πΌ19 May 1945. Happy Birthday π₯³πΎ to Mr. Pete Townshend, born Peter Dennis Blandford Townshend in Chiswick, England.
A self-taught guitarist πΈ he has been for a lifetime the founder, songwriter and co-leader of The Who, a rock band still active since 1964 π³ which maybe was not as big as the Beatles and the Stones in terms of fame and success, but for sure of the same (if not higher) importance for the history and development of the entire rock scene ! π€πͺ
#PeteTownshend has written dozens of legendary rock songs plus rock operas and concept albums that still today are regarded as milestonesπ... and his stage performances were legendary tooπ₯, perhaps noone better than him has embodied that generation of rock rebels π
In the Chat Room... My Generationπ

50 years ago Uriah Heep from London, #UK released their 4th studio album Demons and Wizards.
There are works in Rock Music History that everyone should listen to once in a lifetime... this is one of that IMHO.
The album had generally positive reception and reviews, a fair commercial success, but became highly praised in following years, most notably within the Heavy Metal scene: drummer Lee Kerslake who had just joined #UriahHeep in 1972, later recalled that Demons and Wizards was the favorite and most inspiring album for legendary πΈ#RandyRhoads when the both were in Ozzy Osbourne's band.
Uriah Heep in this album were:
#DavidByron β lead vocals
#MickBox β lead guitar
#KenHensley β keyboards, backing, co-lead vocals, guitars, percussion
#GaryThain β bass
#MarkClarke β bass, co-lead vocals
#LeeKerslake β drums, backing vocals, percussion
