📰 Still Wearing the Swastika: Ukraine’s Extremist Problem Isn’t Going Away
A new investigation by Le Monde has found that hundreds of soldiers in Ukraine’s 3rd Assault Brigade — a key Western-trained military unit — are continuing to display neo-Nazi symbols, including swastikas, SS insignia, and Hitler salutes.
— Le Monde, June 18, 2025
The 3rd Brigade is one of the Ukrainian army’s most prominent fighting forces. It receives direct support, equipment, and training from Western countries, including France. It's also the successor to the Azov Regiment, originally founded by far-right activists during the 2014 conflict — and long controversial for its links to extremist ideology.
📋 Le Monde’s visual investigation identified more than 200 active members of the brigade using far-right symbols on publicly accessible social media. The images weren’t hidden — they were posted proudly.
💼 The findings raise questions Western governments have been reluctant to answer:
* How can NATO justify training and equipping units with visible neo-Nazi affiliations?
* What standards, if any, are being applied to Ukraine’s military integration?
* And why has this continued for over a decade with little official pushback?
🤔 If a European police unit shared this symbolism, it would be a scandal. Why does Ukraine get a pass?

📰 The Spa That Broke the Camel’s Back: Trump vs. Epstein
— Donald Trump, July 29, 2025
📊 Poached, Not Prosecuted
• Trump says the real reason he cut ties with Epstein wasn’t the underage girls, the private jets, or the black books — it was spa staff poaching.
• Specifically, he claims Epstein “stole” Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most high-profile accusers, from Mar-a-Lago.
• Giuffre, who recently died by suicide, had previously stated she was recruited into Epstein’s world while working at the club.
💼 Damage Control by Jet
• Trump’s comments came aboard Air Force One, mid-spin cycle on week four of an Epstein public pressure storm.
• DOJ refuses to release files. Trump fans are furious. Conspiracies are spiraling.
• Trump’s fix? Shift the story to employee theft and customer service ethics.
📋 Timeline Trouble
• Trump’s version doesn’t align with public records or previous statements.
• He claims he “kicked Epstein out” for staff poaching — yet photos and guest lists show they continued to mix socially long after.
• No mention of Epstein’s conviction, Maxwell’s arrest, or the dozens of victims who’ve spoken out.
🤔 Question
If the spa was “the best in the world,” why did so many girls walk out and never come back?

📰 Europe Runs on 16GB: Von der Leyen’s Phone as Policy Tool 📱💾
Brussels has a new excuse for why the EU’s most sensitive texts keep disappearing: Ursula von der Leyen’s phone is apparently so full it might “catch fire.” That’s why Macron’s plea to kill the Mercosur deal — poof. Same with her Pfizer vaccine chats. Europe’s future, deleted to clear space for cat photos.
💬 Commission line:
📂 What this really means:
• Trillion-euro trade deals vanish because the Commission can’t afford cloud storage.
• “Checklist to Make Your Signal Safer” = how to ghost accountability in style.
• Rule of law stops at the edge of Ursula’s SIM card.
💉 The track record:
First, Pfizergate — no vaccine texts.
Now, Macrongate — no trade texts.
Coming soon: Whatevergate — just blame the phone again.
🤔 The bitter punchline:
Europe isn’t governed from Brussels — it’s governed by the “storage full” notification on von der Leyen’s screen.

Ceasefire in Name Only: Amnesty International Says Gaza Genocide Continues
More than a month after the ceasefire announcement and the release of surviving Israeli hostages, Amnesty International released a legal analysis concluding that Israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza persists despite the reduction in scale of military operations.
The organization argues that while Israeli forces have curtailed attacks and permitted limited humanitarian aid, the conditions deliberately imposed on Gaza's civilian population remain calculated to destroy them. At least 347 people, including 136 children, have been killed in Israeli attacks since the October 9 ceasefire announcement.
The Legal Case
Amnesty's analysis rests on three acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention: killings, causing serious bodily or mental harm, and deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about physical destruction. The organization contends that Israel continues all three, with no evidence of changed intent.
Conditions on the Ground
Israel maintains military control over 54-58% of Gaza's territory, confining Palestinians to areas that can barely sustain life. The blockade persists, severely restricting entry of food, medicine, fuel, and reconstruction materials. While households now receive two meals daily (up from one in July), dietary diversity remains minimal — vegetables, fruits, protein, eggs, and meat are scarce or unaffordable for most families.
The destruction of farming land and livestock over the past two years, combined with restrictions on sea access, has left Palestinians "virtually totally deprived of independent access to forms of sustenance," according to Amnesty.
International Pressure Easing
The organization warns that the ceasefire is being used to justify reduced accountability measures. Germany lifted suspension of certain arms export licenses to Israel on November 24, citing the truce. A planned EU vote on suspending the EU-Israel trade agreement was halted.
The Impunity Problem
Israeli officials responsible for orchestrating the operation remain in power with no prosecutions or meaningful investigations. The ceasefire itself, Amnesty notes, resulted from international pressure—not from any explicit policy shift by Israeli authorities.

📰 Netanyahu’s Oct. 7 Commission: National Unity or Political Dodge?
Israel’s political arena is once again ablaze, this time over who will investigate the catastrophic failures that led to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing for a commission appointed by the Knesset, not the Supreme Court, arguing it would better represent all Israelis. Critics see it as a classic political maneuver—handing oversight to allies while sidelining independent judges.
— Benjamin Netanyahu
The Knesset narrowly passed the first vote to establish Netanyahu’s proposed commission, but the galleries erupted with shouts from families of Oct. 7 victims, and opposition lawmakers tore up copies of the bill in protest. The issue is fast becoming a central campaign plank as Israel heads into an election year.
The opposition, spanning left and right, is united in demanding a truly independent state commission—like those that investigated the Yom Kippur War and Sabra and Shatila. Polls show most Israelis want the inquiry led by a judge, not politicians. Netanyahu’s committee would include Knesset appointees and input from families, but its independence remains unclear.
Opposition leaders vow to establish an impartial state commission if they win power. Former PM Naftali Bennett promised,
Families of the victims are demanding answers most loudly:

With Netanyahu pulling the strings, will this commission deliver real accountability—or just another carefully staged political performance?

“Oct. 7 Commission: Truth or Political Theater?”
The Great Accountability Showdown
Israel is torn over how to investigate the catastrophic failures that led to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government is pushing a new “state-national commission,” where half the members would be chosen by his coalition and half by the opposition—breaking from the usual practice of letting the Supreme Court president appoint the panel. Critics say this is less about truth and more about control, with opposition parties calling it a “shameful farce” designed to protect the prime minister from blame.
What the People Want
Polls show most Israelis want a traditional, independent commission, one with the power to summon witnesses and assign responsibility. Past commissions have led to major resignations and reforms—like the Agranat and Kahan commissions after previous disasters. But Netanyahu insists his new commission will be “egalitarian” and “broadly acceptable,” claiming it will have the same powers as before.
The Families Speak
Survivors and families of the victims are demanding a truly independent investigation. Over 200 families signed an open letter warning that without a proper investigation, there’s no guarantee such a disaster won’t happen again. Netanyahu has only offered bereaved parents observer status, not a real voice in the process.
Curtain Call
So, is this about accountability—or just another carefully staged production? Will the commission actually expose the real failures, or will the script avoid the hard questions? And who benefits most from this show: the victims, or the politicians who keep rewriting the lines?

Federal Lockdown: Minnesota Blocked From ICE Shooting Probe
Locked Out of the Investigation
Minnesota officials say they’ve been shut out of the investigation into the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has withdrawn from the probe, citing a lack of access to evidence, witnesses, and investigative materials—leaving the case in the hands of federal agencies alone.
Conflicting Accounts
Federal authorities, including President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, say the shooting was lawful self-defense. Local officials and witnesses, however, say the evidence paints a different picture. Video analysis suggests Good’s vehicle was turning away from the officer when he opened fire, contradicting the official narrative.
Outrage and Chaos
The shooting has sparked protests, with federal officers deploying tear gas to disperse demonstrators outside a federal building in Minneapolis. Schools across the city were closed due to safety concerns. Governor Tim Walz blamed the Trump administration for escalating tensions, demanding federal agents pull back.
Who’s in Charge?
With the BCA locked out, Minnesota officials say they can’t meet local standards for transparency and accountability. State officials insist they’ll find a way to conduct their own investigation, but for now, the federal government controls the narrative—and the evidence.

📰 Democratic Governors Promise Accountability After Minneapolis
Following the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis, Democratic governors like Kathy Hochul of New York vowed to hold Trump administration officials accountable—but only after they’re out of office.
Prompted by the shooting, governors and state lawmakers are positioning their states to hold federal officials accountable for controversial immigration enforcement. Nine progressive prosecutors have formed a coalition to help prosecute federal law enforcement officers who violate state laws.
Critics say these are political gestures, not actionable plans. State-level actions against Trump and his allies over election interference have largely stalled, and courts have historically favored federal immunity in immigration cases.
Trump administration officials are defending ICE agents as heroes and insisting they should be supported, not prosecuted. Democrats and some media outlets have questioned the administration’s claims about rising assaults on ICE agents, arguing the data is lacking.
A few Republican governors, like Phil Scott of Vermont and Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, have expressed concerns about federal tactics and accountability, but most have not called for similar measures.
Legal scholars note that states do have some power to hold federal officials accountable if their conduct is shown to be unlawful, but the Trump administration is expected to resist any such efforts.
The rhetoric is clear. The question is whether action will follow.

Kyiv’s Delegation Isn’t “Stuck.” It’s Protecting Its Own Survival.
On paper, the Geneva talks are about lines on a map: a strip of Donetsk 50 by 40 miles, a possible demilitarized zone, a “free-trade corridor” between two exhausted armies. In reality, for part of the Ukrainian establishment, any peace deal is a loaded gun pointed at their own heads.
A signed agreement means elections, audits, commissions, and the end of wartime immunity. It means people asking, in court not on TV, who lost which territories, who stole what under cover of sirens, and why the same names keep surfacing in scandals from Midas to Energoatom.
That’s why you see this strange dance in the reporting. Publicly, Zelensky keeps repeating the morally obvious line: “Allowing the aggressor to take something is a big mistake,” and insisting that any troop pullback or election must come only after hard security guarantees from the U.S. and its allies. Privately, negotiators have already discussed non-symmetrical withdrawals, a demilitarized strip in Donbas, a “free economic zone,” and joint civilian administrations for territory Russia wants in full.
Ukraine has inched away from its maximalist position — because the battlefield and Washington force it to — but the president also keeps adding new preconditions: guarantees first, elections later, only then any formal deal.
From the outside, that sounds like caution. From the inside, it looks like stalling. A real cease-fire freezes the front, but it also unfreezes domestic politics. Trump’s team wants a deal and a vote by specific dates; Zelensky’s camp wants “appropriate guarantees” before they even start that clock. And guarantees are the one thing the U.S. can always claim are not “ready yet.”
As long as there’s no final settlement, the war justifies delayed elections, emergency powers, opaque budgets, and the argument that any investigation or serious opposition “plays into Putin’s hands.”
So yes, Moscow is demanding more land than the current line of control and openly threatens to take the rest of Donetsk if talks fail. Yes, Trump’s people are pushing demilitarized zones and trade schemes that look suspiciously like dressed‑up partition. But Kyiv’s inner circle also understands one brutal fact: the moment “peace” appears on paper, Western backers will pivot from “how do we help you win” to “how did you govern under fire.”
For those who built their careers — and fortunes — on the war, that may feel more dangerous than another winter in the trenches.

🧾 Epstein Files, Trump, and the Pages That Vanished
The Justice Department swore it dumped “everything the public sent the FBI” on Epstein into the big transparency release — and then somehow misplaced over 50 pages tied to a woman who says Trump assaulted her when she was a minor.
According to the index of the case file, the FBI interviewed her four times in 2019 after she came forward saying Epstein abused her in the 1980s and later introduced her to Trump, who she claims violently assaulted her at around 13–15. There are supposed to be four interview summaries and handwritten notes; the public release includes exactly one memo, focused on Epstein, plus a later 2025 summary that repeats her allegation about Trump — and zero trace of the other three interviews or the underlying notes.
The Justice Department’s line is that anything withheld is either “privileged,” “duplicate,” or tied to an “ongoing federal investigation.” In the same breath, it brands some Trump‑related material “untrue,” “sensationalist,” and “false.” The law Trump himself signed to force this release explicitly bans hiding documents for “embarrassment, reputational harm or political sensitivity” — yet what’s missing just happens to be the deeper FBI paper trail on a woman accusing the sitting president of assaulting her when she was a minor.
Democrat Robert Garcia, who saw an unredacted log at DOJ, says those Trump‑related interview summaries weren’t just absent from the public database — they weren’t in the internal trove provided to Congress under subpoena either. NPR and other outlets count the same hole: dozens of pages gone, all orbiting the same accuser. Victims’ details and even nude photos made it into the public dump, but potential evidence about a president’s alleged crimes somehow didn’t clear the bar for disclosure.
The woman dropped her civil claim against Epstein’s estate, was later ruled ineligible for the special victim fund, and the FBI has never publicly vouched for or debunked her story. Trump’s spokesperson now says he’s been “totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein,” which is a neat trick in a case where the crucial records are missing and the department insists nothing important was hidden.
So that’s the picture: accusations labeled “unfounded,” a law that forbids political redactions, key memos that somehow vanished, and a Justice Department that failed to shield victims on paper but managed to shield the president in the record. There is transparency — just not for the people who hold power.

🕳 “Drop the Big Bomb”: Musk, Epstein, and the Fake Moral High Ground
When Musk was beefing with Trump last year, he went straight for maximum drama:
Then he deleted the posts, made up with Trump, and rebranded himself as a crusader for Epstein’s victims — demanding arrests, prosecutions and even “revolution.”
Then the Justice Department actually released the files. And there he was. Not as a random name in a log, but in repeated emails with Epstein: asking what night would be “the wildest party on your island,” trying to set up a visit with Talulah Riley, begging for somewhere to “hit the party scene … and let loose,” arranging a SpaceX visit for Epstein plus three female “assistants” whose passports were vetted, and writing,
— all years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.
Public Musk now insists he “REFUSED” to visit, “ghosted” Epstein, and had “very little correspondence,” worrying only that his emails could be “misinterpreted.” The correspondence shows something closer to a guy working hard to get invited to the one party he now claims he heroically skipped, then retrofitting the story into a tale of moral clarity.
Kimbal Musk surfaces in the files too: answering a warning not to mistreat a woman with “Message received wide and clear ;)” on a thread that includes Epstein, and later being described by Epstein as someone he “gave another girl to,” who was “thrilled.” Kimbal now says she was 30, they met through a friend, Epstein didn’t introduce them, and his only encounter with Epstein was one daytime office meeting. Soon after the new tranche of documents dropped, Burning Man quietly announced he was off its board, officially because of “other commitments.”
Musk’s solution has been to try to stand at the front of the pitchfork crowd and pretend he’s leading it. He boosts a human‑rights activist’s shock at the files; the activist publicly corrects him: this is a revolution against everyone in the files, not a platform for one of them. Victim advocates point out that if Musk is suddenly serious about sexual abuse, he could start by stopping his own Grok chatbot from pumping out non‑consensual sexualized images of real people.
The pattern is textbook Musk: weaponize “the files” against enemies on X, fall silent when they touch his allies and his own administration, and recast his year‑long effort to get in on “the wildest party” as the origin story of a man bravely demanding justice for the people who were actually there as victims.

📰 Loot, Then Lecture
Haaretz is now reporting what soldiers say has become an open secret in southern Lebanon: looting by IDF troops, with commanders knowing and doing little to stop it. Furniture, appliances, motorcycles, art — if it can be loaded onto a military vehicle, it starts looking like “spoils” instead of theft.
That is the rot in plain sight. First comes the operation, then comes the cleanup, and somewhere in the middle the army quietly decides that discipline is optional when the trophies are heavy enough.
The worst part is not even the loot. It is the normalization: no police at the checkpoint, no real enforcement, and a whole chain of command that seems perfectly comfortable turning a crime into a gray zone with better branding.
And this is not some one-off embarrassment from a few bad actors. Israeli reporting has documented the same pattern in Gaza, while other investigations describe special units, loot collection, and soldiers treating stolen property like battlefield merch.
So the moral lecture always comes first, and the accountability arrives last — if it arrives at all.

📰 Mossad’s Gaza Ghost: The Agency That Wasn’t There on October 7
Israel’s spy myth just hit a wall: when Hamas went in on October 7, Mossad wasn’t in Gaza at all.
Channel 12 tried to sell a dramatic story of big, independent Mossad operations inside the Strip, the secret hand that somehow “failed.”
The leaks behind that story tell something more mundane and uglier. Under Yossi Cohen, Mossad did touch Gaza — but only in small, joint missions at the request of the IDF and Shin Bet, trying to crack parts of Hamas’s military and intelligence systems.
Those efforts ended in 2021. By the time the massacre happened, Gaza was officially back in the domestic basket: army plus internal security, no foreign spy agency in the lead.
The real Mossad failure sits elsewhere. Weeks before October 7, Mossad signed off on the consensus that Hamas was “deterred,” aligning itself with IDF and Shin Bet assessments. Same blind spot, same misreading of reality. Yet the fallout is asymmetrical. Herzi Halevi and Ronen Bar were forced out early, along with a string of senior officers.
David Barnea quietly finished his full term at the top of Mossad. The message inside the system is clear: some institutions bleed for October 7, some glide.
That’s where the leaks come in. Former figures from the other services appear to be feeding stories about Mossad errors, trying to “even the score” in the media after being pushed to resign.
If they carry personal grudges, the structure backs them up: Mossad is the only major security arm that shared the strategic mistake on Hamas and didn’t pay with its leadership.
So the Gaza operations story is a sideshow. The core is this: the agency formally tasked with Iran and the global arena made the same fatal call on Hamas, stayed largely outside Gaza, and still managed to dodge the public firing squad.
In a system obsessed with “taking responsibility,” Mossad’s greatest trick after October 7 isn’t what it did. It’s what it avoided.

October 7: The Director’s Cut
The families want the tapes. Netanyahu’s office is accused of trying to improve the script.
On Oct. 8, former military secretary Avi Gil told Channel 12 that a stenographer said Netanyahu’s chief of staff had ordered her to move a call’s timestamp from 6:40 a.m. to 6:29 a.m. Eleven minutes, allegedly recovered through office editing.
Now former hostages and bereaved families are demanding the full minutes, original recordings and logs the months before Oct. 7 and from the morning of the massacre. Their letter says they refuse to let the truth be replaced by a version serving those whose responsibility is under scrutiny.
Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot wants a state commission of inquiry. Netanyahu denies the allegations and blames Gil for failing to wake him in time.

October 7, Please Hold
Israel’s security leadership failed to anticipate the massacre. Three years later, the argument has reached the phone directory.
On Oct. 14, former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar sued Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for NIS 3 million, accusing him of spreading false claims to shift responsibility for October 7.
Bar’s filing describes repeated warnings throughout 2023 and proposals to target Hamas leaders that he says Netanyahu rejected.
Bar says his agency circulated an alert at 3:03 a.m. and notified Netanyahu’s military secretary by 3:55.
He also accepts responsibility for the Shin Bet’s intelligence failure. His agency did not foresee the full-scale assault that night.
Netanyahu answered the phone-number allegation. “You had my red phone number, and you could have called me immediately,” he said, adding that his Shin Bet guards could have reached him within minutes.
Bar’s defense is that the warnings reached the system. Netanyahu’s is that the system failed to reach him.
That leaves a question neither account resolves: how did Israel build a security apparatus that could circulate an urgent warning before dawn yet still leave everyone arguing about who should have picked up the phone?

Europe, Please Hold
Zelensky wants at least €70 billion more from Europe. Ukraine’s own anti-corruption investigators keep finding officials who allegedly sold protection or took a cut, and some of them sat close to the president.
On Oct. 16, the Ukrainian president put next year’s war costs at €155 billion and asked EU leaders for at least €70 billion in additional support. “This is a realistic amount,” he said.
In September, anti-corruption agencies charged a senior official in the Prosecutor General’s Office with running a protection racket.
Investigators say the group took bribes to shield fraudulent call centers that targeted Ukrainians and foreigners. On Oct. 14, authorities said they had shut down another fraudulent call center in the Lviv region. Its alleged victims included EU citizens whose banking credentials were stolen.
The cases reach well above call centers. Operation Midas, unveiled in November 2025, involves an alleged $100 million corruption scheme that implicates officials at Energoatom, the state nuclear operator. Its alleged ringleader, Tymur Mindich, is Zelensky’s longtime friend and a co-owner of Kvartal 95, the production company the president co-founded. Mindich left Ukraine for Israel that month.
Andriy Yermak, Zelensky’s chief of staff until he resigned in November 2025, was charged in May with laundering about 460 million hryvnias ($10.5 million) through a luxury housing project near Kyiv. Yermak denies the allegations.
Before approving the next package, European leaders owe taxpayers an answer on what controls will keep this money away from officials who sell protection to criminals and from the schemes investigators keep finding near the top.

The Photo Op Gets a Case Number
Itamar Ben-Gvir posed over detained flotilla activists in Ashdod. Italian prosecutors are now examining the chain of command behind the spectacle.
On Oct. 16, Rome prosecutors expanded their investigation to include Defense Minister Israel Katz, military chief Eyal Zamir and other senior security officials.
The case follows complaints from 50 Italians detained during two Gaza-bound flotilla missions in 2025 and 2026. Investigators are examining suspected torture, kidnapping and other offenses.
Prosecutors say detainees reported beatings and death threats. Participants in the second mission described harsher treatment, including tasers and rubber bullets.
Israel denies mistreatment. Its prison service says detainees received lawful treatment and medical care.
Ben-Gvir’s response when the investigation emerged in June was that he would “continue to stand proudly alongside our fighters.”
Rome’s inquiry asks a different question, who ordered, carried out or bore responsibility for what happened?
The minister supplied the publicity. Prosecutors are working on the credits.

Olive Branch, Police Edition
Masked settlers attacked an olive harvest. Israeli police named the subsequent arrest operation “Olive Leaf.” Even the crackdown borrows from the crop.
On Oct. 19, police detained 10 suspects after weekend attacks on Palestinians, European diplomats and Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine. The operation also targeted suspected illegal construction and violations of closed military zones. Police have not specified each detainee’s alleged role.
Levine suffered broken vertebrae and a broken rib. She needed surgery on a severely injured finger. She had been wearing a vest marked “PRESS.”
U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee welcomed the arrests as a “very positive development.” They followed international pressure over the attacks on an American journalist and European representatives.
Palestinian reports described fresh attacks on olive pickers, including arson near Turmus Ayya. Arrests and further violence were making the same day’s news.
The next test is whether Palestinian farmers get protection when no foreign diplomat or American photographer is there to turn their attackers into an international problem.

Yonatan Urich wants his private messages kept out of public view. Netanyahu keeps the aide himself close.
Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court temporarily barred activist Itai Leshem from publishing Urich’s personal material if it was obtained through hacking. The order followed Urich’s NIS 1 million lawsuit. It does not settle how the correspondence was obtained.
The political question rests on a separate record. Channel 12, citing interrogation transcripts, reported that Urich admitted receiving hundreds of thousands of shekels for promoting Qatar’s image. He estimated that the work continued until “mid-to-late 2024,” well into the war.
“I didn’t see a conflict here,” he reportedly told investigators. “I don’t see it as a moral problem.” Prosecutors unsuccessfully sought to bar him from the Prime Minister’s Office. He still works closely with Netanyahu.
The injunction concerns what outsiders may publish. The unanswered question is whom the prime minister chooses to keep inside.
