Delirium
πŸ“€ Lo Scemo e il Villaggio
#ProgressiveRock #ProgressiveFolk #JazzRock

50 years ago, in an undocumented date, Delirium from #Genoa, #Italy released their 2nd studio album.

This album came out probably towards the end of the year, after 2 dramatic events for #Delirium: the great success after performing at the Italian TV "Festival di Sanremo" the non album single "Jesahel" (their biggest hit ever) and the sudden departure of frontman and leader #IvanoFossati who penned it and started a solo career.

Despite these events, Lo Scemo e il Villaggio is widely regarded as a good Progressive Rock album where folk, jazz and melody perfectly blend, though it had little consideration at the time.

In this album:
#MimmoDiMartino - guitar, vocals
#EttoreVigo - piano, organ, vocals
#MartinGrice - saxophone, flute, vocals
#MarcelloReale - bass, double bass, vocals
#PeppinoDiSanto - drums, percussion, gong

Pholas Dactylus
πŸ“€ Concerto Delle Menti
#ProgressiveRock #RPI

50 years ago Pholas Dactylus from #Milan #Italy, released their debut (and only) studio album in the 70s, the band would in fact split soon after, to reunite 40 years later.

Concerto Delle Menti is a musical journey divided into 2 sides-parts, to me really a hell of an album!

Vocals in Italian are entirely #SpokenWord, a psychedelic narration on biblical and apocalyptic visions abruptly cut at the album's end.
All accompanied by a guitar and piano driven crescendo in which elements of #JazzRock, #AvantGarde, #HeavyMetal, #SpaceRock and surprisingly #KrautRock (#PholasDactylus toured in fact only with Amon DΓΌΓΌl II in their short life) perfectly coexhist.

In this album:
#PaoloCarelli - voice
#EleinoColladet - guitars
#ValentinoGalbusera, #MaurizioPancotti - keyboards
#RinaldoLinati - bass
#GiampieroNava - drums

#VittorioDeScalzi (New Trolls) - production

Recorded in Los Angeles where Holdsworth had just relocated, and released as Allan Holdsworth with I.O.U. (his band), Metal Fatigue is widely considered an all time masterpiece!

This album was highly praised by all the most important guitarists of the time, who cited it as a big influence and inspiration.
Frank Zappa, who generally was not so nice to his fellow musicians, addressed Holdsworth as "one of the most interesting guys on guitar on the planet", while others called him "the #JohnColtrane of the guitar".

In this album:
#AllanHoldsworth β€“ guitar, producer
#PaulWilliams, #PaulKorda β€“ vocals
#AlanPasqua β€“ keyboards

Zappa and Beefheart knew each other for long time and both made guest appearances in respective albums but never released a proper collaboration before.

Soft Machine
πŸ“€ Softs
#JazzRock #ProgressiveRock #InstrumentalRock #JazzFusion

50 years ago Soft Machine from #Canterbury, England, #UK released their 9th studio album.

Like πŸ‘‰ their previous album, Softs features a wider use of guitars as compared to the band's past discography.

During the recording of the album, #SoftMachine last remaining original member, Mike Ratledge, left the band.
This is probably why many see this album as a complete loss of the band's identity.

In any case this is amazing music from beginning to end ❀️‍πŸ”₯

In this album:
#RoyBabbington β€“ bass
#JohnEtheridge β€“ acoustic and electric guitars
#JohnMarshall β€“ drums, percussion
#AlanWakeman β€“ saxophones
#KarlJenkins β€“ piano, electric piano, Hohner Pianet, Minimoog, string synthesizers, orchestrations
