Ernest Hemingway, one of the greatest writers and novelists of XX century, sings these words in Italian to his wife Mary before going to bed in their house in Ketchum, Idaho, USA.
He learned this song (which is a rendition of an ancient Venetian - Istrian popular chant, "La Mula de Parenzo") in Cortina d'Ampezzo - #Dolomites (see 📸☝️), his favorite place in Italy along with Venice, where he traveled for many years and will be forever tied to.

On that night of 60 years ago, after singing these words, #Hemingway decided to take his own life...

Happy Birthday 🥳🍾 to Kristian Ghedina from #Cortina d'Ampezzo, #Dolomites, #Italy, one of the best (and craziest 😳🙈) World Cup alpine ski racer ever!
His 13 victories were a record for Italian #downhill skiers until another Dolomites born (and Metalhead 😈🎸🤘) called 👉 DominikParis came 20 years later to become the best men's downhill in our history!

Here's one of the craziest things ever done in a downhill (Kristian's last one in fact!) at 140Km/h and after 2 minutes race on the world's most exhausting slope (#Kitzbühel 2004)👇

🎥18 March 1964. Dolomites in Movies Series.

60 years ago the first chapter of the legendary comedy film series The Pink Panther was released internationally. It was first released in #Italy before Christmas 1963, since most of the scenes were filmed in #Rome and in #Cortina d'Ampezzo, 30 minutes drive from #myhometown in the #Dolomites.

I totally loved this series when I was a kid... and still love it ❤️

🎥24 June 1981. Dolomites in Movies Series.

For Your Eyes Only, the 12th chapter of the iconic James Bond series, starring Roger Moore (as Bond), Carole Bouquet, Chaim Topol, Lynn-Holly Johnson and Julian Glover, was released internationally.

Filmed in various locations around the world, #Cortina d'Ampezzo, 30 minutes drive from #myhometown in the #Dolomites, was chosen for the amazing winter scenes.

Fun fact: thinking of today's Global Warming craze, that was a winter without snow ❄️ in Cortina d'Ampezzo and the producers had to pay for trucks to bring snow from nearby mountains, which was then dumped in the city's streets and on the ski, bob, and jumping slopes.

70 years ago, the first human beings (of course as far as we know) put their feet on the top of Karakorum 2 (#K2) in Pakistan, the Savage Mountain, the Unviolated Peak, the deadliest and most dangerous in the world, 8611 mt. high.

These human beings were part of an #Italy / Pakistan expedition of more than 100 climbers and porters.
Only 2 of them reached the top, #AchilleCompagnoni from #Lombardy #Alps and #LinoLacedelli from #Cortina D'Ampezzo, #Dolomites.
As always happend in these expeditions some lost their lives.
