🎸 Rock History on Weekend

🎼 Rhythm and Blues 🎸🎹🎷🥁🎺

Often abbreviated as R&B or R'n'B, Rhythm and Blues originated directly from Blues in the late 1940s thanks to the introduction of electric instruments which led most bluesmen to play their music in city venues and recording studios supported by backing bands, as opposed to their previous solitude in the fields.
Generally the bands consisted of piano, one or two guitars, bass, drums, one or more brass instruments, and background vocalists.

#RnB was the crucial connection between black and white musicians: the white 1950s teen idols, pushed by record companies and scouting agents, began to cover songs of black artists (and the other way round) and R&B hit soon the American charts: this magic mix of musicians influencing each other ended up in creating Rock'n'Roll ! ❤️‍🔥

R&B legacy is so important if one thinks that a decade later many UK major bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin... all started as Rhythm and Blues bands!
