💢 The Status of Hazrat Abbas in the Words of Imam Sajjad (AS)

🔹 Imam Zain-ul-Abidin, also known as Imam Sajjad (AS), expressed, "May God have mercy on Hazrat Abbas! Truly, he preferred Imam Hussein over himself, sacrificing his own life for that noble Imam until his blessed hands were severed."

🔹 In return for Abbas's hands, the Merciful God granted him two wings, allowing him to soar in Paradise alongside the angels. This divine blessing was also bestowed upon Ja'far ibn Abi Talib. Abbas holds a status with the Lord that all martyrs will envy on the Day of Judgment.

Quranic Verses & Hadiths About Hazrat Abbas (AS)

Although Hazrat Abal-Fadl Al-Abbas (AS) is not explicitly mentioned by name in the Quran, many verses reflect his noble characteristics, such as loyalty, bravery, and self-sacrifice. Islamic scholars often associate certain Quranic verses with his virtues, considering him among the true believers and righteous ones.

Quranic Verses Reflecting the Virtues of Hazrat Abbas (AS):

"Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah; some of them have fulfilled their pledge [with their lives], and others are waiting [to do so], and they have not changed in the least."
(Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:23)

Many scholars relate this verse to the companions of Imam Hussain (AS), including Hazrat Abbas (AS), who remained steadfast in their promise and sacrificed their lives for the cause of Islam.

On the battlefield of Karbala, Imam Hussain (AS) said about his brother:
"May Allah reward you, O my brother, for you have sacrificed yourself for me."

Imam Zainul Abideen (AS) on Abbas (AS):

Imam Sajjad (AS) praised his uncle’s sacrifice, saying:
"May Allah have mercy on my uncle Abbas. He preferred his brother over himself and sacrificed his life for him until his arms were cut off. Allah replaced his arms with two wings with which he flies in Paradise, just as He granted Ja’far ibn Abi Talib."

✨ A Prayer of Gratitude

That night on Ashura, I wasn’t feeling well. Close to the Fajr adhan, I got up and prayed two rak'ahs. Then I whispered:

"O Allah, thank You. You gave him to me for 28 years. He was supposed to leave back then… but… thank You."

Over twenty years ago, during a majlis at my father’s house on Tasu’a, when the motorcycle hit Mostafa, I made a vow. I said:

"O Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (as), protect Mostafa yourself. I dedicate him as a soldier under your banner."

I promised to raise a devoted soldier for the flag-bearer of Karbala—and indeed, he became one. A soldier who, fittingly, was martyred on Tasu’a and joined the ranks of Hazrat Abbas (as).
