πΌ23 March 1956. The revolution started here. Elvis Presley releases his first and eponymous album which goes straight up to #1 in the Billboard sales! It was the first time ever a Rock'n'Roll album peaked the USA charts. π€πΈπ
Rock'n'Roll as a music genre was already around before that, thanks to artists such as #LittleRichard, #ChuckBerry, #MuddyWaters, #GeneVincent, #BillHaley, #BuddyHolly and many more... but problably the new born "industry" needed and was eagerly waiting for a white, unspoiled, handsome and heterosexual guy to take rock'n'roll out of its niche and make it explode π£π₯ π₯
Elvis was everything perfect and met all the expectations for that moment, the boy all girls wanted, the son-in-law all mothers wanted, plus he was a really nice person and a natural born showman. He soon became The King of Rock'n Roll and the first international Rockstar!
I post a video of him on The Ed Sullivan Show some months later: USA (and the world) had never witnessed such a delirium in a live national TV program, we can hardly hear the music (Hound Dog from his first album) under the screams π³π£π£

πΌ10 June 1910. 111 years ago π³ Chester Arthur Burnett, one of the first blues singer with a rock style π€... and a legendary one, was born in White Station, Mississippi, USA.
He became worldwide known as Howlin' Wolf, a nickname gained for his powerful voice, imposing physic and stage presence, when he moved to Chicago in adulthood and became a protagonist of the Chicago blues scene along with #MuddyWaters and the likes.
He wrote many blues standards like "Spoonfool" or "Killing Floor", but I always choose his iconic number... Howlin' for my Darlin' ππ
As always if you have any favorite from "Mr. Wolf", post it in the Chat Roomππ

π Howlin' Wolf
60 years ago Chicago Bluesman Howlin' Wolf released his eponymous second album, mainly made of hit singles issued in previous years.
Most of the songs are written by #ChicagoBlues legend #WillieDixon, who along with #MuddyWaters and #HowlinWolf himself was crucial in shaping that distinctive blues sound.
This album is often referred as The Rockin' Chair Album from its cover photo and contains blues standards such as "Little Red Rooster" (later covered by #RollingStones), "Spoonful" (later covered by #Cream), "Back Door Man" and "Shake for Me" (later reprised by #LedZeppelin in their hit "Whole Lotta Love") and his trademark song "Howlin' for My Darlin".

55 years ago Steppenwolf from Los Angeles, #USA released their self-titled debut studio album.
#Steppenwolf was a great commercial success in the years, mainly thanks to its iconic songs "Born To Be Wild" and "The Pusher" which served as soundtrack to the 1969 milestone Easy Rider!
If some days earlier π Blue Cheer released perhaps the first Heavy Metal album, in Steppenwolf the term "Heavy Metal" was first used in a song (again "Born To Be Wild", one of the most covered songs ever) π€
This album also contains a cover of #MuddyWaters "Hoochie Coochie Man".
In this album:
#JohnKay β lead vocals, guitar, harmonica
#MichaelMonarch β guitars, backing vocals
#GoldyMcJohn β Hammond organ, piano, Wurlitzer electric piano
#RushtonMoreve β bass, backing vocals
#JerryEdmonton β drums, backing vocals
