Television
π Marquee Moon
#PostPunk #ArtRock #GarageRock
45 years ago Television, rock band from New York, #USA, released their debut album Marquee Moon.
This album was critically acclaimed at the time and today is considered seminal for all later development of Punk, Alternative Rock, New Wave, Indie Rock.
#Television music was clean, improvisational and technically proficient as compared to all contemporaneous punk rock bands: therefore Marquee Moon is regarded both as a defining release of the punk era and even a Post Punk work... before punk exploded!
Television were:
#TomVerlaine β guitar, keyboards, lead vocals, songwriter, producer
Billy Ficca β drums
Richard Lloyd β guitar, vocals
Fred Smith β bass, vocals
#BrianEno produced some early Television demo songs which later would be included in the album: Tom Verlaine, not happy with the sound, decided to produce Marquee Moon by himself, with the help of sound engineer Andy Johns (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin).
Masterpiece!

55 years ago MC5 from Detroit, #USA, released their debut album, a live album in fact recorded in Detroit on Devil's and Halloween Nights (30-31 October) 1968.

From the initial speech by "spiritual advisor" Brother J. C. Crawford and the punky falsetto vocals of π Wayne Kramer (RIP) on the opener "Ramblin' Rose", Kick Out The Jams is undoubtedly one of the most energetic live albums in history and a genuine symbol of the 1960s counterculture.
