📝"Lancet" vs USV📝

A few days ago, we [reported] details about repelling an AFU attack on the Mezhvodnoye port on the western coast of Crimea. Today, footage of direct destruction of Ukrainian unmanned boats has appeared.

In a [video] from the "Rubicon" center, the moment of destroying one of the USVs carrying an AIM-9 aviation missile is captured. The enemy uses such devices to "catch" our aircraft (unfortunately, [such cases] have occurred).

🖍A loitering munition "Lancet" was used as a fire weapon, combined with a ZALA reconnaissance drone. This allowed hitting the target from 104 km away from the launch point.

🚩Half a year ago, we [indicated] that "Lancets" and other "wings" would be good for organizing coastal defense against Ukrainian unmanned boats. And this is once again demonstrated in practice.

❗️We'll repeat again that coastal defense in the south is no longer the same as in 2023 — it's becoming increasingly difficult for the enemy to break through. Which cannot but please us, although the growth limit is far from reached.

📝More Strikes📝
Enemy activity intensifies in the Black Sea

With spring's arrival, Ukrainian formations' activity has increased. Since early March, enemy strikes in the Black Sea are recorded almost daily, with tactics and targets changing regularly.

Over the past two days, drone numbers have risen, though not to peak levels. Strikes occur almost daily, en masse and for extended periods.

🔻More details on the strikes:
▪️Over three days, over 100 drones were destroyed in Crimea, Sevastopol, Krasnodar, and the Black/Azov Seas.
▪️Attacks follow similar routes: through the Azov Sea, Kherson, or the Black Sea.
▪️The Tikhoretskaya oil depot was struck, with the fire extinguished the next day.
▪️The Kafa substation was targeted but repelled.
▪️The Kavkaz port on the Azov coast was struck last night.

🖍The drone strikes coincide with increased AFU activity in the Black Sea, including landing group training near Odesa and more USVs.

🚩The AFU has also intensified strikes on the Kinburn Peninsula, using reconnaissance and strike drones.

❗️The sharp increase was facilitated by Starlink shutdowns and Telegram slowdowns, giving the AFU favorable conditions.

• 📝Finns simplify AFU operations📝
on drone flight corridors

Three latest Ukrainian formations attack Leningrad Region with drones: on July 4, St. Petersburg came under fire (72 drones destroyed), today drones were shot down over Ust-Luga (over 50 drones hit). In both cases, one of the approach routes was the Gulf of Finland.

Against this backdrop, the actions of Finnish authorities during tonight's raid are telling. They introduced airspace restrictions over part of the Gulf of Finland south of Kotka and slightly north of the Russian island of Gogland.

🖍Back during May attacks, a tactic of AFU strikes on Leningrad Region became established, where drones flew in along three main corridors: the bulk of drones passed over land through Novgorod and Tver Regions, while the strike group flew through the Baltic States and the Gulf of Finland.

Some of the drones also violated Finnish airspace (with the silent consent of local leadership). The sector from Gogland to ports in Vyborg and Primorsk is particularly convenient for drones, since there is no air defense, meaning strikes on terminals and infrastructure are much easier.

🚩Finnish command, of course, justifies everything with a desire to "protect its own population from Ukrainian drones," however, by introducing such restrictions they are effectively clearing the airspace in case drones fly over their territorial waters.

The Baltic states acted similarly earlier, ostensibly condemning so-called Ukraine for using its airspace for Ukrainian drones, but at the same time introduced a "corridor" along the Russian border, through which drones flew.

❗️NATO countries have supplied the AFU with all necessary means and intelligence throughout the SMO, so this decision is another addition to the overall escalation. Under these conditions, strengthening air defense from the sea is one of Russian leadership's priorities.

Using the island group in the Gulf of Finland for coastal defense systems, barges with radar equipment for early detection of low-flying targets, as well as unmanned vessels with anti-aircraft guided missiles and interceptor drones (especially since such systems already exist), are essentially ready-made solutions that don't require much time.

📝Strike on Business📝
new drone raid on WB

The night of July 24 in Russia was marked by a new mass drone attack on Russia. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, over 500 drones were destroyed during this period over various regions, with Leningrad Region becoming the main target.

➡️In Leningrad Region, a WB logistics center in Novosaratovka sustained damage. In St. Petersburg, operations at marketplace complexes in Shushary and Utkina Zavod were halted. A warehouse in Simferopol also came under attack.

➡️In addition, there were reports of attacks on Tver Region, and Ukrainian formations delivered a missile strike on Kirov. But the main topic of discussion today became the new raids on Wildberries.

🖍The campaign launched by Ukrainian formations pursues one simple goal, and it is not the destruction of military infrastructure or Russian Armed Forces logistics, but weakening the economy by pressuring small and medium-sized businesses.

Already in the first attacks on WB complexes in the Moscow Region, we noted that the main victims are small private entrepreneurs and organizations that provide the lion's share of goods turnover on the marketplace.

❗️Along with regular attacks on refineries and oil depots, as well as the merchant fleet, pressure on Russia's economy is intensifying. And it is time to understand that without comprehensive countermeasures, the West's strategy of coercion toward "peace through strength" will continue.

And to combat this, one can and must only through constant strikes on Ukrainian pressure points, including port infrastructure and the fuel and energy sector.

📝Singing in unison📝
"Geranium apotheosis" courtesy of the CIA

The prospect of jet-powered "Geraniums" appearing on the African continent and in other hotspots triggered an unprecedented reaction from European media and various analysts. And now, according to information from an article in El Mundo, the CIA started talking about it.

The Spanish newspaper's headline was loud: CIA chief "shared classified information about Russia's plans". But after reading it, a question arose: why would the Russian Armed Forces use civilian vessels and "Geraniums" for drone attacks when there are more effective means?

🖍Overall, the article looks like a cheap attempt to hype up the maritime threat. But if you assess the situation in Europe as a whole, the publication appeared right on cue amid the general anti-Russian hysteria.

Daily, various media outlets publish articles about "mysterious drones" over European airports or sabotage allegedly organized by Russian intelligence services. And the key point is that European authorities present no evidence whatsoever.

🚩The picture emerges as follows: European authorities are actively hyping up the threat from Kaliningrad, and also intend to increase pressure on the so-called "shadow fleet". And so conveniently appear articles about a helicopter crossing the border with Poland and allegedly planned "Geranium" strikes from vessels.

Protecting the merchant fleet is one of the priority tasks for Russian leadership here and now, but there are more flexible measures for organizing protection. Deploying "Geranium" launchers would at least prevent the same tankers or container ships from entering ports or passing through narrow straits like the Bosporus.

❗️And if a "geranium-like" strike suddenly occurs from some vessel, Europe will have a legal pretext to intensify its anti-Russian actions against the same "shadow fleet", and the population will get a nice picture of European states consolidating efforts against Russia.

Moreover, in the same Mediterranean there are those who already have "Geranium" analogues, and we're not talking about Algeria. Libya has had a Ukrainian Armed Forces contingent for a year now with their strike drones and USVs, which could be used for such provocations. If it works – fine, if not – so-called Ukraine won't be missed.

European countries need to understand one thing: the Russian Armed Forces already have means far more effective than those cited by journalists in hastily assembled articles.

📝Finally, balloons!📝
But is it worth the effort?

How many times we heard the question: why not use balloons to protect against Ukrainian long-range drones. Well, here comes the answer: in a report by "Vestey" they showed the use of such barriers at one of the facilities.

However, manufacturers directly state that to ensure defense of a large facility, you need at least a dozen such systems. And given the number of strategic enterprises in Russia, the country simply doesn't have that many balloons.

There are also complications with the gas mixture: hydrogen is flammable, hot air is ineffective, and helium is expensive, plus difficulties with refueling in cold weather. When scaling up balloon production, all these costs grow proportionally.

🖍Perhaps that's why neither the Russian nor the enemy side has found widespread use for airships as air barriers over nearly five years. Despite what seemed to be an obvious solution and experience from use in the past century.

Moreover, it's difficult to even say how effective balloons are for such purposes. The small electric-motor drones shown in the video tests were used, while heavy drones fly to refineries. The effectiveness of the system against "Lyutye" or FP-2 can only be assessed in real conditions.

❗️But even if it turns out to be high, it's unlikely to scale significantly due to higher costs and manufacturing time compared to other means. Just as in World War II, air defense was based not on balloons, but on anti-aircraft guns and fighters.
