FBL-EUR-C1-LIVERPOOL-REAL MADRIDPhoto by OLI SCARFF/AFP via Getty ImagesThe transfer is in its final stages. The announcement is expected tomorrow. This is not a huge update since the transfer has basically been confirmed for a couple days now, but Bayern Munich target Sadio Mane has arrived in Germany for his medical. Reporter Florian Plettenberg, who was the first to report on the Mane story, spotted the Liverpool star exiting a small private jet with his entourage. Here’s the video from Plettenberg:Update #Mané: 11.26 am. Welcome to Munich, Sadio Mané! @SkySports pic.twitter.com/kacHh5vKng— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) June 21, 2022Note the special red Audi — Bayern always uses it to ferry new signings when they first arrive in Munich. It must be a clause in the sponsorship contract. Anyway, the Audi was there to receive Mane on the tarmac. He’ll probably move on to the Sabener Strasse for his medical. With almost all the details of the transfer already confirmed, the actual medical itself should only be a formality at this point. It would be followed by the contract signing and a photoshoot, where Mane will be pictured with the Bayern Munich jersey as well as his new shirt number — after all, the #10 he wears for Liverpool and the Senegalese NT is already held by Leroy Sane at Bayern.Don’t expect a formal announcement until tomorrow, unless some social media admin gets itchy fingers and accidentally leaks the posts. We did see that happen during the Leroy Sane saga. The earliest fans can expect to catch a glimpse of Mane in Bayern red is during preseason next month. I, for one, cannot wait!

Championship celebration FC Bayern MunichPhoto by Matthias Balk/picture alliance via Getty ImagesPressure had been mounting on Bayern’s front office, but bringing Sadio Mane in has set the tone for this summer. With the amount of players at Bayern Munich that had to have their contracts negotiated coming into this summer’s transfer window, pressure was consistently mounting on the club’s front office to get things done. Namely, the pressure was on Hasan Salihamidzic, Oliver Kahn and Herbert Hainer as the trio who are primarily responsible for transfers and contract situations. They were able to tie down Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Kingsley Coman, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller to new deals, but it does look increasingly likely that Robert Lewandowski will leave for FC Barcelona this summer, while Serge Gnabry’s situation still remains uncertain at this juncture. After tying down transfers for AFC Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch, Bayern just last week confirmed that they would be signing Sadio Mane from Liverpool as the club’s marquee signing of the summer window. He’s set to be officially unveiled as a Bayern Munich player this week at the Allianz Arena after the completion of his medical. In the wake of the Mane move being confirmed, Hainer took the opportunity to remind Bayern fans that the club’s front office is doing their job, knowing very well the public pressure that’s been mounted on them for the better part of the past nine months. Of course, some of Bayern’s poor performances on the pitch last season didn’t make matters any better, highlighted be their exits from both the DFB-Pokal and Champions League. “As you can see, we’re delivering,” Hainer bluntly stated, as per Abendzeitung’s Julian Buhl.Herbert Hainer will sich (noch) nicht konkret zum gelungenen Transfercoup des #FCBayern mit Sadio #Mané äußern, sagt aber auf AZ-Nachfrage: „Sie sehen ja, dass wir liefern!“ @Abendzeitung— Julian Buhl (@julianbuhl) June 19, 2022Herbert Hainer does not (yet) want to comment specifically on the successful transfer coup of #FCBayern with Sadio #Mané , but says when asked by AZ: “You can see that we deliver!” @AbendzeitungFor now, the Mane transfer will certainly take some heat off of Bayern’s front office, but there’s still the proverbial elephant in the room of figuring out just what, exactly, will wind up happening with Lewandowski. It was Hainer himself that recently said “a contract is a contract” and questioned “where are we going if a player can end his contract early?” These comments were not taken very well by Lewandowski or his agent, Pini Zahavi and it’s since been reported that, in addition to his public comments stating his desire to leave Bayern this summer, he’d be willing to go as far as going on strike during Bayern’s preseason in July to force his move to Barcelona.

Liverpool Travel to Amsterdam for their Champions League TiePhoto by Andrew Powell/Liverpool FC via Getty ImagesMane is in Munich and the deal is just about OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL.Sadio Mane is in Munich!Upon the completion of his medical and all of the paperwork being sorted out and finalized, the Senegalese attacker will officially be a Bayern Munich player, completing his transfer from Liverpool in the Premier League. It’s a deal that’s been in the works for the better part of the past two months, at least as far as the general public is concerned, but some reports have suggested that Mane had his heart set on leaving Liverpool as early as this past January. The move is a massive statement for the Bundesliga as a whole as a high profile player with a proven pedigree in Europe is joining the league. Far too often, the German top flight winds up losing its top talents to either La Liga or the Premier League once they become highly sought after transfer targets.Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, in consultation with manager Julian Nagelsmann, was a chief architect of getting Mane to join Bayern. The sporting director has come under intense scrutiny in recent times for his perceived lack of high caliber activity in the transfer market, but bringing Mane to Bayern is certainly something that’s going to help him have a better chance of getting a contract renewal at the club as his current contract as sporting director expires next summer.Brazzo was delighted to finally see Mane in Munich ahead of the transfer becoming official and loved how well he’s already fitting in. “The first day went well. Sadio feels comfortable, his closest friends and agent are there as well. We are happy and proud that we were able to bring such a great player and world star to Munich,” he explained as per @iMiaSanMia on Twitter. “Sadio is arriving at the peak of his career, at a great age, is in great shape and has a thirst for titles – he’s at the right club for that,” he added. He was already spotted taking photographs with fans in the streets of Munich with a beaming smile on his face, illustrating the excitement of the start of a new chapter in his footballing career.#Mané im #FCBayern-Shirt. @mano_bonke pic.twitter.com/er6Vhe7FUk— Philipp Kessler (@kessler_philipp) June 21, 2022

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool - UEFA Champions LeaguePhoto by Erwin Spek/Soccrates/Getty ImagesThis is one of the biggest transfers Bayern Munich have made in recent years. It’s finally official! After a tense back and forth between the two clubs, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have come to an agreement for the signing of Senegal star Sadio Mane. The timely deal means that the forward will join Julian Nagelsmann and the rest of the squad in preseason this summer, before the club embarks on the 2022-23 season.Sadio Mane signs a three year contract that will keep him at the club until 2025. Here is the official announcement on the club Twitter accounts:Servus, Sadio #Mané! ⚪

Liverpool FC v Real Madrid - UEFA Champions League Final 2021/22Photo by Etsuo Hara/Getty ImagesThis could be one of our best transfers of this decade. It’s finally a done deal! Sadio Mané has transferred to Bayern Munich from Liverpool under a three year contract, until 2025.Mané seems extremely positive about the proceedings of the transfer. “I’m very happy to finally be with FC Bayern in Munich. We had a lot of talks and I felt the great interest of this big club from the start. So there was no doubt in my mind right from the start: This is the right time for this challenge.”Servus, Sadio #Mané! ⚪

https://t.co/8Nf1NwB26l#ServusMané #MiaSanMia— FC Bayern München (@FCBayern) June 22, 2022The expectations for a player like Mané are obvious: to take the club to the highest level with his performances. He seems to already embody the Mia san Mia mentality, as he expressed his desire for success with Bayern and also went on to showcase his deep-rooted admiration for the club. “I want to achieve a lot with this club. During my time in Salzburg I followed many FC Bayern games — I like this club very much!”The headliner of this transfer, the MVP, Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić, held Mane at high acclaim, stating, “With Sadio Mané, an international top star is coming to FC Bayern, who has left his mark on world football. We are proud to have brought him to Munich. In our conversations, Sadio made it clear from the first minute that he only wanted to play for Bayern.”Praising Mané’s qualities, he said, “Everyone knows his outstanding qualities and incredible mentality. He will give a lot to our team and support them. The fact that he’s joining FC Bayern shows that he and our club have big goals.”Finally, “Sadio Mané fits in perfectly with the football that FC Bayern plays under Julian Nagelsmann.”, declared Brazzo.CEO Oliver Kahn chimed in on the transfer, expressing his delight in having bagged Mané, “We are happy that we were able to sign Sadio Mané for FC Bayern. Thanks to his outstanding performances and his great success at the top international level, he has been a very unique and special player”He further asserted his confidence in Mané , “We are convinced that Sadio Mané will give our fans a lot of joy with his spectacular play style in the years to come. He’s ambitious and keen to win more titles. This package is very, very strong. With players like him, all big goals are possible at FC Bayern.”Lastly, president Herbert Hainer praised not only Mané but also the board for having clinched the transfer. “Sadio Mané is a world star who proves the attractiveness of FC Bayern and the Bundesliga. It’s for such unique footballers that fans come to the stadiums. It’s great that our board, led by Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić, were able to sign a player like Sadio.”Still looking for MORE reactions to the Sadio Mane transfer? FC Bayern Muenchen Unveils New Signing Sadio ManePhoto by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty ImagesDoes this mean anything for pending transfers? Probably not.Sadio Mane has chosen the new number he will wear at Bayern Munich, and it’s not exactly a standard pick. As confirmed via press release today evening, the former Liverpool FC striker will wear the #17 from next season onward. Jerseys with Mane’s name and the number 17 will be available on the club’s official stores from Tuesday. Here is the official announcement of Mane’s pick:Sadio #Mané beim #FCBayern mit Rückennummer 1️⃣7️⃣.

https://t.co/j4VL4hqRo5#ServusMané #MiaSanMia— FC Bayern München (@FCBayern) June 26, 2022You can tell that he basically chose something randomly, because the press release is as short as it gets. They really could not find anything to say about this news. Doubtless, Bayern would rather forget the last player to wear the #17 at the club. This is a stark departure from the #10 that Mane is used to wearing for Liverpool and the Senegalese National Team, but the change was necessary because that number is already held by Leroy Sane at Bayern. Sane’s father claimed earlier in the week that his son would give up the kit number if necessary, but it didn’t come to pass. Had he taken the #10, Mane would’ve been following in the footsteps of Arjen Robben, another iconic winger who wore the jersey for Bayern Munich. This also ends speculation that Mane could receive either the #7 or #9 if Serge Gnabry or Robert Lewandowski were to move on this summer. However, that doesn’t mean that either player is guaranteed to stay. The market is open and their moves will be made of Mane’s kit number choices.Interested in further discussion of the impact of the Sadio Mane transfer? Look no further than our podcast! In this special edition reaction show, we talked about everything from the impact of his signing on the club’s finances, to where he could play on the pitch. Listen to it below or at this link.

SV Werder Bremen v FC Bayern Muenchen - BundesligaPhoto by M. Donato/FC Bayern via Getty ImagesTo spend money, you have to make money first.Departures are in order in Bayern Munich. As per the reports from Sky Sport journalists Marc Behrenbeck and Florian Plettenberg, Bayern are planning more player sales in this summer to raise transfer funds. Bayern have already made €24m from selling Omar Richards, Marc Roca and some academy players and they will be looking to gather some more money. After already spending €51m in fixed transfer fees for Sadio Mane and Ryan Gravenberch, Bayern Munich are in advanced talks to sign Matthijs de Ligt. The Juventus defender will reportedly cost around €70-80m, a very hefty fee for the German Champions. So, to raise some money, Bayern are willing to sell one or more ‘big name’ players. The players in the reported sale list are:Robert Lewandowski: "Robert has a contract until 2023 and he will fulfil it, BASTA"?Serge Gnabry: The German is yet to agree to a new contract, so selling him now would not seem unrealistic.Benjamin Pavard: Pavard has been coy on his future for some time now. Atletico Madrid and Juventus have shown interest in the Frenchman.Marcel Sabitzer: So far, the Austrian has struggled to establish himself in the club. And with Bayern seemingly plotting a move for Konrad Laimer, Sabitzer could end up leaving. His agent seems to disagree though.Joshua Zirkzee: After returning from an impressive loan spell in R.S.C. Anderlecht, Zirkzee could leave to get more first-team minutes. Newcastle and Ajax are interested.Kicker journalist Georg Holzner also seems to agree with this. The fact that FC Bayern is currently arranging the second top transfer without reaching financial limits is also due to the fact that (well-known) departures are planned for this summer, which should bring a lot of money.Bayern Munich could look very different at the end of this transfer window. While Bayern <em>is</em> still linked with Rennes’ Mathys Tel, he’s only 17 years of age and not quite ready to replace a seasoned veteran on his own.As far as incoming transfers, Bayern’s efforts are still centered on <a href="https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com">Juventus</a> and Netherlands center back Matthijs de Ligt. Sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić was recently in Turin to negotiate a deal between the two clubs. Brazzo told journalists that felt the talks had gone well, and it certainly seems like the De Ligt topic will consume much of Bayern’s remaining attention — and resources — for this transfer window.Mané, meanwhile, is the man of the hour after arriving in a blockbuster deal from <a href="https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/">Liverpool</a>, and Serge Gnabry is <a href="https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com/2022/7/14/23218818/bayern-munich-report-serge-gnabry-new-deal-transfer-rumors-chelsea-extension-brazzo-salihamidzic">on the verge of extending his stay</a> in Munich. It’s a system that works very well with the group they’ve got, but the dynamic has always been a bit different at Bayern, which has for so long been used to having a natural striker in the squad. Different managers at Bayern have experimented with different systems, all of which are striker-centric.Gnabry, for both Germany and Bayern, <em>has</em> played as Bayern’s most advanced central attacker on numerous occasions before, but much like Mané, he’s arguably better on one of the wings and shouldn’t be relied upon as the sole striker. The idea…
FC Augsburg v FC Bayern München - BundesligaPhoto by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty ImagesJulian Nagelsmann shuffles the deck in an apparent bid to bring the best out of the star Senegalese forward. Are things alright for Sadio Mané at Bayern Munich? The dynamic do-everything forward arrived from Liverpool this summer in a rich vein of form, but has endured a drought in goal production since then. The bosses in charge appear to be trying everything they can to get him firing again, deploying him in two straight games — against FC Barcelona in the Champions League and FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga — on the left wing.Reportedly, that move could be permanent, which would have significant ramifications for Bayern's attacking structure. From kicker's Georg Holzner:Sadio #Mane is now seen more as a winger at @fcbayern. Just like at the best of times in #Liverpool. Those in charge give him time.A remarkable scene: During the half-time break in Augsburg, Manuel #Neuer hugged Mané and talked to him.Mané hasn't exactly played poorly through this drought — the latter parts of which he hasn't had striker partner Serge Gnabry alongside him — but nonetheless the move may help unlock something else in his game.It might also create a crowded situation at wing, where Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané still play and may have to vie for time — on the right side of the formation. Meanwhile, the move could shift Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala not only inside, but into the tip of the attacking line, where they were employed against Barça.It may also afford greater opportunities to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as the team's lone box striker option up top, as well as open up chances for the fearless youngster Mathys Tel — who has also been deployed largely on the wings to date, but has never been shy to shoot.Encouraging signs, or worrying? Is Julian Nagelsmann tinkering too much again? Does this cast Bayern's big transfer window in a different light? Sound off in the comments below.

FC Bayern München v Sport-Club Freiburg - BundesligaPhoto by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty ImagesMane had plenty of praise for his teammate for his role in Bayern’s dismantling of SC Freiburg.Bayern Munich leapfrogged SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga table with their thoroughly convincing 5-0 victory over them at the Allianz Arena, and the score line perhaps even flatters Christian Streich just a bit. Bayern very easily could’ve scored more than five goals, but Julian Nagelsmann can be delighted with the fact that there were five different goal scorers on the night; Serge Gnabry, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Leroy Sane, Sadio Mane and Marcel Sabitzer.Rotations based on injuries, suspensions, and resting some players ahead of the DFB-Pokal clash against FC Augsburg saw Nagelsmann field a starting attacking four of Choupo-Moting as the lone striker with Sane, Mane, and Gnabry behind him. It was the first time we’d seen this sort of starting lineup from Bayern so far this season, but it worked wonders against Freiburg.Speaking after the big win, Mane had high praise for Choupo-Moting, who did exceptionally well to spin his defender in Freiburg’s box after controlling Sane’s outside of the foot pass to slot one past Mark Flekken and make it 2-0 to Bayern. “What a player! He played well for us and was a big part of our win today. He fights a lot, wins almost all of his duels. He’s good at hitting the balls. A fantastic game from him,” he told Tz’s Philipp Kessler.#Mané über #ChoupoMoting: „Was für ein Spieler! Er hat gut für uns gespielt, hat heute einen großen Anteil an unserem Sieg. Er kämpft viel, gewinnt fast alle seine Zweikämpfe. Er kann die Bälle gut festmachen. Ein fantastisches Spiel von ihm.“ #FCBSCF #FCBayern— Philipp Kessler (@kessler_philipp) October 16, 2022He did have injury problems that kept him out of most of the beginning of the season thus far, but Choupo-Moting has still only made a total of eight appearances for Bayern thus far this season. Most of the aforementioned appearances have been as a substitute, as the start against Freiburg was his first start of the season. Despite not having a plethora of minutes under his belt, he’s still proven his worth, scoring twice and assisting once from his appearances, carrying on in the same vein as he had when most often serving as a backup to Robert Lewandowski.

Bayern Munich - 1. FC Union Berlin Photo by Sven Hoppe/picture alliance via Getty Images This would be a good time for Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to have a chat. According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Real Madrid is contemplating making a move for Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mané: #RealMadrid are evaluating the situation of Sadio #Mané, as possible reinforcement in the summer transfer session. #RMCF The (Senegal) left-winger has a contract with #BayernMunich expiring in 2025.The price tag set by the club is at around €25/30m. This news comes at a very interesting time as Bayern Munich is working to re-shape its roster and could sell as many as three wingers during the summer transfer window. According to recent reports, Mané, Leroy Sané, and Serge Gnabry could transfer away in the coming weeks, which could bring Bayern Munich some extra revenue as it looks to add several players for next season. Mané’s 2022/23 campaign was marred by a locker room altercation with former manager Julian Nagelsmann, a fight with Sané, way too many offside calls, and a general state of inconsistency. A change of scenery might be just what the Senegal international needs.

Brazil v Senegal - International Friendly Photo by Joao Rico/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Is this the end for Sadio Mané? According to a report from Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, there are as many as three clubs interested in Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mané. Galetti also stated that Mané would consider a move away from Bavaria to Saudi Arabia, where Al Nassr is rumored to want the Senegalese attacker. After a tumultuous season with Bayern Munich, a change could be a good idea for the 31-year-old to get a fresh start: ️ Sadio #Mane, 3 clubs are in contact with the #BayernMunich player.

The left-winger considers the idea of landing to the Saudi League an option to be evaluated.

↩️ The club is open to hearing proposals to let him go: evolving situation. ⚽ #Transfers pic.twitter.com/VA9UY43Tv5— Rudy Galetti (@RudyGaletti) July 4, 2023However, not everyone is aligned on Mané’s desire to move to Saudi Arabia. Liverpool.com captured a report from the Daily Mail regarding Mané’s status and it seems as if the veteran might not be willing to make the jump to Saudi Arabia — even for a boatload of cash: Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mané is being targeted by clubs in Saudi Arabia this summer but he is unlikely to be willing to move there, according to the Daily Mail.Bayern Munich would be happy to let the player leave after a disappointing and injury-stricken debut campaign in Germany, with the Bundesliga giant willing to cash in.Jordan Henderson and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, though, the same report states, could be two of Steven Gerrard’s first targets as Al-Ettifaq boss after he was appointed at the Saudi Pro League club.Should Bayern Munich find a way to move Mané in the coming weeks, it would allow the flexibility to make a move for a player like Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, who has recently been linked to the Bavarians. 1. FC Köln v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Corbis via Getty Images Will the former Liverpool star be one-and-done in Bavaria after all? Another twist, another saga. While Bayern Munich try to pry Harry Kane away from Tottenham, they may be also trying to push one of their own forwards, Sadio Mané, out the door. Per a report from kicker’s Georg Holzner:Sadio #Mane, as @kicker learned, has already been informed internally that the club is no longer planning to work with him in the coming season. The Senegalese is expected to leave the #fcbayern in this transfer window. For Bayern, it’s also about saving Mané’s salary.Mané has been the subject of speculation over a move to Saudi Arabia already this summer, but both the player and his representatives have consistently denied this — and emphasized Mané’s desire to continue in Germany and prove himself to Thomas Tuchel and the bosses. But with a huge transfer spend and salary potentially landing on the ledger, Mané may not have demonstrated enough in his first season. His pre-World Cup injury and the subsequent coaching and system change from Julian Nagelsmann may have further landed his place in jeopardy. Mané remains a marvelous player, who at his peak was a joy to watch. But Bayern look to be moving in a different direction at striker, and are well-stocked on the wings (Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané just for starters). It would be a shame to see things end this way — and it could get very awkward indeed if Mané, still under contract for two years, does not assent to a move. Can’t get enough transfer talk? Kawasaki Frontal v Bayern Muenchen - Preseason Friendly Photo by Masashi Hara/Getty Images Bayern Munich is about to turn the page on the former Liverpool star and current Bavarian bust. According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich is set to make the sale of much maligned attacker Sadio Mané to Al Nassr official, upon the Senegalese international passing his physical on Monday in Dubai. The move will close the Bayern Munich chapter of Mané’s career, which was wholly unfulfilling at best and massively disappointing at worst. The bright side of this entire ordeal for the Bavarians is that Al Nassr is set to pay the German Rekordmeister €28 to €30 million for Mané, which is a terrific fee for a player who was wildly inconsistent last season on the field and disruptive in the locker room: News #Mané: Final transfer fee confirmed: €28-30m with possible bonus payments included ✅

Mané will pass his medical on Monday in Dubai as reported. @SkySportDE https://t.co/zG5O07YMpN— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) July 30, 2023If you are looking for a more indepth dive into Sadio Mané’s exit and what that might mean for Bayern Munich’s winger group moving forward, check out our Weekend Warm-up Podcast on Spotify or below.
