Maria Ahadi: From Imprisonment to Islam

According to Rahyafte (Comprehensive Platform for Missionaries and New Muslims), Maria Ahadi, a former female inmate in Fardis Rehabilitation Center, shares her transformative journey to Islam after encountering Hazrat Abolfazl (AS).

Maria Ahadi, imprisoned for 17 years on murder charges in three different prisons (Shiraz, Rajaei Shahr, and Fardis Rehabilitation Center), reveals, "During this period, none of the authorities were aware of my Christian background."

Attending the mourning ceremonies of Imam Hussein (AS) and hearing the elegy for Hazrat Abolfazl (AS) had an inexplicable impact on her. She describes her spiritual awakening and recognition of Islam through her connection with Hazrat Abolfazl (AS).

The cultural mentor at Fardis Rehabilitation Center, upon learning about her conversion from Christianity to Islam, introduced her to various books, including "Fatimah Fatimah Ast." Subsequently, she established a personal library with over 800 titles, reigniting hope for a new life. Maria documented her memories in seven volumes.

The initial challenge she faced after embracing Islam was memorizing Ayat al-Kursi. The profound satisfaction she experienced upon successful memorization marked a turning point. Prior to this, Maria had no belief in freedom or returning to society, even avoiding social workers in prison. However, with the support of counselors and benefactors, she gained the approval of judicial authorities and secured her release, attributing her transformation to Hazrat Abolfazl (AS).

Maria also briefly mentions her criminal case and obtaining the consent of the involved parties, facilitated by the rehabilitation section. Born in France in 1376, she moved to Iran, her homeland, where her father is buried.

A graduate in Persian literature from Shahid Beheshti University, Maria initially worked in a construction company in Tehran. Intrigued by the construction potential in the warm climate of Shiraz, she relocated to the city. An encounter leading to marriage resulted in a tragic incident in their rented house with a swimming pool, where her husband's attempt to teach the neighboring 7-year-old girl to swim ended in a fatal accident. Maria took responsibility for the incident to secure her husband's release, even though he later died in a car accident after two years.
