🎼3 March 1978. Patti Smith already known as the "punk poet laureate" and later the "priestess of punk" releases along with her Patti Smith Group the album "Easter", which in my opinion contains THE punk song of all time!!! "Rock N Roll Nigger"😈🀟
In this album there is also her worldwide best acclaimed hit, written by #BruceSpringsteen πŸ€” Do you remember which song I'm talking about? If so, you can post the song in the Chat Room πŸ‘‡πŸ˜

🎼30 December 1946. Happy 75th Birthday πŸ₯³πŸΎ to the "Punk Poet Laureate", later "Punk Priestess" and today "Punk Grandmother" (as New York Mayor called her) Patti Smith, born Patricia Lee Smith in Chicago USA, and a lifetime New Yorker.
She was crucial for the explosion of the New York City Punk Rock movement thanks to her 1975 debut album "Horses" 🀟
In the decades she has been a constant reference point for the whole city rock scene.
And her City just payed tribute yesterday, awarding #PattiSmith with the Keys of New York πŸ”‘πŸ‘πŸ™Œ

In the Chat RoomπŸ‘‡ the award ceremony.

35 years ago The Mission release The First Chapter, a complilation of the band's early recordings right after #WayneHussey and #CraigAdams left #SistersofMercy. This album immediately follows the band's debut album of 2 months before and contains first singles, cover songs of #NeilYoung and #PattiSmith plus one of my fav #TheMission tracks, Sepent Kiss.
The First Chapter was published in USA some months later with a different cover and as The Mission UK for legal reasons.

🎸 Talking 'bout New York Rock'n'Roll these days, here's a rare photo of #PattiSmith, the Punk Priestess, in her first trip to Venice, 1978.

She had just released her best selling album Easter (#3March 1978), which imho contains one of the best punk songs ever... and another Monday rechargerπŸ‘‡

50 years ago Patti Smith from Chicago, #USA released her debut studio album.

Smith was living in New York since 1969 and she already had a name in the city as a poet, songwriter, visual artist and performer.

When Horses came out it was an immediate huge success and Patti Smith became the most influential member of the New York City–based punk movement and one of the most influential female artists internationally.

The opener "Gloria" (part one: "In Excelsis Deo" / part two: "Gloria (Version)" is a fantastic rendition of #Them / #VanMorrison classic.

πŸ“ŒπŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨πŸŽΆ You probably won't believe, but one of the most interesting and surprising Pavillions of the #ArtBiennale here in Venice, is always that of the Holy See... yes the Vatican πŸ˜‡

2 years ago it was hosted by the local πŸ‘‰ women prison, this year it will be inside the Mystic Garden of "Carmelitani Scalzi" Monks, close to Venice Train Station πŸ“Έβ˜οΈ

The Pavillion is entitled The Ear is the Eye of the Soul and among the artists involved there are none less that #BrianEno, #JimJarmush and #PattiSmith ❀️‍πŸ”₯
