Maria Ahadi: From Imprisonment to Islam

According to Rahyafte (Comprehensive Platform for Missionaries and New Muslims), Maria Ahadi, a former female inmate in Fardis Rehabilitation Center, shares her transformative journey to Islam after encountering Hazrat Abolfazl (AS).

Maria Ahadi, imprisoned for 17 years on murder charges in three different prisons (Shiraz, Rajaei Shahr, and Fardis Rehabilitation Center), reveals, "During this period, none of the authorities were aware of my Christian background."

Attending the mourning ceremonies of Imam Hussein (AS) and hearing the elegy for Hazrat Abolfazl (AS) had an inexplicable impact on her. She describes her spiritual awakening and recognition of Islam through her connection with Hazrat Abolfazl (AS).

The cultural mentor at Fardis Rehabilitation Center, upon learning about her conversion from Christianity to Islam, introduced her to various books, including "Fatimah Fatimah Ast." Subsequently, she established a personal library with over 800 titles, reigniting hope for a new life. Maria documented her memories in seven volumes.

The initial challenge she faced after embracing Islam was memorizing Ayat al-Kursi. The profound satisfaction she experienced upon successful memorization marked a turning point. Prior to this, Maria had no belief in freedom or returning to society, even avoiding social workers in prison. However, with the support of counselors and benefactors, she gained the approval of judicial authorities and secured her release, attributing her transformation to Hazrat Abolfazl (AS).

Maria also briefly mentions her criminal case and obtaining the consent of the involved parties, facilitated by the rehabilitation section. Born in France in 1376, she moved to Iran, her homeland, where her father is buried.

A graduate in Persian literature from Shahid Beheshti University, Maria initially worked in a construction company in Tehran. Intrigued by the construction potential in the warm climate of Shiraz, she relocated to the city. An encounter leading to marriage resulted in a tragic incident in their rented house with a swimming pool, where her husband's attempt to teach the neighboring 7-year-old girl to swim ended in a fatal accident. Maria took responsibility for the incident to secure her husband's release, even though he later died in a car accident after two years.

🔺The story of Steve Wood, a newly converted American Muslim and former Guantanamo prison guard, embracing Islam.

According to Rahyafte (Comprehensive Platform for Preachers and New Muslims) – as reported by Al Jazeera, Steve Wood, who worked as a guard at Guantanamo Bay, revealed that he converted to Islam after interacting with many Muslim prisoners, especially "Mohamedou Ould Slahi," prisoner number 760 from Mauritania.

He stated: "After continuous contact with Mohamedou Ould Slahi inside the prison, I resigned from my position in the U.S. military to embrace Islam."

Steve Wood added that it was through the prisoners at Guantanamo that he became familiar with the lives and beliefs of Muslims.

He emphasized that his life changed after meeting Ould Slahi and that he had tasted the sweetness and beauty of faith after converting to Islam.

Wood had a special mission within Guantanamo Bay, tasked with guarding prisoners arriving from Afghanistan. During this time, he met Mohamedou Ould Slahi, whose religious commitment, tolerance, and kindness toward his American captors, despite the harsh conditions he faced daily, had a profound impact on him.

He continued: "When I met Ould Slahi, despite the harsh treatment he endured from solitary confinement, I realized he was a different person, characterized by his constant calmness and optimistic outlook on life."

Despite the various forms of torture endured by Guantanamo prisoners, including Mohamedou Ould Slahi, Wood noted that this prisoner "holds no grudge against his captors."

He added: "After his release from Guantanamo, Slahi demonstrated even more forgiveness, harboring the least amount of resentment toward his captors or anyone else. This was due to his deep commitment to Islam and belief in its teachings."

Steve Wood had kept his conversion to Islam secret for some time, fearing the social perception and negative stereotypes surrounding Islam and Muslims, especially in the West after the events of September 11, 2001.

He said: "I was afraid people would think I was influenced by extremists coming from Afghanistan."

However, after publicly declaring his conversion to Islam, he denied facing any harassment.

Nevertheless, he stressed the importance of addressing hatred and racism, which target Muslims worldwide.

He concluded: "It’s difficult for the world to forget what happened on 9/11 and the loss of about 3,000 Americans, but the American reaction was harsh, and we witnessed many violations."

♦ Nazli Margaryan, a New Muslim from Armenia "I fell in love with the path of Martyr Hadi because he had sincerity in his actions." 🌐 @rahyafte_en @rahyafte_com 🔗 Read more #NewMuslim #Islam #MartyrHadi #Faith #Guidance
"I Converted to Islam at 17 and Chose the Shi'a Sect" – Nazli Margaryan’s Journey

Nazli Margaryan, a young woman from Armenia, found herself drawn to Islam from an early age. Her journey of faith eventually led her to embrace Shi'a Islam, inspired by her love for the Ahlul Bayt (AS) and the sincerity of Iran’s martyrs.

---

Early Interest in Iran and Islam

Nazli was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. Despite growing up in a non-Muslim environment, she developed a fascination with Iran from the age of 11 or 12. Her Iranian neighbors, though not religious themselves, unintentionally sparked her curiosity. She wanted to learn more about Iran and Islam, leading her to explore books and resources on the subject.

At 13, she learned to read and write in Persian, a skill that later helped her deepen her understanding of Islamic teachings. By 16, she was visiting the Blue Mosque in Yerevan, where she found books on Islam and began studying the religion seriously.

---

Conversion to Islam and Choosing Shi'ism

At 17, Nazli traveled to Iran, already convinced in her heart that she was a Muslim. She formally converted to Islam there but initially hesitated between Sunni and Shi'a beliefs. She considered Sunni Islam because of its stricter adherence to religious rulings but soon realized that her love for the Ahlul Bayt (AS) was innate.

"A true Shi'a doesn’t just claim faith but proves it through action. That’s what convinced me," she said.

---

Inspiration from Iranian Martyrs

Nazli’s deep connection with the Iranian culture and its revolution grew stronger when she watched "Goodbye, Friend", a documentary about Iran’s war martyrs. The film moved her to tears, and her interest in the martyrs of the Iran-Iraq war and the Defenders of the Shrine (Defa-e Haram) intensified.

She later visited Tehran’s Holy Defense Museum, where she felt a profound spiritual connection. This inspired her to research more about Iranian martyrs, leading her to read biographies of figures like Martyr Ibrahim Hadi and Martyr Mohsen Hojaji.

Her love for Martyr Ibrahim Hadi, in particular, was profound. She described him as a man of sincerity and action, a true embodiment of a faithful Muslim.

"A real Shi’a is someone who proves their faith through actions, not just words. That’s why I admire Martyr Ibrahim Hadi so much—he lived by his beliefs with sincerity and kindness," she expressed.

---

A Love for Iran and the Islamic Revolution

Nazli believes Iran is a unique nation blessed with strong leadership. She deeply respects Ayatollah Khamenei and credits his wisdom for keeping Iran safe and independent.

"If it weren’t for Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership, Iran could have ended up like Iraq or Afghanistan. He is the reason the U.S. does not dare to attack Iran," she stated passionately.

She dreams of one day living in Iran permanently, as she finds a sense of peace and belonging there.

---

A Message to Iranian Youth

Surprisingly, many of her Iranian friends were unaware of martyrs like Ibrahim Hadi. She actively shares their stories, reminding young Iranians to appreciate the sacrifices made for their security and freedom.

"The peace and comfort you enjoy today are because of the sacrifices of these martyrs. You must cherish and remember them," she advises.

Nazli Margaryan’s story is a testament to the universal appeal of truth and sincerity. Despite cultural and geographical barriers, her love for Islam, Iran, and its martyrs continues to inspire others.

🌟 Maria Farasis: An Italian Woman's Journey to Islam 🌟
https://rahyafteha.ir/102934/

Maria Farasis, an Italian woman who embraced Islam, shares her inspiring story of discovering faith and finding true dignity for women in a religion she calls "complete and comprehensive."

🧕 From Curiosity to Conversion

· 20 years ago, Maria knew nothing about Islam and felt dissatisfied with her lifestyle
· Her journey began when she met her Iranian husband, who introduced her to Persian culture and Islamic civilization
· Through studying books about Iran and Islam, she discovered the connections between Islam, Christianity, and Judaism
· "Islam is a complete religion that has clear answers for all life's needs," Maria explains

💫 Why Islam? The Dignity of Women

· "One of my criteria for becoming Muslim was preserving women's dignity and self-respect"
· "While in Western culture a woman is a tool, Islam has given women status"
· "In Western countries, women who choose to not cover lose their character, modesty, and chastity"
· "In Islam, women's modesty and virtue are preserved"

🛡️ Resisting Western Cultural Invasion

Maria warns about Western efforts to undermine Islamic values:

· "The enemies are trying to impose Western lifestyle on Iranian men and women through various tools like cinema"
· "Women in the West have become instruments and tools - we must ensure this doesn't happen in Iran"
· "To stop Western influence, domestic clothing production should be strengthened and promoted"

🧭 Finding Her Path to Shiism

· Maria expresses gratitude for meeting a Shia man that facilitated her journey to Islam
· "The school of Imam Hussein (AS) played a significant role in my becoming Shia"
· Despite initial challenges with hijab in hot weather, she found joy in being respected as a person rather than being viewed as an object

⚠️ A Warning About Cultural Changes

Having visited Iran for 20 years, Maria observes:

· "In my opinion, Iran has changed - Westerners have transferred their culture to this country"
· "When I see some young girls and boys, it's like I'm facing American youth"
· "Clothing should give value to humans, not take away their value - this is important for society"

Maria's journey reminds us that Islam offers women genuine dignity in a world that often reduces them to objects. Her story is a testament to the power of Islamic values in an increasingly materialistic world.

🕯️ From Doubt to Faith: How the Martyrdom of Lady Fatimah (AS) Guided a Seeker to Truth

In a secular-dominated Turkey, where true Islamic symbols are often obscured, a young man’s spiritual journey led him from Sunni upbringing to the luminous path of the Ahlulbayt (AS).

Meet Nurullah Ahchnar — born into a Sunni family, yet from a young age, his heart was restless with questions about the Prophet’s Household, especially the tragic fate of Lady Fatimah (AS), the beloved daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

❓ "Why was she treated with such injustice? Why is her grave hidden? Why did such silence surround her suffering?"

These questions haunted him, pushing him to search, study, and reflect deeply.

📖 Through books on Islamic history — including accounts of the Prophet’s passing and the events that followed — he began to uncover painful truths about what truly happened to the Ahlulbayt after the Prophet's departure.

🇮🇷 The 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran also deeply moved him. Hearing the sounds of Takbir from Iran on television, he felt Islam’s revival — powerful and alive.

⚡ Forced by increasing secular pressures in Turkey — where headscarves were banned and religious schools closed — he eventually migrated to Iran, where he now pursues a Master’s degree in Islamic Philosophy.

🕌 About Turkey today, he says:
"Western influence is strong, pushing a secular, European-style system. Yet, people are longing to return to their roots — to real Islam. The future will show whether those who want Islam will triumph over those trying to erase it."

📡 Regarding media propaganda against Iran:
"They tried hard to create fear and negativity toward Iran and the Islamic Revolution. But with time, Iran’s progress and resilience revealed the truth."

💎 His transformation teaches us:
Even in environments filled with distortion and distance from truth, a sincere heart, moved by the love and tragedy of Lady Fatimah (AS), can find its way to the light of true faith — the path of the Ahlulbayt.

📰 From Christian Journalist to Publisher of "Light of Hussein (AS)" in Cameroon

A story of faith, transformation, and dedicated media work from the heart of Africa.

🌟 A Journey from Christianity to the School of Ahl al-Bayt (AS)
Ali Bernard Ngam, a journalist from Cameroon, shares his spiritual journey. Standing at the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala, he expressed his deep affection for this land—the land of prophets and where Imam Hussain (AS) raised his cry for freedom against oppression. Each visit feels like the first, filled with profound emotion.

He states that embracing the school of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) fundamentally transformed his worldview: "I have changed a lot... After becoming a Shia, I realized my perspective on the world changed. I have become a role model in my society whom others follow, and all of this is from the blessings of the school of Ahl al-Bayt."

📖 Founding the "Noor al-Hussain" Magazine
As a journalist,he channeled his conviction into action by founding an electronic magazine, "Noor al-Hussain." Despite the challenges, he perseveres in publishing it. The magazine's content is dedicated to the teachings, life, and values of Ahl al-Bayt (AS), along with important news from the Islamic world and the holy shrines of Iraq.

He highlights that while freedom of expression is respected in Cameroon and promoting the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) faces no legal obstacles, there is a shortage of written, visual, and audio media that focuses on Imam Hussain (AS) and his noble tradition—a gap his magazine strives to fill.

🤝 Peaceful Coexistence & Growing Shia Community in Cameroon
The Shia community in Cameroon, though not having a long history, is on a growth trajectory, with estimates suggesting there are now over 50,000 Shia Muslims in the country.

He emphasizes the peaceful coexistence among followers of different religions in Cameroon, marked by significant cooperation and a sense of peace for all. There are no conflicts or disputes; all religions live together in affection and love. Interestingly, ceremonies and mourning gatherings held by followers of Ahl al-Bayt in mosques and Hussainiyahs are witnessing increasing participation from people, including Christians.

🎬 American Filmmaker's Insight: To Know the Prophet (PBUH), Know Imam Ali (AS)

A powerful message from a convert on the essence of true Islam.

👤 Sean Ali Stone, an American filmmaker and actor who embraced Islam, recently spoke with Al Mayadeen Network. He explained his choice of the name "Ali":

"I chose the name Ali because I love Imam Ali (AS). If we want to understand the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we must first understand Imam Ali (AS). He was the closest person to the Prophet and married his daughter. Imam Ali (AS) is unparalleled in his forbearance (musamaha), patience (sabr), and wisdom (hikmah). This is not just my opinion—even the Prophet (PBUH) praised Imam Ali (AS) many times."

🕊️ Two Islams: A Crucial Distinction
Stone made a critical observation about the Islam practiced today:

"If we look at the Islam of Imam Ali (AS), Imam Hasan (AS), and Imam Hussain (AS), we see an Islam that is different and forbearing. Some will say that another Islam is being promoted in the world, primarily financed by the Saudis. This model of Islam is not forbearing towards other religions. Thus, we have an Islam that seeks peace and another Islam that does not accept peace with others.

The problem for the rest of the world is that they are witnessing a model of Islam entering their countries that does not accept coexistence with others. They have hostile beliefs and believe they can steal from and harass non-Muslims. This makes the other side feel fear."

📝 In Summary:

· A convert's perspective on the centrality of Imam Ali (AS) to understanding the Prophet's (PBUH) message.
· A clear distinction between the forbearing, wise Islam of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and a more rigid, intolerant version promoted elsewhere.
· A call to recognize the true, peaceful essence of the faith.

🌟 From Hinduism & Christianity to Islam & Shiaism: A Spiritual Odyssey

🌍 The Journey of Muhammad Ali Mahdi - A New Muslim from England

"Assalamu Alaikum. My name is Muhammad Ali Mahdi. I live in Birmingham, England. When I accepted Islam, I clearly found Shiaism to be the true Islam. Shia means the lover of Ahl al-Bayt. I hope my words do not offend anyone, but I am sharing my personal discovery. I hope those who listen do not have a misconception about Shia and Ahl al-Bayt."

🛤️ The Path of Seeking
Born in Birmingham,he was sent to his Hindu grandparents in India as a baby. Raised with prayers to Vishnu and Hindu scriptures, he later converted to Christianity with his grandparents. His initial view of Islam, shaped by media, was of a violent, sword-wielding faith. At 23, back in England, a sign for a "Shia Islamic Information Centre" caught his curious eye.

📚 The Discovery of Truth
Entering the centre,he requested books to study. He returned three months later, saying: "I know of no religion other than Islam that speaks about the true God and what God wants from man. Islam teaches us how to pray, how to praise God, and what God wants from us in life."

His main struggle with Christianity was the concept of the Trinity. "I could not accept that God is God, Jesus is God, the Holy Spirit is God, yet we have only one God. I could not have faith in something my intellect did not accept," he explains, highlighting the pivotal role of reason in his journey.

🕌 The Light of Guidance
A pamphlet by Imam Khomeini (ra) from the centre was a turning point. "I was very shocked because I had no good conception of Islam, and now I was faced with such excellent and humane content." This led him to read George Jordac's "Imam Ali: The Voice of Human Justice" and Nahj al-Balagha.

💎 The Core of His Belief
He studied various topics from Islamic and Christian perspectives, concluding: "There is no evidence for the authenticity of the Christian Bible. Different authors wrote it, and its translations are not accurate... The historical Jesus was a human, not God."

"Islam removed doubt from me, and now I have certainty in the One God—a God who is aware of all our affairs and is the only One who grants us His forgiveness and mercy. Alhamdulillah Rabbil 'Alameen."

📖 His Call to All:
He urges everyone to study Nahj al-Balagha, the life of Imam Ali (as), the Ahl al-Bayt, and the works of Islamic scholars. "Doubt is the precursor to certainty. Allow for the possibility that you may not have understood Jesus correctly, so engage in precise study about Christianity."

🌟 A Journey to Islam: Chris Mortimer's Story

Source: http://rahyafteha.ir/40040/

Chris Mortimer: “The most peaceful place in the world is Mashhad al-Reza.”

In the second part of "Global Citizens," Chris Mortimer, a British convert to Islam, shares his inspiring journey. Having lived in Syria for a year, Chris often visited the shrine of Hazrat Zainab (SA). "Her shrine has a special feeling. She is the Mother of Calamities and has an extraordinary personality. Being there is like being near your own mother—someone who has endured great hardship and has always protected the survivors of Karbala. You feel you are in the presence of a great and powerful personality."

From London to Islam

Born and raised in south London, Chris grew up in a devout Catholic family. However, as a teenager, religion played a minimal role in his life. It wasn't until his friendship with Ali, an Iraqi Muslim, that he began to explore Islam deeply. Their bond wasn’t built on preaching but on genuine care and shared values. "What I truly felt about Ali was that he was my close friend and cared for me. He had a strong attachment to his faith—like when you have something good and want to share it with everyone."

Embracing Islam

After years of reflection, Chris converted at age 19. His family initially struggled with his decision, influenced by negative media portrayals of Islam. But over time, they witnessed positive changes in his behavior—more respect, helpfulness, and kindness. His mother even began buying halal meat for him.

Life-Changing Journeys

Chris’s first trip to Iran—visiting Isfahan, Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad—transformed his life. "When I went to the shrine of Imam Reza (AS), I said this is the most peaceful place in the world. Thousands, even hundreds of thousands, were there. It was crowded, yet it felt like the calmest place on earth." He also described his Hajj experience: "When I saw the Kaaba for the first time, an overwhelming force took over me. I fell into prostration and cried uncontrollably—a completely different experience for someone like me."

Marriage and Family

Chris met his wife, Safiya, while working on a religious TV program. Despite initial hesitations—her father was the director of an Islamic center—her family welcomed him warmly. They now hope to raise their children with multiple languages and a deep connection to their faith.

Media and Modern Challenges

Chris highlights the double standards in Western media: "You can’t criticize someone for being Jewish, or for their race, sexual orientation, or gender—but one group you can easily criticize is Muslims!" This pressure may eventually lead his family to consider moving to a Muslim-majority country for a more supportive environment.

A Message of Peace and Resilience

Chris’s story is a testament to the power of sincere friendship, personal research, and spiritual discovery. His journey reflects how the Islamic Revolution influenced Muslims worldwide, inspiring many to embrace their faith more deeply.
