🎼Since this started like a "Bologna Day"... it's good to realize that still today some bands keep the city tradition πŸ”₯ alive! πŸ€ŸπŸ‘
Here's a track from my friends Ugly Birds... dirty rock'n'roll blues and of course dirty lyrics in Italian and in #Bologna dialect πŸ˜‰πŸŽΈπŸ” #UglyBirds

🎼 The "Rockabillies": Jerry Lee Lewis
(Born September 29, 1935)
Genres: #Rockabilly #RocknRoll

"If I'm going to Hell, I'm going there playing the piano."
#JerryLeeLewis

Probably the only guy who could set a stage afire πŸ”₯... just with a piano 🎹

His major hits "Great Balls of Fire", "Breathless", "High School Confidential", "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On"

🎼 The "Rockabillies": Roy Orbison, The Lonely One
(April 23, 1936 - December 6, 1988)
Genres: #Rockabilly #RocknRoll

#RoyOrbison was one of a kind in the Rockabilly era: he was called "The Caruso of Rock'n'Roll" for his fantastic voice and in times when his fellow music mates were rivaling for masculinity and setting stages afire, Orbison was singing only about loneliness, broken love and vulnerability... plus he hid behind thick sunglasses 😎 for his stagefright!

Also incredible how his 2 major hits belong to the 1980s: his 1964 "Oh, Pretty Woman" was already his biggest number, but it sold millions in the 80s, first after πŸ‘‰ Van Halen's cover and most notably after being the soundtrack to the iconic movie of the same name with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere!
The other big hit "You Got It" came out only in 1989, released posthumous after Roy's death... and was massive!

🎼 The "Rockabillies": Eddie Cochran
(October 3, 1938 - April 17, 1960)
Genres: #Rockabilly #RocknRoll #RnB

"Sometimes I wonder what I'm a-gonna do
'Cause there ain't no cure for the summertime blues."
#EddieCochran

One of the most influential early Rockabilly singers - songwriters. His most famous hits "Twenty Flight Rock", "Summertime Blues", "C'mon Everybody" and "Somethin' Else" became favorite standards for so many future rock and punk bands, from #TheWho to #SexPistols, from #BlueCheer to #StrayCats.

Gone too soon at 21 πŸ˜” in a car accident when in England on tour with his friend and fellow rockabilly hero #GeneVincent.

"I hope my fans remember my name is Gene Vincent and not Gene Autry*"
#GeneVincent
(February 11, 1935 – October 12, 1971)

* Popular American Western actor at the time

Guess he succeeded in being remembered, since he penned and performed in 1956
the most known and representative song of an entire music genre: #BeBopALula πŸ‘πŸ”₯
"If I'm going to Hell, I'm going there playing the piano."
