📀 4 January 1967.
55 yeas ago, after just 6 days of recording The Doors, a young band from Los Angeles, California, release their eponymous debut album.
The Doors is an immediate success, mainly thanks to the single Light My Fire, which would become a huge rock music standard, selling 1 million copies and peaking the US charts for weeks.
The Doors is still considered one of the best rock albums of all time: every song contained in it is a gem, from the initial hard rock Break On Through (To The Other Side) to the final shocking psychedelia The End, a 12 minutes epic track which helped to create that everlasting aura of myth surrounding the #Doors, in particular frontman #JimMorrison.

🎼4 January 1942. Happy 80th birthday 🥳🍾 to John McLaughlin, born in Doncaster, England. He is considered by many prominent guitarists... the best #guitarist 🎸alive, having pioneered Jazz Fusion in early 1970s: his music combines elements of jazz with rock, world music, Indian classical music, Western classical music, flamenco, and blues 😳👏
#JohnMcLaughlin albums and guest appearances during his 6 decades career are literally uncountable, having collaborated and played with the likes of #MilesDavis, #TonyWilliams, #JimiHendrix, #JeffBeck, #AlDiMeola, #JoniMitchell, #CarlosSantana, to name a few...
McLaughlin has been member and leader of seminal The Mahavishnu Orchestra, one of the earliest jazz fusion bands ever and Shakty in the 70s.
A (partial) list of all his works as a solo and collaborative artist here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McLaughlin_discography

35 years ago L.A. Guns from Los Angeles, #USA released their self-titled debut studio album.
L.A.Guns had poor commercial response, despite its distinctive rough "street metal" sound and the presence of founder and wonderful guitarist Tracii Guns, one of the crucial figures in the L.A. Glam Metal scene of the time (he actually co-founded with Axl Rose #GunsnRoses, where "Guns" stayed for Tracii and "Roses" for Axl).
This album is the only #LAGuns release to feature drummer Nickey "Beat" Alexander, who was replaced by #SteveRiley soon after recordings and does not even appear in the album back cover (📸 see my album copy in #VeniceRocksRoom☝️)
One of my favorite of that era!
In this album:
#PhilLewis – vocals
#TraciiGuns – lead guitar
#MickCripps – rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals
#KellyNickels – bass, harmonica, whistle, backing vocals
#NickeyAlexander – drums
