current upward reversal is notable:
→ It forms a bullish engulfing pattern;
→ It develops near the lower boundary of the parallel channel and the former resistance level at $360;
→ It suggests that Smart Money may be active, as indicated by the largest trading volumes since late January.

Thus, it is reasonable to suggest that the bearish trend for TSLA shares observed in 2026 may be approaching exhaustion.

Alphabet (GOOGL) Shares Fall to 2026 Low

As the chart shows, Alphabet (GOOGL) shares have dropped to their lowest level of 2026, with trading closing well below the psychological $300 per share mark.

Why Have Alphabet (GOOGL) Shares Declined?

The bearish move is driven by a combination of factors, including:
→ Escalating geopolitical tensions. With the prospect of a prolonged US conflict with Iran becoming more relevant, market participants may be reducing exposure to risk assets, favouring stability instead. Technology stocks are particularly vulnerable in such an environment.
→ In March, it was reported that Alphabet plans to allocate $175–185 billion to AI infrastructure this year. These expenditures could weigh on profit margins, while a quick return on investment is far from guaranteed.

In addition, media reports point to pressure from antitrust regulators, downward revisions to price targets by analysts, and share sales by GOOGL executives. Meanwhile, the chart and volume analysis highlight a significant shift in market sentiment.

Technical Analysis of GOOGL Shares

Note the price behaviour during periods of exceptionally high trading volumes. The arrows indicate:
→ A move above the $300 psychological level accompanied by a bullish gap — a sign of emotional buying momentum that gradually faded.
→ A sharp decline in February on very high volumes, suggesting that bears attempted to seize control. The formation of lower highs and lower lows confirms their success.

Yesterday, GOOGL opened with a bearish gap and closed at the low of a wide candle — a clear sign that sellers are strengthening their grip.

Bulls need to regain control quickly; otherwise, if bearish dominance persists:
→ Alphabet (GOOGL) shares may continue to decline within the red descending channel;
→ The $300 level could act as psychological resistance during any recovery attempts;
→ A move towards the $250 level cannot be ruled out.
