Explaining Surah An-Nabaʼ (The Tidings) from Juz’ 30 of the Holy Qur'an – A Wilāyah & Mahdawī Perspective #Wilayah #Mahdawiya #SurahNaba #Quran30thJuz #ImamMahdi #AhlulBayt #ShiaBeliefs 1. Title: A Wilāyah-Focused Beginning to the Tafsir of Surah An-Nabaʼ…
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

1. Verse 1 of Surah An-Naba’
Verse:
عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ
Translation:
About what are they asking one another?

Brief Tafsir (Commentary):
This verse opens with a tone of inquiry and wonder, as if expressing amazement at the subject of discussion and dispute among the people. It sets the stage for the mention of the “Great News” (an-Naba' al-‘Azeem)—a tremendous and destiny-defining matter that has captured the attention of minds.

Wilayah Perspective:
According to the narrations of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), this “News” is none other than the Wilayah (Divinely-appointed authority) of Amir al-Mu'minin, Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him)—the very truth over which people have differed. This question marks not only the start of a Surah, but also the beginning of the journey to discern truth from falsehood.

Mahdavi Perspective:
This line of Wilayah continues through the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), culminating in the awaited savior, Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance). In reality, humanity is still engaged in questioning the same “Great News”: Is there truly an Imam who will fill the earth with justice? This question continues to echo across time…

2. Verse 2 of Surah An-Naba’
Verse:
عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ
Translation:
Concerning the Great News.

Brief Tafsir (Commentary):
The phrase "an-Naba' al-‘Azeem"—“the Great News”—refers to a matter of immense significance, far beyond ordinary events. According to Shi‘a scholars and the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), this is not just any news; it points to a cosmic truth that lies at the heart of creation and divine order.

Wilayah Perspective:
Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) states that the Great News is none other than Amir al-Mu'minin, Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him). His divinely-appointed authority (Wilayah) has remained the central, and often disputed, axis of truth in Islam since the time of the Prophet.

Mahdavi Perspective:
This Great News continues through the pure lineage of Ali (peace be upon him), culminating in the awaited savior, Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance). He is the bearer of that same divine authority, and his advent will be the full manifestation of this Great News. His appearance will unveil the very essence of what this verse alludes to.

5. Verse 5 of Surah An-Naba’ Verse: ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ Translation: Again, no! Soon they will know. Brief Tafsir (Commentary): This repetition further emphasizes the fulfillment of Allah's promise that the truth will soon be made clear to the deniers.…
6. Verse 6 of Surah An-Naba’
Verse:
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا
Translation:
Have We not made the earth a cradle [of rest]?

Brief Tafsir (Commentary):
This verse highlights God's power in creating the earth as a stable and comfortable foundation for human life. The earth is designed to be a peaceful and nurturing environment, fit for the growth and sustenance of all living beings. It serves as a reminder for humankind to recognize God's blessings and strive in accordance with His divine goals.

Wilayah Perspective:
Though implicit, this verse also hints at divine authority and governance. Just as the earth is made to provide calm and order, human society must also be guided under the leadership of God's representative on earth—the divinely appointed guardian (Wali). Peace and harmony on earth are sustained through this divinely sanctioned leadership.

Mahdavi Perspective:
From a Mahdavi viewpoint, this verse alludes to the time of the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance). When he returns, the earth will truly become a place of peace and justice. Under his divinely guided leadership, the world will be transformed into a realm of tranquility and universal prosperity.

7. Verse 7 of Surah An-Naba’
Verse:
وَجَعَلْنَا الْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
Translation:
And We placed the mountains as pegs.

Brief Tafsir (Commentary):
This verse emphasizes God's power in designing the earth's stability. Mountains are likened to pegs or stakes driven into the ground, preventing the earth from shifting uncontrollably. They play a critical role in maintaining geological balance and keeping the earth stable.

Wilayah Perspective:
Mountains here symbolize the firmness and strength of Wilayah (divinely appointed guardianship). Just as mountains stabilize the earth, the presence of the Wali al-Faqih and Islamic governance ensures the stability and security of society—spiritually, politically, and socially. Without them, societal collapse is a real danger.

Mahdavi Perspective:
In the era of Imam al-Mahdi’s (may Allah hasten his reappearance) rule, the world will be as stable and unshakable as a mountain-rooted land. Justice and peace in his time will anchor the human race just as mountains anchor the earth. Under his leadership, no corruption or instability will survive.

8. Verse 8 of Surah An-Naba: Verse: وَ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا Translation: And We created you in pairs. Short Tafsir: This verse refers to one of God's great blessings: the creation of human beings in pairs. Pairing is not only the means for the continuation…
9. Verse 9, Surah An-Naba’:
Ayah:
وَ جَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
Wa jaʿalnā nawmakum subātā
Translation:
And We made your sleep [a means for] rest.

Brief Tafsir:
Sleep is one of God's vital blessings, designed to restore the body and soul. The word "subāt" implies a halt in activity and a kind of “shut-down,” making sleep a divine pause to silence daily distractions and renew life’s energy.

Wilāyah Perspective:
From the viewpoint of Wilāyah (Divine Guardianship), sleep can symbolize a brief halt in a believer’s spiritual journey—meant to recharge them with fresh strength to walk the path of servitude and loyalty. Just as sleep is a temporary pause, the occultation (ghaybah) of the Divine Leader is a pause in visible presence, not in divine guidance.

Mahdawī Perspective:
Like sleep, the occultation of Imam Mahdi (aj) might appear silent and still, yet it is inwardly a source of spiritual renewal. His absence is not neglect or ineffectiveness—it is a divinely appointed phase that prepares the hearts of believers for his awaited reappearance.

✨The Spiritual Merits of Surah An-Nāzi‘āt (Juz’ 30)✨ 1. Peace & Fulfillment in This World and the Hereafter 📖 Imam al-Sadiq (a): "Whoever recites Surah al-Nāzi‘āt will not die except quenched, and will be resurrected quenched." 🔗 Tafsīr Ahl al-Bayt, Thawāb…
🌍 The Earth-Shaking Truth: A Mahdavi & Wilā’i Reflection on Surah An-Nāzi‘āt (Verses 6–7)

Verse 6
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ
“On the Day when the Quaking One quakes.”

Verse 7
تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ
“Followed by the Subsequent One.”

Linguistic Insight:

Rājifah (الرَّاجِفَةُ): From rajf, meaning a violent, fearsome quake—interpreted as the great quake of Qiyāmah or a cosmic upheaval.

Rādifah (الرَّادِفَةُ): Something that follows; here it denotes a successive cataclysm or event tied to the first.

Wilā’i & Mahdavi Narrations:

1. Imam al-Sadiq (a): The Beginning of Raj‘ah with Imam Husayn & Amir al-Mu’minīn (a)

"The Rājifah is Ḥusayn ibn ‘Alī (a), and the Rādifah is ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (a). The first to return in the Raj‘ah will be Ḥusayn (a), along with 75,000 companions..."
This return is on the day when Allah fulfills His promise of support to the believers.
📚 Tafsīr Ahl al-Bayt 17:342, Bihār al-Anwār 53:106, Al-Burhān 5:489, Ta’wīl al-Āyāt, Farāt al-Kūfī, Al-Faḍā’il

2. Imam al-Riḍā (a): Earthquake and Emergence of the Beast (Dābbah)

"The Rādifah is the Earthquake, and the emergence of the Dābbah will follow."
📚 Tafsīr Ahl al-Bayt, Manāqib, Al-Burhān

3. Imam al-Sadiq (a) again on Rādifah:

"The Rādifah is ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (a)."
This indicates the central role of Wilāyah in eschatological events.

Mahdavi-Wilā’i Perspective:
These verses are seen by the Ahl al-Bayt (a) as reflecting the Raj‘ah—the return of divine leaders before Qiyāmah.

The Rājifah symbolizes the uprising of Imām Ḥusayn (a), shaking the world order.

The Rādifah represents the divinely-guided appearance of Imām ‘Alī (a) or the Dābbah, fulfilling Allah’s promise of support to the believers:

“Indeed, We will surely help Our messengers and those who believe, in the worldly life and on the Day when the witnesses will stand.”
[Sūrah Ghāfir 40:51]

This reaffirms the final victory of Truth during Raj‘ah and paves the way for the global rise of Imām Mahdī (may Allah hasten his reappearance).

A Beneficial or Detrimental Return? A Qur'anic and Narrational Explanation of Verse 12 of Surah An-Nazi'at 🔍📖

In verse 12 of Surah An-Nazi'at, it is stated:
﴿قالُوا تِلْكَ إِذاً كَرَّةٌ خاسِرَةٌ﴾
“They say: If there is a return, it will be a losing return.” 😏💬

This verse reflects the mockery of those who deny the resurrection, considering a return to life after death as a great loss. ❌💀
But the narrations of the Ahlul-Bayt (peace be upon them) 🕊️ reveal a deeper truth, interpreting “karrah khasirah” in the context of Raj'ah—the return of certain souls to this world before the Day of Judgment.

Raj'ah and the Concept of "KARRAH KHASIRAH" 🔄🧭

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:

"The interpretation of this verse reached the Prophet (PBUH) 25 nights before its revelation. It refers to those who return to avenge the spilled blood of the innocent. This return will be a losing one for the disbelievers and oppressors." 😠⚖️
(Tafseer Ahlul-Bayt, Vol. 17, p. 344)

He further explained verse ﴿فَإِنَّما هِیَ زَجْرَةٌ واحِدَةٌ﴾ (An-Nazi'at: 13):
"Once justice is served, the souls of the remaining tyrants will remain awake—neither dying nor sleeping." 😱🌙⏳

Two Types of Return: One Blessed, the Other Detrimental 🌟 vs 🔥

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also said:
"The blessed and beneficial return is through my guardianship and following the commands of Ali (a.s.) and his successors. This leads to Paradise." 🌿🕌
"But the losing return is enmity toward me and Ali and abandoning our path. That leads to Hell." 🚫❤️🔥
(Ta’wil al-Ayat al-Zahirah, p. 738)

Wilayah & Mahdawi Reflection 🛡️🕊️

From a Wilayah perspective, “karrah khasirah” is not just a futile return but a symbol of true loss for the enemies of Ahlul-Bayt. 😔
This reality will become clear during Raj'ah and the final Reappearance of Imam Mahdi (AJ), when truth and falsehood will be separated. ⚔️
The lovers of Ahlul-Bayt will return gloriously and triumphantly ✨✅,
while their enemies will face the painful KARRAH KHASIRAH. ❌🔥

The Divine Covenant Betrayed: A Wilāyah and Mahdawī Analysis of Qur’an 3:187

🔸 Qur’anic Verse (Surah Āl ‘Imrān, 3:187):
"And [mention] when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, [saying], 'You must make it clear to the people and not conceal it.' But they threw it away behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price. Wretched is that which they purchased."

🔹 Exegetical Reflection:

This verse refers to the divine covenant taken from the People of the Book—especially their scholars and religious authorities—to convey divine truths clearly, including the signs of the Final Prophet (PBUH) and his rightful successors. However, for worldly gain and out of envy or fear, they chose concealment over truth, betraying their sacred trust.

🔸 Narrative Insights (Riwayāt):

1. Imam al-Sādiq (a):
The "Book" mentioned here refers to the Infallible Imam. Whoever turns away from the Imam is included in the condemnation: "But they threw it behind their backs." Denying the Imam leads to misguidance and hell.
📚 Tafsīr Ahl al-Bayt, vol. 2, p. 872 / Bihār al-Anwār, vol. 8, p. 11

2. Imam ‘Alī (a):
He emphasized how after the Prophet's death, polytheists and hypocrites rejected the complete Qur'an—its outward and inward meanings—because it affirmed the names and rights of the Ahl al-Ḥaqq. They said, “We have no need for this Qur’an,” and concealed its truths, especially the Wilāyah of ‘Alī (a).
📚 Bihār, vol. 90, p. 126 / Iḥtijāj, vol. 1

3. Imam al-Riḍā (a):
In refuting the claim that leadership can be selected by people, he stressed that Imāmah is solely appointed by God, with qualities exclusive to the infallible Imam. Disregarding such an Imam is tantamount to discarding the Book of Allah.
📚 Iḥtijāj, vol. 2, p. 436

🔹 Wilāyah Perspective:

This verse highlights one of the gravest religious betrayals in history: the concealment of divine authority (Wilāyah). The People of the Book knowingly hid the truths regarding the Prophet (PBUH) and his successors. A parallel can be drawn within the Islamic Ummah itself, where after the Prophet, some groups denied the explicit designation of Imam ‘Alī (a), violating the divine covenant and casting the truth aside.

🔸 Mahdawī Outlook:

In the End Times, corrupt scholars and hadith fabricators distort or conceal knowledge about Imam al-Mahdī (aj), preventing people from true guidance. The modern form of "they threw it behind their backs" is reflected in the negligence or manipulation of Mahdawī teachings and the distortion of the concept of awaiting (Intiẓār). Imam al-Mahdī (aj) is the living, speaking "Book of God" who must be clarified to the people. Concealing his reality is a betrayal of divine truth.

🟣 Conclusion:

This verse underscores the heavy responsibility to proclaim divine truth and uphold Wilāyah—not to conceal it for worldly interests. Whether it concerns Imam ‘Alī (a) or Imam al-Mahdī (aj), hiding the truth is a direct violation of the divine trust and an act that trades eternal guidance for the fleeting gains of this world.

🔹 Verse 96 – Surah An-Nisa | Wilayah and Mahdawi Elucidation 🌙 The Noble Verse “[For them are] degrees [of high rank] from Him and forgiveness and mercy. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.” (An-Nisa, 4:96) ✍️ Wilayah Narration ✅ Amir al-Mu’minin…
🔹 Verse 97 – Surah An-Nisa | Wilayah & Mahdawi Explanation

🌙 Noble Verse

“Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves, [the angels] will say, ‘In what [condition] were you?’ They will say, ‘We were oppressed in the land.’ [The angels] will say, ‘Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?’ For those, their refuge is Hell – and evil it is as a destination.” (An-Nisa, 97)

✍️ Wilayah Narration

✅ Ali ibn Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: 💬 “This verse was revealed about those who abandoned Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (peace be upon him) and refrained from supporting him in battle. When the angels seize their souls, they ask, ‘What condition were you in?’ They reply, ‘We were weak and helpless.’ The angels respond, ‘Was not Allah’s religion and His Book vast enough for you to turn to and migrate for His sake?’ – meaning the way to know the truth was open.” 📚 Tafsir Ahl al-Bayt, v.3 | Al-Qummi, v.1 | Al-Burhan

🌟 Wilayah Reflection

🔹 The verse warns that excuses and claims of weakness are no justification for abandoning the Wilayah and failing to support the Guardian of Allah.
🔹 True “weakness” is not material poverty but the refusal to recognize the Divine Proof and indifference to the camp of truth — a self-inflicted injustice.
🔹 Here, Wilayah is the measure of salvation: whoever knows Ali’s right and stands with him is saved from being among “those who wronged themselves.”

✨ Mahdawi Reflection

🔸 In the era of Occultation, the truly weak are those genuinely deprived of access to the Proof; but anyone who knows the Imam yet neglects his support is counted among the self-wrongdoers.
🔸 Migration for Allah today means migrating from ignorance to knowledge, from heedlessness to insight, from passivity to active support for Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance).
🔸 This verse clarifies the duty of the Awaiters: when the means to recognize and aid the Imam exist, claiming helplessness is no excuse.

✅ Wilayah & Mahdawi Conclusion

✔️ Salvation requires leaving the zone of neutrality and indifference.
✔️ A believer loyal to Wilayah must “migrate” — intellectually, spiritually, and practically — if truth is neglected around them.
✔️ The true Hijrah today is towards the Imam of the Age: moving from the camp of falsehood to the camp of truth, bonded to the Wilayah.

🔵 Verse 115 — Surah An-Nisa | Wilayah & Mahdawi Explanation

🌙 The Noble Verse

“And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows a path other than that of the believers — We will turn him to what he has turned to and drive him into Hell, and what an evil destination.” (An-Nisa 4:115)

✍️ Wilayah Narrations

✅ Ali ibn Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) 💬 said: “Whoever opposes the Messenger after the path has been made clear, opposes his command.” 📚 Tafsir Ahl al-Bayt, v.3 | Al-Qummi, v.1

✅ Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) 💬 said: “This verse was revealed about those who, after the path of salvation was made clear, opposed the Prophet regarding the wilayah of Ali (a.s.).” 📚 Tafsir Ahl al-Bayt, v.3 | Bahr al-‘Irfan

✅ Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) also narrated: 💬 “When people in Kufa asked Imam Ali (a.s.) to appoint an imam for congregational prayer in Ramadan and he refused, some took it upon themselves to choose an imam without his permission. About this, the verse was revealed: ‘And whoever follows a way other than the way of the believers...’” 📚 Tafsir Ahl al-Bayt, v.3 | Bihar al-Anwar

🌟 Wilayah Insight

🔹 This verse places the “way of the believers” alongside obedience to the Messenger — showing that true guidance is always tied to the righteous believers and the rightful guardian (wali).
🔹 Anyone who, after recognizing the truth, turns away from the path of wilayah is in reality opposing the Prophet himself.
🔹 The wilayah of Ali (a.s.) is the standard of this path, as clearly affirmed in the Ahl al-Bayt’s narrations.

✨ Mahdawi Insight

🔸 In the age of occultation, the “way of the believers” means following the path of the hidden Imam (a.j.) and his rightful deputies.
🔸 Any break from this path is falling into the way of non-believers and risking enmity with the Divine Proof.
🔸 This verse shows that obedience to the Divine Proof in every era — whether at the dawn of Islam or during the time of waiting — is the true measure of faith.

✅ Wilayah & Mahdawi Conclusion

✔️ The path of salvation is obedience to the Prophet and the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.); any road apart from the “way of the believers of wilayah” is misguidance.
✔️ In the time of occultation, “the way of the believers” is heartfelt and practical allegiance to Imam al-Mahdi (a.j.); turning away is a betrayal of faith.
