🚀🌍 NASA has released footage of the Orion spacecraft's splashdown, declaring that the landing went "by the textbook."

➡️The live broadcast of the splashdown and the subsequent extraction of the crew raised many questions and even triggered profanity from commenters due to the extremely low video quality. Until the helicopters landed on the deck of the 'John P. Murtha' (which, in its size and markings, resembled an aircraft carrier more than an amphibious transport dock), NASA's 'live' video remained in appalling quality.

❔Contrary to protocol, Christina Koch was the first to be extracted from the capsule — just as she was the first to contact Houston after AOS and the first to reach Mission Control after splashdown, using nearly the same words: 'Houston, Integrity, comm check. It is so great to hear from Earth again.'
Spacecraft Commander Reid Wiseman replied: 'We have you loud and clear!'

According to @OC_Scanner, the crew's first words were: "INTEGRITY HOUSTON COMM CHECK COPIES LOUD AND CLEAR."

It's Interesting that the astronauts were evacuated from the raft individually by separate helicopters via cables. Lifting personnel one by one on a cable from an inflatable boat is the protocol for a "Dirty Recovery."

The possible reason is a helium leak through valves in the pressure line of the service module's oxidizer tank (nitrogen tetroxide) on Wednesday, April 8.
On that day, the Artemis II crew was supposed to take manual control of the Orion spacecraft and demonstrate maneuvers. Instead, mission managers decided to conduct additional propulsion system tests.

According to NASA Deputy Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya, the agency was aware of the helium leak in Orion even before the launch. A similar leak was observed during the uncrewed Artemis I flight in 2022.

However, the decision to proceed with the launch was made "because the full power of the propulsion system is not required for the Artemis II lunar flyby."

NASA admits that the helium leak may recur during Artemis III in 2027. This mission involves testing Orion's docking with a lunar landing craft in Earth orbit.

NASA, along with the European Space Agency and Airbus, intends to resolve the valve problem in the service module only by the Artemis IV mission (2028), which includes a landing on the lunar surface.

➡️ Even more curiously, about an hour before the actual splashdown, Google's AI (Gemini 3.1 Pro) was informing numerous users that "the Artemis II Orion spacecraft has already completed its flight" and that "the capsule successfully splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 20:07 ET." It was only after follow-up questions from surprised users — asking if the ship had indeed entered the atmosphere earlier than planned — that Google apologized, stating its "internal clock and timeline data had glitched." These consistently "predictive" (successfully prophetic) AI responses were recorded by many users well ahead of the official schedule.
