So What’s your #salary package? Laughingly asked my Aunt (whose son had got placed in TCS a month ago); I felt ashamed and mumbled: I didn't get a #Job via my college #placements; I am trying to start my own company. She laughed and nodded “ So, after all, You have brought #shame to your family once again.”

This was not the first time I, or many among you, would have faced such incidents where CBI-grade #Aunt Journalists poked their noses in your professional progress. (let me know if this happened to you?)

"𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘯." These words by Mahatma #Gandhi have always stayed with me, especially when reflecting on my journey toward achieving my goals.

I remember telling my aunt that I didn't get a job through college placement. She laughed and told me that I was on the wrong path because

“He is the Son of a Politician”
“He is the Son of a Rich Person; You are the son of a Clerk.”
"You are a Small towner."
“You can’t have such dreams.”
“You are a Girl Child; You can’t do this.”

How many times are we told such discouraging statements?

Yet many among us do not give in and fight back. But in the absence of a #Mentor somewhere, we are scared, afraid that if we do not listen to our elders, we will end up screwing up our lives.

Well, this happened to me: Growing up, I had big dreams of one day becoming an Astronaut just like Kalpana Chawla, but then Reality Hit us hard.

We chose #Biology, We chose #Medicine, We chose #Life #Sciences, and then we were told there was a Limitation now and we could never grow. I was told by my senior that “you have to accept the fact that you can only ever get a fixed #job as per the degree we did.”

I didn’t accept it. I want you also not to #accept it.

The #Mental #Infection:

When I was a child, I was told by one of my relatives that I should become a #doctor, then one of my father’s friends prescribed to me that I should target becoming a Government #IAS officer because I had administrative leadership abilities, growing up as a teenager I just wanted to be me and enjoy my #childhood, but these #mental #prescriptions by so-called well-wishers were hurting!! And that brings me to today’s topic: The Mental Infection

Imagine if you save the #weekend for yourself, for your personal growth.

To learn something new, something which excites you and will help you carve a better “You.”

We get 8 Weekends (Saturday+Sunday) every week and 96 Weekends every Year, which means we get 480 Days every five years.

How you utilize these 480 days in the next five years will determine where you will get to in the next ten years.

Have a beautiful Sunday, folks, and keep learning new things.

The whole Year, I kept telling you to do this, do that.

It becomes #overwhelming, right?

Well, today, I will tell you the scenarios in your career where #LESS is #MORE.

- #Specialization: Identify the Real #Passion and #Specialise in one; remember, no one is a jack of all; you have to be a master of One and develop a T Shaped #Personality.

- #Selective #Networking: Let's accept it; you can't attend every event happening, so choose what aligns with your #passion, #interest, and #ambition.



- #Quality: Most universities force you to publish as many papers as possible, but the truth is that declines the #quality of your #research. Instead, focus on quality, not #quantity.

- Simple, Clear #Communication: Whenever you are doing scientific research and scientific writing, use simple language and no complex #jargon

- Strategic #Job Applications: Applying for every job opening can be overwhelming and not productive. Focusing on applying for jobs that fit your #skills and #goals, and tailoring your application

“The world will reward us for the #value we create for them and not for the value we possess.”

You are feeling in a vacuum, in the worthless mode, because our education system added value to you but forgot to teach you how to create value for others. But unless you create value for others, you cannot create value for yourself and get out of this vaccum.

I was confused; I asked: So how do I add value to others?

“Well, it's very simple,” She exclaimed. At any point in time, we all are selling something to others: When we seek for #Job, We are selling a promise that our talent will bring value to them
When seeking an #entrepreneurial #venture, we sell a product or a service to a customer.

Now, how much value we add to our team will determine our value. It's all connected.

So there is no harm in feeling worthless, but we must know how to become useful to others and how to make them aware that you exist.

And how do I make others aware of that? I asked

Well, it's a 3 step simple process.

- Add #value to yourself by adding applied #knowledge, #skills, and #wisdom
- Make Others #aware that you exist and you have all the #qualities they seek - #Networking
- Deliver the value you promised by applying your #skillset.

You have to know this: The world is no smarter than you; they landed the Space ship on the #Moon in 1969, but till 1972, they were lifting their suitcases, and none of them realized we could attach the wheels to a suitcase and drag it easily. There is always a better way of doing things; all you have to do is figure it out and have the courage to execute it.

And this means there always exists some kind of gap in #society which you can fill; all you have to do is #Analyze the #demand and fill that gap with your #Skills, Thats the secret mantra to #success in this world.
