Osanna
📀 Palepoli
#ProgressiveRock #ProgressiveFolk

50 years ago #Osanna from #Naples, released their 3rd studio album, then distributed in 1973, considered the highest point in the band's discography.

One of the earliest concept albums in #Italy, along with the works of 👉 Banco and
👉 Balletto of the same year.
2 suites about Parthenope, the old city (= "Palepoli" in ancient Greek) of Naples, described as a mythological community, opposed to the new Neapolis, symbol of individualism and consumerist society.

In Palepoli Rock and Jazz perfectly mix with Neapolitan Folk sounds.
From minute 9:00 of the suite "Oro Caldo" Heavy⚡️Metal appears for the first time in Italy!

Absolute Timeless Masterpiece ❤️‍🔥

In this album:
#DaniloRustici – guitars, organ, piano, vocals
#LinoVairetti – vocals, guitars, ARP 2600, Mellotron
#ElioDAnna – sax, flute, vocals
#MassimoGuarino – drums, vibraphone, percussion
#LelloBrandi – bass

Delirium
📀 Lo Scemo e il Villaggio
#ProgressiveRock #ProgressiveFolk #JazzRock

50 years ago, in an undocumented date, Delirium from #Genoa, #Italy released their 2nd studio album.

This album came out probably towards the end of the year, after 2 dramatic events for #Delirium: the great success after performing at the Italian TV "Festival di Sanremo" the non album single "Jesahel" (their biggest hit ever) and the sudden departure of frontman and leader #IvanoFossati who penned it and started a solo career.

Despite these events, Lo Scemo e il Villaggio is widely regarded as a good Progressive Rock album where folk, jazz and melody perfectly blend, though it had little consideration at the time.

In this album:
#MimmoDiMartino - guitar, vocals
#EttoreVigo - piano, organ, vocals
#MartinGrice - saxophone, flute, vocals
#MarcelloReale - bass, double bass, vocals
#PeppinoDiSanto - drums, percussion, gong

Jethro Tull
📀 Minstrel In The Gallery
#ProgressiveRock #FolkRock #HardRock #ProgressiveFolk

50 years ago Jethro Tull from Luton, England, #UK released their 8th studio album.

Minstrel In The Gallery was recorded in Monte Carlo where the band was in tax exile.
In this album #JethroTull went back to their origins in a blend of electric and acoustic songs invested with elements of British folk and pre-Elizabethan sounds.

The final result is in my opinion an absolute masterpiece, possibly my favorite album from them along with Aqualung ❤️‍🔥

In this album:
#IanAnderson – vocals, flute, acoustic guitar
#MartinBarre – guitar
#JohnEvan – piano, organ
#JeffreyHammond – bass, string bass
#BarriemoreBarlow – drums, percussion

Additional personnel
#DeePalmer – string quintet arrangements and conducting
#RitaEddowes, #ElizabethEdwards, #PatrickHalling, #BridgetProcter – violin
#KatharineTullborn – cello
#5September
