BYD luxury electric sedan gets suicide doors and a gemstone grille 🚗🔥

Luxury cars are getting a dramatic new entryway as BYD equips its upcoming flagship sedan with doors that swing open nearly 90 degrees. BYD general manager Hu Xiaoqing confirmed on October 30 that the new Yangwang Altior will feature these suicide doors and a dot-matrix gemstone grille ahead of its debut in Dubai, UAE, around November 5.

The vehicle measures about 5,500 millimeters in length, putting it in the same size category as a Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class or Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Prices for the executive sedan are rumored to start around 2 million yuan, which translates to about $300,000. That sits well above the brand's current U7 electric sedan that starts at 658,000 yuan.

Promotional images also show the sedan charging at a BYD Flash Charge station, pointing to rapid energy replenishment alongside potential solid-state battery technology planned for upcoming high-end models.

Armed combat robot tested for frontline operations

ARX Robotics and ROBONEERS completed integration tests of the SABER weapon module on the GEREON uncrewed ground vehicle on October 29. This platform aims to provide remote fire support in active conflict zones by allowing operators to manage weapons from a safe distance.

The system pairs a .50-caliber M2 heavy machine gun or a 40 mm MK 19 automatic grenade launcher with the mobility of the GEREON vehicle. This setup allows the unit to maneuver into position and return fire while soldiers remain out of the direct line of sight.

The companies plan to deliver the first armed configurations to defense forces by the end of 2026.

GEREON units already operate in the field for non-combat tasks like transporting supplies, electronic warfare, and medical evacuations. Adding the weapon module transforms these vehicles into active combat support units that keep personnel away from frontline hazards. 🤖
