π Hazrat Maryam in the Quran: An Inspirational Journey towards Islam
According to reports from Rahyafte (a comprehensive platform for missionaries and new Muslims), Sabrina Bucci, a newly converted Muslim woman, shares her journey from Christianity to Islam:
π "My name is Sabrina Bucci. I was raised in a religious family. My grandmother was very religious, and I often accompanied her. She would regularly attend Catholic Church on Sundays and engage in fervent prayers. I have fond memories of my childhood, participating in Christian ceremonies such as Christmas. Together with my grandmother, I prayed for family and the departed. As a Catholic, I read the Holy Bible, attended church services on weekends, and felt content in my connection with Jesus (peace be upon him). Daily prayers were a routine, and neglecting them would trouble my conscience, leading to a sense of guilt.
π€ What is the Purpose of Life?
During my adolescence, prior to embracing Islam, my perception of Islam was unfavorable, influenced by media portrayals and events like 9/11. The passing of my grandmother prompted me to explore Islam further. Her departure made me ponder the meaning of life and what comes after death. It urged me to examine life from an external perspective and seek meaning and truth. I felt ashamed of my way of life and delved into studying various religions, especially Islam. I read the Quran online, searching for the distinction between right and wrong.
π‘ The Quranic Revelation
The first thing that captivated me in the Quran was the life of Prophet Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) and Hazrat Maryam (Mary, may Allah be pleased with her). Having been familiar with their lives in Catholicism, I found many commonalities between the Quran and the Bible in this regard. Initially, the concept of the Muslim women's hijab seemed strange. I believed it deprived women of their rights, a misconception shared by many. However, I later realized that the hijab provides protection for women from various harms and preserves their freedom from the impure desires of others. The hijab is a commandment in the Quran.
ποΈβπ¨οΈ Misconceptions about Islam
In my opinion, many people are uninformed about the true essence of Islam due to negative media portrayals. If one truly understands Islam, they would realize that many atrocities committed in the name of Islam are condemned by the religion itself. There are different interpretations of Islamic laws, some claiming that Allah commands the killing of non-believers. However, when one refers to the core of the Quran, they see a different truth.
π Exciting Experience
On the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), I pronounced the Shahadah and officially became a Muslim. As I uttered the Shahadah, tears flowed not out of fear or distress but out of eagerness for a renewed life. It was an exhilarating experience, and from that moment on, I was officially a Muslim. I shared the news with a friend excitedly. Apart from having friends in the community, I now had sisters and brothers in faith with whom I could engage.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Family Support
The reaction of my family to my religious conversion was positive. They observed my closeness to Allah, witnessed changes in my behavior for the better, and supported my adherence to Islamic dress and hijab. They understood my dietary changes and supported me. Overcoming the challenge of viewing Prophet Isa (Jesus) as a prophet rather than God was tough, but by attending the mosque, I learned Arabic prayers and embraced Islamic rituals, including the rules of fasting and maintaining appropriate interactions.
π€² Alhamdulillah (All Praise is Due to Allah)
Thanks to Allah, my family understood my journey and provided support. I am grateful to have embraced Islam and become part of a community that shares my faith. Alhamdulillah, the Lord of all worlds."

"Becoming Muslim: Overcoming Fears and Embracing Change"
π In my journey of converting to Islam, I've realized that everything lost in this process is merely an obstacle between me and God.
π Sharing my experience with Rahyafte (Comprehensive Platform for Missionaries and New Muslims), I, a recent Muslim convert, open up about my life and the reasons behind embracing Islam. My mother is Brazilian, and my father is American. I grew up mostly in SΓ£o Paulo, Brazil, and spent some time living in the United States.
My parents aren't very religious, especially my father, who is not religious at all. My mother, on the other hand, grew up in a large Catholic family, and we would occasionally attend Catholic Church. At a certain point in my life, I believed that no religion was good and that religions were driving people apart. That perspective changed when I visited Morocco and developed a genuine interest in Islam.
A teacher invited me to attend a conference in Spain, where I had the chance to meet a religious scholar. It was there that I heard truths about Islam that I had never come across before. Over the course of those three days, I contemplated converting to Islam. I knew the truth in my heart and wholeheartedly believed in it, but there were still many mental obstacles to overcome. I feared the reactions of my family and friends. I was afraid they wouldn't understand me, and due to the stereotypes about Islam in the media, they might question my decision without having a proper understanding of Islam.
On the other hand, I was also afraid of living up to being a Muslim. When I informed my family of my decision while still in Morocco, they couldn't accept it. They thought I was going through a phase of youthful foolishness. However, my mother beautifully said, "If Islam brings you closer to God, I am happy for you!"
I believe that Islam has helped me discard negative thoughts and let go of unnecessary and unimportant things. It has allowed me to overlook the judgments and misconceptions others may have about my faith. Certainly, Islam has also improved my relationship with my family. I feel that my purpose in life is now much clearer, something I lacked before.
In the beginning, I had many fears about becoming Muslim, more than necessary. But I was wrong. Becoming Muslim doesn't change who you are; it's a natural evolution. The change comes from within the heart and is a natural progression that brings you closer to God. And everything lost in this process is just the barriers between you and God that have existed for centuries. πΈ #NewMuslim #JourneyToIslam #OvercomingFears #EmbracingChange #ClearPurpose #IslamInspiration #FamilySupport π€²π½
