25 April. Saint Mark Evangelist, Patron of Venice.
It was the year 828 AD: the remains of Saint Mark Evangelist were stolen with a stratagem from the tomb of Alexandria in Egypt by two Venetian merchants, Buono da Malamocco and Rustico da Torcello, and transported in Venice, after being hidden in a basket of vegetables and pork (which Muslims wouldn't control).
The construction of the actual St. Mark's Basilica dedicated to the Saint Evangelist began few years later and its consecration to #SanMarco took place on April 25, 1094.
The Lion of San Marco or Leon Marciano or Winged Lion (symbol of Venice and main part of the Venetian flag☝️) is a representation of the Evangelist St. Mark, depicted in the form of a winged lion with halo on the head and a book between the legs.

35 years ago The Sugarcubes from #Iceland released their debut studio album.
This is a rare example of how an album and a band can be fundamental for the entire music movement of a nation and instrumental for promoting the country itself !
There were little news from Iceland, a country totally far from usual routes and general attention, #Sugarcubes... broke the ice!
Life's Too Good was recorded betweeen Reykjavík and London, where their first single "Birthday" (included in this album) had radio airplay in 1987.
The album was an unexpected success worldwide, in particular the eclectical and humorous attitude and amazing voice of the female singer was highly praised: her name was (and is) Björk!

My story with this album is possibly THE story of this album and of this triple-axe 🎸🎸🎸 band!
I bought Street Ready (still in #VeniceRocksRoom☝️) in England back in 1991. I had never heard of #Leatherwolf and bought it only because it costed few pounds.
When back from my UK trip with tons of more known records I had a quick listen to it and then stored it in my cassettes shelf for the following 20 years.
One day I decided to listen to all cassettes I own before they went out of use... and well, this became one of my favorites!
Amazing hidden gem from start to finish, definitive 1980s Heavy Metal / Hard Rock🤘

50 years ago Camel from Surrey, England, #UK released their 3rd studio album.
Following the success of "The White Rider" suite included in their 👉 1974 album and based on Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, #Camel wanted to write an entire novel-inspired record.
The Snow Goose was intended as a concept album based on Paul Gallico's novel of the same name, but due to copyright issues raised by the author, the band opted for an instrumental album adding the subtitle "Music Inspired By".
No better choice and no words to describe this album, my all time favorite #InstrumentalRock by possibly my favorite Prog band ❤️🔥
Absolutely unpretentious, accessible to everyone irregardless of musical tastes, and simply heavenly!
