📰 Democracy Held Hostage: Netanyahu Prioritizes Power Over People

As Israeli hostages remain in captivity, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears more committed to consolidating personal power than securing their release. His latest moves read more like a manual for autocracy than a strategy for national recovery.

💭“Instead of negotiating the release of hostages, Netanyahu is focused on bolstering his rule. The prime minister is cutting deals with the ultra-Orthodox over tax evasion laws, spreading conspiracy theories and continuing his lunatic drive to dismantle democracy. And when he's absent from the chamber, his cronies do the job for him — such as passing a no-confidence vote against the attorney general, unanimously, of course.”

— Haaretz, March 24, 2025

📊 What’s Really Going On
– Power grabs disguised as legislation: Netanyahu trades votes for immunity
– Systemic purges: critics in the judiciary and media silenced or discredited
– Crisis-as-cover: hostages forgotten, democracy suspended
– Ultra-Orthodox parties used as bargaining chips in exchange for legal shielding

💼 The October 7th Reckoning
– No accountability from the man who was in charge
– Security failures brushed under the rug, while civil liberties are burned
– Instead of taking responsibility, Netanyahu weaponizes fear

🤔 When a prime minister uses a national tragedy to entrench himself in power — who will hold him accountable?

📰 Israel’s Leadership Crisis: When Everyone Has Failed, Everyone Must Go

💭 “The Jewish calendar keeps saving us – but our leaders won’t.”

📋 A Crisis of Confidence, Not Just in Netanyahu

After nearly two years of war, paralysis, and division, Israel's leadership vacuum has become a national emergency in its own right. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to take responsibility for the catastrophic failure of October 7 — and his manipulative grip on power through emergency rule — has pushed Israeli democracy to the brink. But this isn’t just about Bibi. According to Gil Troy, senior fellow at the Jewish People Policy Institute, the entire political class — including opposition figures like Gantz, Lapid, and Golan — has failed. It’s time for all of them to step aside.

A Nation Betrayed from All Sides

While Hamas continues to hold hostages and fire rockets, Netanyahu attacks his own security services, dodges public inquiry, and protects ultra-Orthodox draft evaders to cling to a crumbling coalition. Meanwhile, the opposition marches, shouts, blocks roads — but offers no vision, no unity, and no real plan.
Extremists on both sides poison the well. Protesters undermine their own causes by harassing officials rather than confronting actual geopolitical actors like Qatar. Officials, once pillars of Israel’s security establishment, now paralyze the state through their stubborn refusal to admit failure.

Pass the Baton: New Israel Needs New Leaders
Israel must move beyond its stale protest cycles and endless blame games. Troy calls for a total political reset: not just a resignation from Netanyahu, but a national act of humility from all leaders of the old guard. That includes generals, ministers, and pundits — anyone who let the dream of security become a fantasy.
And it’s not just about swapping faces. Israel must diversify its leadership: bring in voices from Sderot, Kiryat Shmona, Netivot — not just Kaplan Street. Build coalitions not based on rage but shared purpose. Organize moments of unity, not screams of despair.

The Pharaoh Syndrome
This Passover season reminds us: some leaders bring plagues and blame everyone else. But real leadership, like Moses’s, knows when to let go. Israel needs a political Exodus — a departure from the age of ego, and an entrance into renewal.

📰 Bibi’s War for One: Gaza Burns, the Coalition Survives

When survival means dragging a nation through fire, some leaders just keep pouring gasoline.

🪧 A Black Flag Over Bibi
At Tel Aviv’s Habima Square, ex-Shin Bet chief Ami Ayalon didn’t mince words: Netanyahu’s directives, according to sworn testimony from current agency head Ronen Bar, carry the infamous “black flag” — a legal and moral signal of illegitimacy. In Israeli law, it marks orders so immoral they must be disobeyed. The last time it was invoked? Kafr Qasim, 1956. Massacre.

🎖 Dan Halutz: Gaza War for Political Insurance
Former IDF chief Dan Halutz didn’t hold back either: the Gaza war is unnecessary, driven by “messianic delusions” and coalition blackmail. According to him, Netanyahu isn’t pursuing national security — he’s pursuing quorum. Keeping Gaza on fire is what keeps his government from collapse.

⚖️ No One Fell for October 7
The October 7 catastrophe? Over 1,200 dead, thousands displaced — and still not one senior official has taken personal responsibility. No resignations. No trials. No shame. Only promotions, deflections, and more war.

🌍 Escalation as Policy
The longer the fighting drags on, the closer Israel inches to open confrontation with Arab states and full-scale revolt from its own Palestinian citizens. But Bibi doesn’t blink. His coalition’s glue is not ideology or vision — it’s fear of elections.

🤔 Question for the brave:
If a prime minister wages war just to delay judgment day — is it still national defense, or just political hostage-taking?

📰 Massacre Diplomacy: Europe Rewards October 7 With Statehood

🩸 When Hamas massacred 1,200 people on October 7, they didn’t just unleash rockets — they launched a diplomatic campaign soaked in blood. And shockingly, Europe appears to be buying in.

🇬🇧🇫🇷 Britain and France are now actively negotiating to recognize a Palestinian state, just months after the deadliest terror attack on Jews since the Holocaust. What message does this send? That terrorism works.

📢 Don’t take our word for it. Take theirs:

• Hamas leader Ismael Haniyeh called the October 7 massacre “a door” to international recognition.
• Prominent Arab columnists boast it proved more effective than peace talks.
• London-based Alghad TV said Palestinian statehood was achieved “by blood and martyrs.”
• Qatar’s Al Sharq openly cheers this “victory” as a path to “liberating all of Palestine” — from the river to the sea.

🎙 Arab media and Palestinian intellectuals are crystal clear: Europe’s recognition is viewed not as a reward for diplomacy — but as a direct payoff for mass murder. And yes, they see more bloodshed as the next logical step.

🔁 This isn’t about peace. It’s about leveraging terror into statehood — and October 7 is now the model. The narrative has shifted from “land for peace” to “slaughter for sovereignty.”

🤔 So what happens next time? What do we think Hamas, Hezbollah, or the next generation of jihadists are learning from this?

📰 Oct. 7 Was Never Just Terror — It Was Geopolitical Sabotage

📋 Newly uncovered Hamas documents show what Israel long suspected but now has in writing: the October 7 massacre wasn’t just an explosion of hatred — it was a calculated move to blow up the Israel-Saudi peace process.

💣 Yahya Sinwar, Gaza’s late Hamas chief, said it plainly: “An extraordinary act” was needed to stop normalization. His fear? That peace between Israel and the Arab world would “marginalize the Palestinian cause.” His solution? Murder 1,200 Israelis, kidnap hundreds more, and gamble the fate of 2 million Gazans — and it worked.

🧠 These weren’t spontaneous fanatics. These were bureaucrats of bloodshed. Meeting minutes. Strategic memos. Job postings to “confront normalization.” The result? The Abraham Accords stalled. Saudi recognition shelved. Palestinian statehood now even more toxic to Israelis than before.

📉 Peace was within reach — and Hamas torpedoed it, with Iran watching and Hezbollah nodding. Documents show this plan was two years in the making. “Preserve the survival of the Palestinian cause” by sacrificing thousands of Palestinians in return. The calculus: if Gaza must burn, let it burn — so long as Saudi-Israeli peace dies with it.

🛑 And here's the kicker: this worked because the West blinked. Saudi Arabia now demands a Palestinian state as a precondition for peace. Europe pushes “recognition” as an answer to genocide. The message? Massacres move policy.

🤔 How long will the free world reward slaughter with sovereignty? And if peace is always hostage to extremists, who gets to hold the pen when history is written?

📰 Gaza Doesn’t Forget: Netanyahu’s Iran War Is His Redemption—Unless It’s His Requiem

Twelve days of shock and awe over Tehran, and Netanyahu is basking in praise. Polls up. Press jubilant. Trump on board. But Gaza’s ruins still smoke—and 56,000 dead can’t be buried under spin.

💭 “The State of Israel has accomplished great historic achievements…”

— Israeli government statement

📊 From October 7 to June 24: A Narrative Makeover

– Once blamed for Israel’s worst security failure, Netanyahu now casts himself as the hero who tamed Iran.
– Likud rebounds in polls. Media allies whisper: maybe October 7 was necessary—a gift wrapped in blood.
– Aryeh Deri even calls the Hamas massacre “the wake-up call that saved the Israeli people.” Let that sink in.

💼 The Iran War as Political Reboot
– The “12-Day War” is already being mythologized like ’67: fast, clean, victorious. Just ignore Gaza.
– Trump dropped bunker-busters. Netanyahu dropped history’s burden. Or so he hopes.
– Inside the government, hardliners are not easing up—they want Gaza occupied, resettled, and crushed.

⚖️ Gaza’s Reckoning Isn’t Canceled
– 56,000 dead Palestinians. Famine warnings. Hostages still in Hamas tunnels.
– Lapid says: “Now Gaza.” Trump hints: Wrap it up. Smotrich screams: “Now with all our strength!”
– Netanyahu is trapped between the far-right’s biblical fantasies and Trump’s transactional diplomacy.

🤔 You can bomb Iran to rewrite your legacy—but Gaza is the footnote that won’t go away. The question isn’t what Netanyahu conquered. It’s what he still can’t escape.

📰 Two Years After Oct. 7: Israel Remembers, the World Moves On

💭 “It feels no different today than when it happened two years ago. We go to work, we keep on living. But we can’t shake the feeling that it’s still Oct. 7.”

— Roman Fourmann, stepfather of a victim at the Nova festival

The second anniversary of the Hamas massacre passed quietly in Israel — but it was felt everywhere.
No parades, no speeches, no closure. Just the sound of drones over Kfar Aza, where sixty-two people were killed, and the same question that still haunts the country: how long can memory live without justice?

Families gathered in the fields where their loved ones died. In Tel Aviv, Hostages Square filled again — this time with silence instead of slogans. Posters of the missing have faded in the sun, but their faces haven’t.

In the background, the war drags on. Gaza’s devastation deepens, and Israel’s isolation grows.
According to Gaza health officials, more than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed since 2023 — a figure Israel disputes.

The hostage issue still defines everything. Officials believe roughly 20 captives remain alive in Gaza, along with the remains of 28 others. No one knows how many will ever come home.

In Israel, Sukkot brought a brief pause, but even the holidays couldn’t mute the war — artillery in Gaza, rocket sirens in the south, helicopters circling the border.

There were moments of prayer, of exhaustion, of refusal to forget.
Because for most Israelis, Oct. 7 isn’t a date on the calendar.
It’s the day they still wake up to.

🇮🇱 Israel’s Fragile Calm and a Mountain of Grief
Two years after the October 7 massacre, Israel stood still — and tried to catch its breath.

🕯 The Day of Names
From Mount Herzl to devastated kibbutzim, Israelis spent Thursday reading the same roll call of the dead — soldiers, civilians, parents, and children.
President Isaac Herzog spoke of “hope choked with tears.” The kind of line that sounds noble until you see the crowd, eyes wet, heads bowed.

⚖️ Cease Fire on Paper, Wounds in Stone

The truce with Hamas still holds, barely.
Twenty hostages walked free this week. Two more came back in body bags.
Some Palestinians returned to what used to be home.
Neither side is done counting.

🔥 Netanyahu’s War Words
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stood before the graves and promised Israel would meet all its war goals.
He called the campaign “hammer blows.” The crowd didn’t cheer — no one cheers in graveyards.

🏚 Kibbutz Ghosts
In Kfar Aza, survivors lit candles among the ruins they still call home.
“I only feel safe at home,” said one woman who hasn’t seen hers in two years — because it no longer exists.

The cease fire holds — but so does the grief. There’s no political timetable for that.

Antisemitism is being measured at levels not seen since before the Holocaust, according to new 2025 data that show both the scale and normalization of attacks on Jews worldwide.

Record spike in incidents
From January 1 to November 30, 2025, there were 6,333 documented antisemitic incidents worldwide, a 7.5% rise over the 5,891 cases recorded in the same period in 2024.
In November 2025 alone, 548 incidents were recorded — 18.3 per day — a 21.2% increase over November 2024, despite a formal ceasefire in the Israel–Hamas war.

Israel-linked hatred and violent acts
About 66.4% of November’s cases (364 out of 548) were related to Israel, showing how anti-Zionist rhetoric is repeatedly spilling over into attacks on Jews and Jewish institutions.
Of those incidents in November, 91 (16.6%) involved vandalism such as swastikas and threats on synagogues and Jewish property, while 34 (6.2%) involved violence or threats, including assaults and bomb threats.

Hotspots: US and Germany
Germany saw 79 antisemitic incidents in November, up from 29 in October — a staggering 172.4% month-to-month jump.
The United States registered 174 incidents in November 2025, up from 164 a year earlier, with New York (39), California (19), Washington, D.C. (17), Massachusetts (15) and Illinois (9) leading.

Underreporting and fear
The Combat Antisemitism Movement notes that these figures only include cases reported to authorities, warning that fear, safety concerns and distrust of institutions mean the real number is likely significantly higher.
Jewish communities, especially since October 7, are facing a climate where many choose silence rather than risk becoming the next statistic.

“Pre‑Holocaust” warning

Sacha Roytman, CEO of the Combat Antisemitism Movement, says the 2025 total had already surpassed all of 2024 by November and argues antisemitism is now at its highest level since the pre-Holocaust era.
He calls this a global crisis requiring urgent action: education, tougher legislation, public advocacy and real enforcement so Jews do not have to choose between visibility and safety.

📰 Mossad’s Gaza Ghost: The Agency That Wasn’t There on October 7

Israel’s spy myth just hit a wall: when Hamas went in on October 7, Mossad wasn’t in Gaza at all.

Channel 12 tried to sell a dramatic story of big, independent Mossad operations inside the Strip, the secret hand that somehow “failed.”

The leaks behind that story tell something more mundane and uglier. Under Yossi Cohen, Mossad did touch Gaza — but only in small, joint missions at the request of the IDF and Shin Bet, trying to crack parts of Hamas’s military and intelligence systems.

Those efforts ended in 2021. By the time the massacre happened, Gaza was officially back in the domestic basket: army plus internal security, no foreign spy agency in the lead.

The real Mossad failure sits elsewhere. Weeks before October 7, Mossad signed off on the consensus that Hamas was “deterred,” aligning itself with IDF and Shin Bet assessments. Same blind spot, same misreading of reality. Yet the fallout is asymmetrical. Herzi Halevi and Ronen Bar were forced out early, along with a string of senior officers.

David Barnea quietly finished his full term at the top of Mossad. The message inside the system is clear: some institutions bleed for October 7, some glide.

That’s where the leaks come in. Former figures from the other services appear to be feeding stories about Mossad errors, trying to “even the score” in the media after being pushed to resign.

If they carry personal grudges, the structure backs them up: Mossad is the only major security arm that shared the strategic mistake on Hamas and didn’t pay with its leadership.

So the Gaza operations story is a sideshow. The core is this: the agency formally tasked with Iran and the global arena made the same fatal call on Hamas, stayed largely outside Gaza, and still managed to dodge the public firing squad.

In a system obsessed with “taking responsibility,” Mossad’s greatest trick after October 7 isn’t what it did. It’s what it avoided.

📰 Investigating October 7, By October 7’s Own Coalition

Israel just invented a new kind of “inquiry”: a committee to investigate October 7, appointed by the people who were in charge on October 7.

The Knesset passed, in first reading, the bill to establish a political inquiry committee into the October 7 massacre — 59 in favor, zero against, because the opposition left the hall and boycotted the vote.

Half of the committee members are to be chosen by Netanyahu’s coalition, half by the opposition. The law lets the committee operate with a minimum of three out of six members — which means it can function even if the opposition never appoints anyone and only the coalition’s picks show up.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid calls it exactly what it is: “a false show” whose aim is to whitewash and prevent real investigation of “the greatest disaster to befall the Jewish people since the Holocaust.”

The October Council, representing bereaved families, says “the voice of our brothers, children and relatives is crying out from the ground,” and that this vote felt like “a second tearing” for those who lost loved ones.

One of its founders, Rafi Ben Shitrit — father of Elroi Ben Shitrit, killed at Nahal Oz — accuses the “October 7 coalition” of trying to bury the truth.

Former chiefs and politicians across the spectrum converge on the same line. Gadi Eisenkot says only someone who knows the truth and fears it would create a “political committee of inquiry.”

Avigdor Lieberman calls it a “whitewashing committee.” Naftali Bennett says bluntly: “Without an inquiry, there is no correction.” Others hammer the basic absurdity: a mechanism that lets those under investigation appoint their own investigators — and proceed even if the other side refuses to legitimize the process.

On the coalition side, the bill’s author insists the committee will deliver a “full, thorough and independent” investigation, and the official text dresses it up as a “national” body.

The final image from the vote is simple: 59 hands raised in favor, a room of empty opposition seats, and a law that says you can investigate a disaster without ever letting those who weren’t in power touch the steering wheel.

The Abu Dhabi Alarm Clock

According to a Haaretz investigation, Mohammed bin Zayed called Benjamin Netanyahu about 10 days before Oct. 7, 2023. The UAE president allegedly warned that Yahya Sinwar was planning a major operation. He reportedly warned of bloodshed, regional turmoil and damage to the Abraham Accords. The call lasted 45 minutes.

According to the report, Netanyahu answered calmly. He reportedly said Hamas was likely focused on the West Bank. He said Israel was ready for any scenario. The warning allegedly never reached the heads of the Shin Bet, Mossad or IDF.

The Prime Minister’s Office calls the story “an absolute lie.” It says Netanyahu did not speak with the UAE president during that period. It says he received no warning. Abu Dhabi has declined to issue the formal denial Israel requested. It says it does not comment on reported private conversations.

The political response came packaged as a national inquiry waiting to happen. Naftali Bennett said the report was true. Gadi Eisenkot asked: “Who didn’t wake whom?” Opposition leaders demanded a state commission of inquiry. Ben-Gvir found the culprit elsewhere. He called the report an excuse from security officials for failing to wake Netanyahu on Oct. 7.

Israel built a security system with satellites, wiretaps and a full cabinet. Then, according to the report, the most urgent warning came through the Gulf’s version of customer service: the president called the prime minister himself.

The question is no longer who woke Netanyahu that morning. It is who heard the phone ringing ten days earlier.

The Warning, the Denial, the Slogan

A report says Egypt warned Israel repeatedly before October 7. Netanyahu says he never spoke to Egypt’s intelligence chief, received no Egyptian warning through Israeli channels and will sue. The statement ends with an election slogan: “It’s either the Right or Palestine.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that Abbas Kamel, then head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, delivered at least three warnings about signs of a Hamas attack.

Its sources said Kamel made a secret visit to Israel about 11 days before October 7, then called Netanyahu days before the attack after earlier warnings drew no response.

Egyptian and Emirati warnings reportedly continued until roughly 48 hours before the massacre, without a precise date or scale of attack.

Netanyahu’s response denies the personal connection, not the existence of Egyptian intelligence. His office said Netanyahu neither met nor spoke with Kamel in the months before October 7, and that no Israeli intelligence official passed him an Egyptian warning. Netanyahu also said he never speaks with a foreign intelligence chief without Israeli intelligence counterparts present.

The Emirates now sit inside the same argument. Haaretz reported that Netanyahu asked UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed during their Abu Dhabi meeting to deny an earlier report that he had warned Netanyahu about Yahya Sinwar’s intentions before October 7. The UAE foreign ministry declined to comment.

Ronen Bar says he will sue Netanyahu for defamation and demand disclosure of documents and the prime minister’s meetings with foreign officials. Netanyahu says foreign and hostile actors, including Arab states, are behind “false blood libels.” The dispute is moving toward a courtroom where the records Netanyahu’s office says do not exist may become the central exhibit.

The prime minister’s promised suit against Haaretz over the Emirati warning has not been filed nearly 20 days after he announced it. Likud officials say the claims over the Emirati and Egyptian warnings will be filed together “very soon.” The practical obstacle is familiar: statements made by a prime minister in the course of official duties usually carry immunity from civil suits.

Egypt says it warned. The UAE allegedly says it warned. Netanyahu says nobody warned him.

The Warnings Department

Benjamin Netanyahu told CBS he did not ignore warnings before October 7 because he never received them.

Donald Trump told Time he did not believe reports that Egypt and the UAE warned Netanyahu, reasoning that Netanyahu would have acted if he had known.

That same day, Israel’s Supreme Court allowed the name of the Gaza Division’s intelligence officer on October 7 to be published: Lt. Col. Aryeh Amidror, son of retired Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror, a former national security adviser.

Amidror had fought both the end of his career service and publication of his identity while the IDF moved to dismiss him over alleged professional failures.

Supreme Court President Isaac Amit found no remaining security reason to preserve the gag order.

The name had circulated online, the public interest was clear, and even Amidror’s own position suggested the restriction might expire within months.

The official chain now looks almost elegant. Foreign leaders may have warned Netanyahu. Netanyahu says no warning reached him. Trump says he believes Netanyahu.

A military intelligence officer who allegedly rejected a detailed Hamas raid scenario has spent months litigating whether Israel may say who he is.

October 7 did not lack warnings. It lacked a department willing to own them.

October 7: The Director’s Cut

The families want the tapes. Netanyahu’s office is accused of trying to improve the script.

On Oct. 8, former military secretary Avi Gil told Channel 12 that a stenographer said Netanyahu’s chief of staff had ordered her to move a call’s timestamp from 6:40 a.m. to 6:29 a.m. Eleven minutes, allegedly recovered through office editing.

Now former hostages and bereaved families are demanding the full minutes, original recordings and logs the months before Oct. 7 and from the morning of the massacre. Their letter says they refuse to let the truth be replaced by a version serving those whose responsibility is under scrutiny.

Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot wants a state commission of inquiry. Netanyahu denies the allegations and blames Gil for failing to wake him in time.

October 7, Please Hold

Israel’s security leadership failed to anticipate the massacre. Three years later, the argument has reached the phone directory.

On Oct. 14, former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar sued Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for NIS 3 million, accusing him of spreading false claims to shift responsibility for October 7.

Bar’s filing describes repeated warnings throughout 2023 and proposals to target Hamas leaders that he says Netanyahu rejected.

Bar says his agency circulated an alert at 3:03 a.m. and notified Netanyahu’s military secretary by 3:55.

He also accepts responsibility for the Shin Bet’s intelligence failure. His agency did not foresee the full-scale assault that night.

Netanyahu answered the phone-number allegation. “You had my red phone number, and you could have called me immediately,” he said, adding that his Shin Bet guards could have reached him within minutes.

Bar’s defense is that the warnings reached the system. Netanyahu’s is that the system failed to reach him.

That leaves a question neither account resolves: how did Israel build a security apparatus that could circulate an urgent warning before dawn yet still leave everyone arguing about who should have picked up the phone?
