🎼55 years ago, 1966 (!!!) #FrankZappa released his first studio album, Freak Out, along with his band The Mothers Of Invention.
Rock'n'Roll music was born only few years earlier and was still evolving, pioneers like #ElvisPresley, #LittleRichard, #ChuckBerry were still hitting the charts, #Beatles and #RollingStones were at the peak of their popularity, #JimiHendrix was non yet around, Prog Rock was far from coming... how could the world be ready in 1966 for such an innovative, uncompromising music composition and approach, harsh lyrics and virulent satire!?! 😳

Freak Out, like all Zappa's works which followed, was simply out of time and would probably be far ahead even today!

"We all came out to #Montreux
On the Lake Geneva shoreline
To make records with a mobile
We didn't have much time
#FrankZappa and the Mothers
Were at the best place around
But some stupid with a flare gun
Burned the place to the ground"

55 years ago Frank Zappa from Baltimore, #USA released his 2nd studio album as a solo artist.

Zappa used advanced recording equipment to create an album of outstanding technical and musical quality.
The album is composed of 5 instrumental tracks while the song "Willie The Pimp" features his friend πŸ‘‰ Captain Beefheart on vocals.

I don't often listen to Zappa, but when I do I always start with this one ❀️‍πŸ”₯

Frank Zappa
πŸ“€ Francesco Zappa
#ChamberMusic #Electronic

40 years ago Frank Zappa from Baltimore, #USA, released a Chamber Music album named after Francesco Zappa, an obscure Italian cellist who composed between 1763 and 1788.

Frank Zappa found out about Francesco Zappa thanks to a friend musician, David Ocker. Frank was of course attracted having the same name and wanted to discover and record Francesco's music.

The album features synthesized arrangements of Francesco Zappa compositions performed by the so called The Barking Pumpkin Digital Gratification Consort conducted by #FrankZappa.

Amazing story ❀️

πŸ—£πŸŽΈ#19September 1985.
On this day of 40 years ago, 3 prominent musicians were admitted for hearings at the US Senate, in front of the #PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center) commitee.

PMRC at that time was not only aiming to put the (in)famous Parental Advisory sticker☝️but they were arguing to introduce a rating system based on objectionable lyrics for Rock albums!

PMRC became in the years the main target for musicians of all genres, and these 3 guys were widely regarded as "The Holy Trinity" in defense of Rock Music and freedom of expression and against censorship:

πŸ”₯ #DeeSnider "The Fire"
❀️ #JohnDenver "The Heart"

In the comments the complete hearings on that dayπŸ‘‡
