🎼🎸🔥18 June 1967. One of the most iconic photos of the entire XX century (and not just in music I'd say) is shot at Monterey International Pop Music Festival☝️
The Who had just concluded one of their devastating shows (they used to destroy instruments at the end) when a young and at the time little known #guitarist was introduced to the audience on stage by Rolling Stone's #BrianJones: he was of course #JimiHendrix!
I'm sure he just wanted to shock the public (and somehow imitate The Who) when he set his guitar afire after playing a memorable version of "Wild Thing"... but the thing he was probably not aware of, is that this picture would become forever an immortal symbol of Rock'n'Roll ! #18June
Thank You Jimi 🔥❤️

🎼28 February 1942. Today Brian Jones, singer, songwriter, #guitarist and multi-instrumentalist would turn 80!
60 years ago (early 1962) he put an advert in a music magazine to form a Rhythm'n'Blues band in London... when "the guys" replied he named the band Rolling Stones 🤟
Jones is an unfortunate member of the so called 27 Club, ideally started with 👉 Robert Johnson. He drowned in a pool aged 27 and his death (like many in that Club) is surrounded by mistery and speculations.
A rock giant and legend forever!

🎼 On the other side of the Ocean: British Blues
And what was happening outside the US?
American music was invading and becoming popular in many other countries thanks to
👉Jukeboxes, Radio programs and the first Record Stores.
UK for obvious reasons was the first country to witness an increasing interest in Rock'n'Roll in late 1950s and early 1960s.
In particular 2 figures were fundamental for the growth of the so called British Blues, which would lead to the "British Invasion" in a few years: Alexis Korner first with his Blues Incorporated and John Mayall later with his Bluesbreakers 📸☝️
Many British musicians who became famous in the 60s were part of these 2 projects, which today could be addressed as incubators: #MickJagger, #BrianJones, #JackBruce, #EricClapton to name a few, all started with 🎧Alexis Korner and 🎧John Mayall.
And literally every rock artist and band of the time, started a career after attending concerts of the both at the legendary Marquee Club.
Pioneers!
