30 years ago Timoria from #Brescia, #Italy released their 4th studio album.
A concept album about the dramatic life journey of a local boy and his final resilience, Viaggio Senza Vento is undoubtedly one of the best albums in Italian Rock history🤘
I chose it as "album of the year" because it meant a lot to me and to many rockers in their 20s who lived in #Lombardy in those years.
I personally knew #Timoria guys and spent my summer 1994 following them on tour across the region.
Those were the days ❤️🔥

70 years ago, the first human beings (of course as far as we know) put their feet on the top of Karakorum 2 (#K2) in Pakistan, the Savage Mountain, the Unviolated Peak, the deadliest and most dangerous in the world, 8611 mt. high.
These human beings were part of an #Italy / Pakistan expedition of more than 100 climbers and porters.
Only 2 of them reached the top, #AchilleCompagnoni from #Lombardy #Alps and #LinoLacedelli from #Cortina D'Ampezzo, #Dolomites.
As always happend in these expeditions some lost their lives.

Era il 31 luglio del 1954 e per la prima volta in assoluto due uomini mettevano piede sulla vetta del K2, la seconda cima più alta del mondo. Erano Achille Compagnoni e Lino Lacedelli e il K2 diventava per tutti la montagna degli italiani. La retorica odierna…

50 years ago, in an undocumented date, Picchio Dal Pozzo from #Genoa, #Italy released their self-titled debut album.
The band was founded by Aldo De Scalzi, key figure for the development of Progressive Rock in #Liguria and #Lombardy regions. He owned a studio and record label along with his brother Vittorio, founder of New Trolls, and in the years worked with Latte e Miele, Museo Rosenbach, Alphataurus, Pholas Dactylus to name a few.
After finally publishing
👉 Celeste debut album that year, De Scalzi gathered with friends and collaborators to record and release this album which is considered unique in the Italian Progressive Rock panorama.
#PicchioDalPozzo is rather different from all #RPI releases, often associated with the #Canterbury scene (the album is in fact dedicated to Robert Wyatt) and even compared with some of Frank Zappa's finest compositions.
