January 1972. 50 years ago Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM), which later in the 70s would become the most internationally known and acclaimed Italian Progressive Rock band, release their debut album entitled Storia di un Minuto.
The album contains some tracks which soon became #PFM live standards, in particular the amazing song Impressioni di Settembre: written in collaboration with Mogol (the most famous "paroliere" in #Italy) this song stays as an Italian Rock classic, still today covered by many artists and bands.

Le
Orme
📀 Uomo di Pezza
#ProgressiveRock #SymphonicRock #RPI

50 years ago Le Orme from Venice, #Italy released their 3rd studio album Uomo di Pezza.
This album marks a change in the band's sound towards a more Symphonic Rock style and will lead to the future Progressive Rock masterpieces of the band.
#LeOrme first introduced Synthetizers in Uomo di Pezza, the songs are generally more delicate and sophisticated with melancholic lyrics and vocals, describing a helpless masculine attitude, juxtaposed to an unknown, inscrutable feminine universe.

Le Orme in this album were:
#TonyPagliuca – keyboards, synthetizers
#AldoTagliapietra – vocals, bass, guitars
#MichiDeiRossi – drums, percussion

Special Guest
Gian Piero Reverberi
(later #RondoVeneziano) – piano on track 1

Reale Accademia di Musica
📀 Reale Accademia di Musica
#ProgressiveRock #SymphonicRock #HardRock

50 years ago, in an undocumented date,  Reale Accademia Di Musica from #Rome, #Italy released their self-titled debut studio album.

In a year (1972) which probably was the best and most prolific for Progressive Rock genre and in a country (Italy) in which this kind of music chronically lacked of general attention and promotion, this album was almost ignored.
As many #RPI works #RealeAccademiadiMusica was re-discovered as a hidden gem and much appreciated by critics and fans of the genre in following years.

Simply amazing!

In this album:
#PericleSponzilli - guitar
#PierfrancoPavone - bass
#RobertoSenzasono - drums
#FedericoTroiani - piano, organ, mellotron, vocals
#HenrykTopelCabanes - vocals
Produced by #MaurizioVannelli of #Equipe84, and Italian #beat influences are apparent thoughout the album.

PFM
📀 Per Un Amico
#ProgressiveRock #SymphonicRock

50 years ago Premiata Forneria Marconi from #Milan, #Italy released their 2nd studio album, it followed
👉 their debut earlier that year.

Per Un Amico ("For A Friend") was dedicated by Mauro Pagani to the fellow musician Claudio Rocchi.

From the dreamlike baroque intro to the epic symphonic outro, all different music styles in this album are executed in a gentle crescendo with no excesses or exaggeration.

Not sure if this is the best #PFM nor if this is the best Prog Rock, but in the first year of this channel I cannot think of better music I've been listening.

In this album:
#FrancoMussida - vocals, guitars, theorbo, mandocello
#FlavioPremoli -spinet, keyboards, Hammond organ, Minimoog, Mellotron, tubular bells, harpsichord, piano, vocals
#MauroPagani – piccolo, violin, flute, vocals
#GiorgioPiazza – bass, vocals
#FranzDiCioccio – drums, percussion, vocals

50 years ago Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM) from #Milan, #Italy released their 3rd album.

Photos Of Ghosts is in fact a re-recording of #PFM tracks of their first 2 albums: it contains their entire second album 👉 Per Un Amico, plus "Celebration", their biggest international hit from
👉 Storia Di Un Minuto.
Songs have new titles and lyrics in English written by former King Crimson lyricist #PeterSinfield, who also produced the album.
"Old Rain" was the only previously unreleased track.

The first album of an Italian band to chart in US, it marked the band's international breakthrough.

In this album:
#FrancoMussida – vocals, guitars, theorbo, mandocello
#FlavioPremoli – spinet, keyboards, Hammond organ, Minimoog, Mellotron, tubular bells, harpsichord, piano, vocals

Camel
📀 Mirage
#ProgressiveRock #SymphonicRock

50 years ago Camel from Surrey, England, #UK released their 2nd studio album.

Can't express how much I love this album: to me Mirage is the perfect mix of class, musical gentleness, instrumental mastery, superb melody... the two suites "The White Rider" and "Lady Fantasy" are among the finest pieces of Progressive Rock music I've heard.

#Camel at their best ❤️‍🔥

#AndrewLatimer – guitars, flute; vocals on "The White Rider" and "Lady Fantasy"
#PeterBardens – organ, piano, Minimoog, Mellotron, Fender electric piano, Hohner clavinet, celesta; vocals on "Freefall" and "Lady Fantasy"

Le Orme
📀 Contrappunti
#ProgressiveRock #SymphonicRock

50 years ago in an undocumented date, Le Orme from #Venice, #Italy released their 5th studio album.

Recorded in August 1974, Contrappunti is possibly the most complete album in #LeOrme classic discography.
Complex instrumental compositions alternate with the typical Italian "canzone" in a contrasted crescendo that leads to the epic, haunting finale "Maggio".

If you can instantly fall in love with their previous 👉 Felona e Sorona, Contrappunti requires more and more listenings to be fully appreciated. Amazing album ❤️‍🔥

In this album:
#TonyPagliuca – keyboards, synthetizers
#AldoTagliapietra – vocals, bass, guitars
#MichiDeiRossi – drums, percussion

Special Guest
#GianPieroReverberi (later
👉 Rondo Veneziano) – piano, producer

Camel
📀 The Snow Goose
#ProgressiveRock #SymphonicRock

50 years ago Camel from Surrey, England, #UK released their 3rd studio album.

Following the success of "The White Rider" suite included in their 👉 1974 album and based on Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, #Camel wanted to write an entire novel-inspired record.

The Snow Goose was intended as a concept album based on Paul Gallico's novel of the same name, but due to copyright issues raised by the author, the band opted for an instrumental album adding the subtitle "Music Inspired By".

No better choice and no words to describe this album, my all time favorite #InstrumentalRock by possibly my favorite Prog band ❤️‍🔥
Absolutely unpretentious, accessible to everyone irregardless of musical tastes, and simply heavenly!

In this album:
#AndrewLatimer – guitars, flute
#PeterBardens – organs, pianos, Minimoog, ARP
#DougFerguson – bass
#AndyWard – drums, vibes

The Tubes
📀 The Tubes
#ArtRock #GlamRock #ComedyRock #SymphonicRock #ProgressivePop

50 years ago The Tubes from San Francisco, #USA released their self-titled debut album.

Produced by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist #AlKooper, The Tubes is widely regarded as an Art Rock milestone; some consider this album, and the band itself, as the perfect bridge between the declining Progressive Rock era of early 70s and the emerging New Wave movement of late 70s.

The album's closing track "White Punks on Dope", a parody ridiculing the rich and famous offspring of Hollywood elite, became #TheTubes signature and a cult song for punk rockers🤘

Amazing album ❤️‍🔥

In this album:
#FeeWaybill – vocals
#BillSpooner – guitar, vocals
#RogerSteen – guitar, vocals
#MichaelCotten – synthesizer
#VinceWelnick – keyboards
#RickAnderson – bass
#PrairieLEmprerePrince – drums

With
#DominicFrontiere – string and horn arrangements
