50 years ago, in an undocumented date, Opus Avantra from #Veneto region, released their debut studio album.
Often referred as Introspezione (the title of the first song), this album aimed to perfectly fuse Classical and Opera (Opus) with Progressive Avant Garde Rock (Avan) and Traditional music (Tra).
#OpusAvantra opera singer Donella Del Monaco is the nephew of 👉 Mario Del Monaco, one of the best and most famous Italian tenors.
The band became also one of the few in #Italy to be associated with Rock In Opposition movement (#RIO) started in the UK by 👉 Henry Cow.

55 years ago Frank Zappa from Baltimore, #USA released his 2nd studio album as a solo artist.
Hot Rats was concieved as a "movie for your ears".
Zappa used advanced recording equipment to create an album of outstanding technical and musical quality.
The album is composed of 5 instrumental tracks while the song "Willie The Pimp" features his friend 👉 Captain Beefheart on vocals.
I don't often listen to Zappa, but when I do I always start with this one ❤️🔥

50 years ago, in an undocumented date, Picchio Dal Pozzo from #Genoa, #Italy released their self-titled debut album.
The band was founded by Aldo De Scalzi, key figure for the development of Progressive Rock in #Liguria and #Lombardy regions. He owned a studio and record label along with his brother Vittorio, founder of New Trolls, and in the years worked with Latte e Miele, Museo Rosenbach, Alphataurus, Pholas Dactylus to name a few.
After finally publishing
👉 Celeste debut album that year, De Scalzi gathered with friends and collaborators to record and release this album which is considered unique in the Italian Progressive Rock panorama.
#PicchioDalPozzo is rather different from all #RPI releases, often associated with the #Canterbury scene (the album is in fact dedicated to Robert Wyatt) and even compared with some of Frank Zappa's finest compositions.
