Delirium
πŸ“€ Lo Scemo e il Villaggio
#ProgressiveRock #ProgressiveFolk #JazzRock

50 years ago, in an undocumented date, Delirium from #Genoa, #Italy released their 2nd studio album.

This album came out probably towards the end of the year, after 2 dramatic events for #Delirium: the great success after performing at the Italian TV "Festival di Sanremo" the non album single "Jesahel" (their biggest hit ever) and the sudden departure of frontman and leader #IvanoFossati who penned it and started a solo career.

Despite these events, Lo Scemo e il Villaggio is widely regarded as a good Progressive Rock album where folk, jazz and melody perfectly blend, though it had little consideration at the time.

In this album:
#MimmoDiMartino - guitar, vocals
#EttoreVigo - piano, organ, vocals
#MartinGrice - saxophone, flute, vocals
#MarcelloReale - bass, double bass, vocals
#PeppinoDiSanto - drums, percussion, gong

Matia Bazar
πŸ“€ MelanchΓ³lia
#Pop #PopRock #SophistiPop #ProgressivePop #ArtPop

40 years ago Matia Bazar from #Genoa, #Italy released their 9th studio album.

MelanchΓ³lia is their most successful album and is widely regarded as the masterpiece of the so called #ItaloPop and a blueprint for the 80s #EuroPop.

Left aside these definitions, this is one of those albums when you think you have just heard its best song and then next one is even better...and better...and better. Antonella Ruggiero was possibly the best female vocalist around at the time❀️‍πŸ”₯

From the opener absolute banger πŸ‘‰ Ti Sento (#MatiaBazar signature) to the closing sophisti "Souvenir", simply amazing!

In this album:
#AntonellaRuggiero β€“ vocals
#AldoStellita β€“ bass
#CarloMarrale β€“ guitar, backing vocals
#SergioCossu – keyboards
#GiancarloGolzi β€“ drums

With
#JacopoJacopetti, #RudyTrevisi – sax
#SerseMay, #RobertSidoli, #PieroCairo - synthesizers, programming

Sadist
πŸ“€ Tribe
#ProgressiveDeathMetal #TechnicalDeathMetal

30 years ago Sadist from #Genoa, #Italy released their 2nd studio album.

Tribe was recorded between Italy and England in 1995 and is widely considered #Sadist best album and a songwriting peak of band leader Tommaso "Tommy" Talamanca.

Thanks to this record the band got comparisons with the masters of Technical / Progressive Death Metal genre such as Atheist, Cynic, Nocturnus and even Death.

Stunning, amazing, possibly the best keayboads driven Death Metal I've heard🀘πŸ”₯

In this album:
#Zanna (Andrea Zanna) - vocals
#Tommy (Tommaso Talamanca) - guitar, keyboards, effect
#Chicco (Chicco Parisi) - bass
#Peso (Marco Pesenti, ex #Necrodeath) - drums
#JaneVaughan, #AlamKhondaker – guest vocals

Picchio Dal Pozzo
πŸ“€ Picchio Dal Pozzo
#ProgressiveRock #ExperimentalRock #AvantProg

50 years ago, in an undocumented date, Picchio Dal Pozzo from #Genoa, #Italy released their self-titled debut album.

The band was founded by Aldo De Scalzi, key figure for the development of Progressive Rock in #Liguria and #Lombardy regions. He owned a studio and record label along with his brother Vittorio, founder of New Trolls, and in the years worked with Latte e Miele, Museo Rosenbach, Alphataurus, Pholas Dactylus to name a few.

After finally publishing
πŸ‘‰ Celeste debut album that year, De Scalzi gathered with friends and collaborators to record and release this album which is considered unique in the Italian Progressive Rock panorama.

#PicchioDalPozzo is rather different from all #RPI releases, often associated with the #Canterbury scene (the album is in fact dedicated to Robert Wyatt) and even compared with some of Frank Zappa's finest compositions.
