πΌ55 years ago, 1966 (!!!) #FrankZappa released his first studio album, Freak Out, along with his band The Mothers Of Invention.
Rock'n'Roll music was born only few years earlier and was still evolving, pioneers like #ElvisPresley, #LittleRichard, #ChuckBerry were still hitting the charts, #Beatles and #RollingStones were at the peak of their popularity, #JimiHendrix was non yet around, Prog Rock was far from coming... how could the world be ready in 1966 for such an innovative, uncompromising music composition and approach, harsh lyrics and virulent satire!?! π³
Freak Out, like all Zappa's works which followed, was simply out of time and would probably be far ahead even today!

π Howlin' Wolf
60 years ago Chicago Bluesman Howlin' Wolf released his eponymous second album, mainly made of hit singles issued in previous years.
Most of the songs are written by #ChicagoBlues legend #WillieDixon, who along with #MuddyWaters and #HowlinWolf himself was crucial in shaping that distinctive blues sound.
This album is often referred as The Rockin' Chair Album from its cover photo and contains blues standards such as "Little Red Rooster" (later covered by #RollingStones), "Spoonful" (later covered by #Cream), "Back Door Man" and "Shake for Me" (later reprised by #LedZeppelin in their hit "Whole Lotta Love") and his trademark song "Howlin' for My Darlin".

πΌ28 February 1942. Today Brian Jones, singer, songwriter, #guitarist and multi-instrumentalist would turn 80!
60 years ago (early 1962) he put an advert in a music magazine to form a Rhythm'n'Blues band in London... when "the guys" replied he named the band Rolling Stones π€
Jones is an unfortunate member of the so called 27 Club, ideally started with π Robert Johnson. He drowned in a pool aged 27 and his death (like many in that Club) is surrounded by mistery and speculations.
A rock giant and legend forever!

After the huge success of their 2nd single (π the song shared with The Beatles) and their early 1964 EP, their first full-lenght was eagerly awaited and gained the #RollingStones international stardom.
Rolling Stones came out first in the UK through Decca Records and 1 month later in the US through London Records with a different title: England's Newest Hit MakersβοΈ
This title choice maybe describes more than anything else that 1960s phenomenon in America that would be called The British Invasion.
Another Rolling Stones trademark started with this record, was the fact that their 1960s UK and US album releases had different track listings.
