40 years ago The Smiths from Manchester, #UK, released their 3rd studio album.
The Queen Is Dead is unanimously considered #TheSmiths best album and one of the greatest and most influential records in British music.
I remember totally hating this band and this sound at the time, as much as I love them today!

40 years ago R.E.M. from Athens, Georgia, #USA released their 4th studio album.
Lifes Rich Pageant is widely considered a landmark album in #REM career: the band finally delievered their typical and unmistakable sound, also thanks to the producer Don Gehman who moved them towards a more accessible style.
Though lacking of significant hits, the album sold well (at the time R.E.M. best seller) and paved the way to their enormous success and recognition as one of the most influential Alternative Rock bands.
Possibly my favorite R.E.M.❤️🔥

This is #REM final album with drummer and founding member Bill Berry who left in 1997.
Many of the tracks were recorded live during their 1995 American tour.
R.E.M. have always considered this album as the peak of their career... and probably it is!
