SL Benfica v Bayern Munchen - Group E - UEFA Champions LeaguePhoto by Gualter Fatia/Getty ImagesAgent Struth confirms that talks regarding Süle’s departure are yet to take place.Rumors linking Bayern Munich’s Niklas Süle to Newcastle United have been making headlines in the last few days. SportBild’s Christian Falk most recently branded the rumors “true” as talks between the player’s management and the Premiership side were believed to have taken place.Although putting an end to all the noise regarding the same, Süle’s agent Volker Struth has confirmed that there has been no contact with Newcastle United – or any other club, for that matter – yet. So, “false”?Florian Plettenberg shared bits from his conversation with Struth on the Friday edition of the MeineBayernWoche podcast on Twitter. Struth commented on what lies ahead for the central defender in the coming weeks. He said, “Of course, we have to get into a decision-making process now. There’s no final decision yet. Everything is open. Will he extend? Niklas has to decide that. My job is to get information and give it to the player. Talks are needed for information and they will take place in the next few weeks. Niklas will tell us what he wants and if the talks fell through, we will have to talk to other clubs at some point. It was the same with Toni Kroos back then.”Update #Süle: No talks with @NUFC! Extend or move abroad? Everything is still open right now but his management wants to turn into a decision making process soon. More about it this Friday in #MeineBayernWoche with his agent Volker Struth. @SPORT1 #NUFC— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) November 4, 2021Struth explained that the Newcastle rumors could only be translated as the by-product of the Saudi takeover. “No, there were no talks [with Newcastle]. And regarding Newcastle United, an investor took over there that allegedly makes them the richest club in the world, so there will be rumors every week. Now it’s Süle, soon maybe Coman or even Haaland”, said the agent.(Quotes via @iMiaSanMia on Twitter)

While we were gone, Bayern Munich concluded the winter break and came back to a disastrous Covid-19 situation at the club. Up to TEN players tested positive before the game against Borussia Monchengladbach, which the team ended up losing 2-1 to start off the new year. Not great, all things considered — but it did give us a lot to talk about. In this episode, Ineednoname and Schnitzel discuss:The crazy situation with Covid-19 at the club, and how Julian Nagelsmann has coped. Were the players who tested positive (guys like Lucas Hernandez, Manuel Neuer, etc.) irresponsible by going abroad during vacation? Why was Bayern hit so hard by Covid?Another tangent on the state of the Bundesliga, stemming from frustration with how Gladbach play.Moving onto our main topic — has Marcel Sabitzer been a flop at Bayern Munich?Schnitzel gives an impassioned defense of the Austrian. INNN is unmoved. The problem(s) with Sabitzer so far.Schnitzel and INNN’s first argument of the year.Closing thoughts on the Sabitzer issue — what does he need to do to be accepted?A final quick look at the nominees…

Newcastle are open to selling the 33-year-old as they look to generate additional revenue to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) Rules. The hang up in the talks between Bayern Munich and PSG appears to be that Bayern Munich only wants Mukiele on loan, while PSG wants an outright sale. Sky Sport journalists Kerry Hau and Florian Plettenberg added more context to the reports as well: Auf der Suche nach einem neuen Rechtsverteidiger hat der FC Bayern Kieran Trippier (33/Newcastle United) auf dem Zettel. Newcastle United v Nottingham Forest - Premier League Photo by MI News/NurPhoto via Getty Images Will Bayern Munich get its man? According to Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), there has been a “breakthrough” in talks between Bayern Munich and Newcastle United for right-back Kieran Trippier. This comes just a day after reports circulated in England that Trippier was going to stay put: There was a breakthrough in the negotiations for Kieran Trippier. Bayern bosses are now very optimistic they will be able to complete the deal. A final decision will be made today as Bayern are pushing.Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope provided an update on Monday that painted a bleak picture for Bayern Munich: ❌ Understand Newcastle have rejected a loan approach AND permanent approach from Bayern Munich for Kieran Trippier over the weekend

⚫️ Stance remains that he will not be sold this window #nufc— Craig Hope (@CraigHope_DM) January 22, 2024However, @iMiaSanMia did capture a report later from the Daily Mail stating that the Bavarians were not giving up on Trippier: Bayern are expected to have another go at tempting Newcastle United to sell Kieran Trippier before the week is out. The German club are aware that Newcastle are at their financial fair play limit and are seeking to take advantage. Newcastle have already rejected a loan and a ‘lowball offer’ from Bayern for the defender, who is keen on the move but won’t force his way out.It appears that the persistence — and probably an improved offer — might have pushed the two sides to talk once more. Chelsea v Newcastle United - Carabao Cup Quarter Final Photo by Visionhaus/Getty Images Back to the drawing board? Maybe there was not a breakthrough afterall. According to a report from David Ornstein of The Athletic, Newcastle United has rejected a bid from Bayern Munich for right-back Kieran Trippier. If true (and there is no reason to think that it is false), this would be another — at least temporary — setback for the Bavarians during this transfer window: Newcastle United have rejected latest bid from Bayern Munich for Kieran Trippier. Proposal was for permanent transfer worth €15m. #NUFC have been adamant right-back is staying + 33yo will respect their decision but #FCBayern keep pushing @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/MvHwG24GoB— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) January 23, 2024It is a little shocking that Bayern Munich bid €15 million for a 33-year-old right-back, but it does show how desperate the club is to add depth at the position. Trippier is experienced and could not only add depth to the roster spot, but also could potentially usurp the starting position from Noussair Mazraoui, whose hold on the spot has been tenuous at times this season. Luke Edwards of The Telegraph thinks that Bayern Munich will come back to the negotiating table one more time: As revealed by @TeleFootball and @TheAthleticFC on Sunday. Kieran Trippier is not for sale. Bayern Munich are trying big club flex with a 2nd bid they knew would be rejected in hope it would unsettle player enough to push for move. He told #nufc over weekend he wants to stay — Luke Edwards (@LukeEdwardsTele) January 23, 2024I’m fully expecting there to be a third very public bid before the close of the window! If they get above £20m I reckon they’ve got a chance — Luke Edwards (@LukeEdwardsTele) January 23, 2024As of now, Konrad Laimer will continue to hold down the fort at right-back until Mazraoui returns from international duty with Morocco. A telling part of this pursuit is Bayern Munich’s willingness to give Trippier a permanent contract. With Josip Stanišić due to come back from his loan at Bayer Leverkusen after this season, the pursuit of Trippier and Paris Saint-Germain’s Nordi Mukiele might be giving a hint on what Bayern Munich thinks of Stanišić’s prospects long-term.

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa - Premier League Photo by Alex Davidson/Getty Images Looks like replacements for Coman and Gnabry are on the way. According to a report by David Ornstein of The Athletic (so, basically 100% true), Bayern Munich have contacted Crystal palace over the possibility of signing French winger Michael Olise. The 22-year-old scored 10 goals and registered six assists in the Premier League last season, despite ~1,200 minutes due to repeated hamstring injuries. Newcastle United are also in the mix. Newcastle United + Bayern Munich contact Crystal Palace over possibility of signing Michael Olise. #NUFC & #FCBayern expressed interest on Wednesday before Chelsea today. All sought permission to speak with 22yo France youth winger’s camp @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/O1NhA9r5YA— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) June 13, 2024According to Matt Law of the Telegraph, Chelsea are also interested in the winger, but a transfer may not be straightforward. The player has a £60m release clause in his contract, but apparently it’s only valid for Champions League clubs. Neither Chelsea nor Newcastle can boast CL football for the upcoming season, giving Bayern Munich a major advantage in the race. Still, £60m for a 22-year-old with a spotty injury record — that might be pushing it, even for Bayern. The club is known to be searching for new wingers, to replace the flagging output of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. Michael Olise is the first “big name” linked with the club this summer, with most rumors so far centered around Stuttgart winger Chris Führich. Will Max Eberl and Christoph Freund get this one over the line? Is this why Bayern Munich are allegedly ready to sell Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Kimmich? Given that Ornstein’s report only says that Bayern Munich have asked “permission” to speak to the player, things are still in the very early stages.

Sport-Club Freiburg v Eintracht Frankfurt - Bundesliga Photo by Sebastian El-Saqqa - firo sportphoto/Getty Images Will Dino Toppmöller’s side lose another star forward in less than a year? There are clubs who have already signalled they would be willing to pay more. #SGEEintracht Frankfurt is trying to balance getting as much as it can for Ekitiké vs. having a team that compete in the Champions League. FC Bayern München Portraits - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by Alex Livesey - FIFA/FIFA via Getty Images Bayern Munich has irons in the fire... Action expected in coming weeks between Palhinha, Spurs (GiveMeSport)Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich have done some good business together of late and more could be on the way. In recent reports, Tottenham has been linked to Bayern Munich midfielderJoão Palhinha and it seems like Spurs could be inclined to make a move for Palhinha in the coming weeks — just do not expect them to rush into it: Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha over a summer transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.Spurs have had a relatively quiet start to the transfer window compared to their fellow ‘Big Six’ clubs. With Mohammed Kudus through the door, and the young Japanese defender, Kota Takai, signing on the dotted line, that completes the north London side’s transfer business so far.Alongside the loan deals for Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel becoming permanent, the Lilywhites are now awaiting their next incoming. That player that looked to be Morgan Gibbs-White, but a move that has since stalled due to legal issues, it appears Spurs will now turn their attention to Palhinha, having contacted the Portuguese player’s camp.Hoping to bolster in the middle of the park, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Frank’s side have ‘genuine interest’ in Palhinha, who has been described as ‘world-class’, and have made an initial approach to his camp to discuss a move.Šeško to NUFC? (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)RB Leipzig has recently lowered the asking price on star striker Benjamin Šeško and Newcastle United’s interest is piqued: ⚫️⚪️ Newcastle and Benjamin #Sesko’s camp are in concrete talks, with RB Leipzig informed. However, there is still no verbal agreement. But Newcastle/Sesko working on it. #NUFC have had Sesko on their radar since 2022. Let’s see what happens in the coming days and weeks. So far, Leipzig have not received any offer for Sesko. Leipzig are demanding €80–100 million.Plettenberg’s last note there runs counter to other reports, which say that €70 million is the asking price for the Slovenian. If — somehow — the price really is €70 million, Bayern Munich could potentially be lured into taking a look at a player we know the club likes. Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 53 (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich’s summer action is heating up after a lull and a move or two could be on the horizon. Let’s catch up on all of it on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show: €75 million might be Bayern’s magic number for Liverpool’s Luis Diaz — and we think we finally know why we have been feeling so iffy about the situation. Bayern made its last bid on Nick Woltemade, which could still fall short of the mark. If that fails...who’s next? Maybe of three Red Bull-related players. Are we headed into an era of stability at Bayern Munich? Despite rumors of disconnect, there could be a pathway forward to structure. Ortega leaving Man City? (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has some suitors: Three Premier League clubs pushing for Stefan #Ortega, while #Fenerbahce are also in concrete talks. A move to Burnley has fallen through for now. A summer departure for Ortega this summer is becoming increasingly likely. The reason: Ederson is set to stay, and James Trafford is joining. #MCFC @SkySportDEFélix back to Benfica? RB Leipzig v VfB Stuttgart - 1. Bundesliga Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images Will RB Leipzig keep its start striker? According to a report from transfer journalist Nicolò Schira, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško has reached an agreement Newcastle United on personal terms. The two clubs, however, would need to come to accord on a transfer fee: Benjamin #Sesko has an agreement in principle with #Newcastle for a contract until 2030. #NUFC are now working to reach a deal with #Leipzig. #transfersNot so fast, though. Other reports indicate that no agreement has been reached and that talks are still ongoing: Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano⚪️⚫️ Newcastle and Benjamin Šesko, talks ongoing as revealed days ago and this remains the situation as of today……next week, more to follow. ⤵️Sky Germany’s Philipp Hinze⚫️ Newcastle United have now entered into negotiations with Benjamin Sesko’s agents. The club and the player’s camp are in talks. Despite other reports, there is, according to our information, no fundamental verbal agreement yet. However, the Magpies are seriously pushing! Should an agreement be reached, Newcastle will then approach RB Leipzig. They continue to demand a package of around €80 million. @SkySportDESky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg ⤵️ There is currently no agreement between Newcastle and Benjamin #Sesko — not even a principle one.#NUFC are in talks with the player’s camp, with RB Leipzig have not received an offer yet. The situation also depends on what happens with Alexander Isak. To complicate matters further, Plettenberg also captured information stating that Manchester United is now also firmly in the running for the Slovenian: Manchester United and Newcastle are currently in talks with Benjamin #Sesko‘s management. Both teams have presented their projects and financial offers. #MUFC The decision now lies mainly with the player and his camp. Offers are expected to be formally submitted to RB Leipzig following the verbal agreement. However, #NUFC pushing a lot.Where things could turn in favor of Newcastle is if Alexander Isak leaves for Liverpool FC, which is expected to happen in the coming weeks. At that point, the Magpies might be inclined to ramp up their interest in Šeško.At one point, Šeško was a transfer target for Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich is getting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz...now what? Let’s talk through why we should take a step back, relax, and try to make the best of the move. Also, we’ve got some ideas about what might be next for Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade, why kicking the tires on Benjamin Šeško could be a good idea, the prospect of Gianluigi Donnarumma at Bayern, Jamal Musiala’ comeback plan, and MORE! RB Leipzig v VfB Stuttgart - 1. Bundesliga Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images Let’s get into the weekend... Things do not appear to be getting any easier in dealing with VfB Stuttgart for Bayern Munich as Die Schwaben have taken a hardline stance in talks with the Bavarians. Now, Bayern Munich is unsure if it will even present a third offer to Stuttgart, which means the club could be on the prowl for some help in the attack. With recent rumors emerging that Harry Kane could be playing his last season in Bavaria, it might be time for the Bavarians to start looking at options for its next striker. The player would need to be one who could either be a worthy successor to Kane (not an easy task) or someone who can play the No. 10 spot to help cover the loss of Musiala for the first few months of this season. Seemingly, Woltemade could have fit both of those profiles, but if he is off the table, who should Bayern Munich get? Some will point to RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons or Chelsea FC’s Christopher Nkunku, but another player might be a better fit for what Bayern Munich wants to succeed Kane. Simons and Nkunku would each have value as a central attacker, but not as a pure, long-term striker. In addition, each player could be a fit on the wing, which could also be a spot that requires help for the future. Realistically, though, Simons is closing in on a deal with Chelsea FC and Nkunku likely projects to a long-term back-up in Bavaria...so now, what? How about RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško? At one point, Bayern Munich even contemplated playing Šeško and Kane together. Now, though, Bayern Munich might be too far behind Manchester United and Newcastle United to secure the Slovenian star. The Athletic’s David Ornstein checked in with his information: RB Leipzig asking price for Benjamin Sesko ~€75m guaranteed + add-ons & percentage of future sale. Fee expectation communicated to suitors for 22yo striker. #NUFC / #MUFC pursuing but no agreements yet with #RBLeipzig or Slovenia forward. Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano says that Manchester United is posed to strike for Šeško: Manchester United have informed RB Leipzig that they are prepared to send formal bid for Benjamin Šeško, if player accepts the destination.Newcastle also ready to bid since last week and to match Šeško’s financial request.Decision up to Šeško.So...if Bayern Munich is truly looking for Kane’s successor (which, again, could come into play very soon), it might need to figure out if VfB Stuttgart really is not going to play ball for Woltemade and — if so — how quickly can the club pivot to another target...like Šeško.Time is definitely ticking and it will not be easy to find a successor for Kane this summer or next.Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 5, Episode 1Bayern Munich had a busy week, so let’s unwind and break it down.
